Just off I-5 to the east of the Willamette River, the 30-acre Rose Quarter features the Rose Garden arena, Memorial Coliseum, and the Oregon State Convention Center. Acts ranging from Elmo to Bruce Springsteen have played the 20,000-seat arena. To catch the city in bloom, visitors swarm to the Rose Festival’s Grand Floral Parade in June. This is a nice property, but it is surrounded on two sides by the MAX line. Be prepared to hear the trains come through every ten minutes from 5:30 am to 12:30 am the next day on weekdays. We could hear them clearly on the 10th floor and could even see a vibration in a glass of water. They nickle and dime you for everthing - wireless Internet has a […] fee unless you are in the Hilton Honors program, parking has a fee which is doubled on Friday & Saturday nights, and breakfast was not included in our rate (apparently it may be in some, but not what was offered through Hotels.com reservations). "The fire alarm kept going off, and noisy neighbors"
Our stay was for one night, right after we checked in, the fire alarm kept going off and then they made announcement as to nothing is wrong and someone is cooking in some part of the hotel and that triggered it. The hotel looks very nice. I love how you get a cookie when you check in, however, some of the basic amenities were missing. Basic things like a bath tub in the bathroom, a fan in the bathroom and a mini fridge were simply not there and I missed them. The room was also very small. "Nowhere at cost"
Not a bad room, warm cookies on arrival etc. But, there are some real downsides with this hotel. The parking is not free although expedia liste it as free. Wifi costs a ridculous amount a complete ripoff. There is nothing around this place unless you like to shop at an indoor mall. After 8pm the place is dead. The last little insult was the bar. Just […] wanted a glass of wine. Went down to the bar and wine that I had been buying in a supermarket for not much was at an absurd multiple for a glass. "Doubletree Hotel in Portland"
Our recent stay in the Doubletree hotel in Portland was off to a bad start. The room was so tiny. It may be OK for a single person but not for a couple with 2 young children. There was no refrigerator, no microwave, even when we asked for one. The room service response was terrible. It took an hour to get back with a no microwave available and another […] hour and a half to fix the shower drain which in the end did not work. "Ladie's Underwear"
The hotel was nice and the staff were nice. My son fell asleep with his iPod and couldn't find it in the morning. So he proceeded to take the sheets off the bed. While he was doing so he found a pair of glasses and a pair of black ladies undergarment in the sheets. I reported to the front desk and they did not have a manager to report it to. I so […] met the head of security and he took my phone number and reported it to the manager. She called later and tried to tell me that the sheets had been changed which I have a hard time believing. She asked what I wanted in return. I told her that I have never filed a complaint like that before. So she offered to comp my breakfast, which I guess she did. I have not checked my credit card bill yet.
