River's Edge Hotel & Spa, the first luxury boutique property located in Portland, Ore., incorporates the amenities of a destination spa and resort into its original design. This hotel is located on the Willamette River at John's Landing, known as the gateway to Portland's exclusive residential neighborhoods.
Hotel Features.
The design of this hotel pays homage to the contemporary sophistication and warm hospitality of the Pacific Northwest, displaying sensitivity toward this area's unspoiled surroundings. The handsome 7-story red brick property houses a 2-story lobby and guest reception area. The lobby features commissioned works of art by local Pacific Northwest artists, presented alongside vintage velvet sofas in a fireside setting. Dedicated to pampering their guests, the hotel is home to a spa, which offers a steam room, sauna, spa tub, along with full-body treatments including thermal mineral baths and Moor mud wraps. The adjacent fitness center, with free weights, cardiovascular, and strengthening equipment, is complimentary to guests of the hotel. The hotel offers child care services, conference rooms, and a 24-hour business center. The hotel provides complimentary continental breakfasts. Aquariva Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar offers a seasonal Italian-inspired menu, 40 Italian wines, outdoor riverside patio dining, and weekend brunches. Parking is available (surcharge). Parking is complimentary for guests arriving in an alternative-fuel vehicle.
Guestrooms.
Guestrooms offer ensembles of custom furniture and provide access to private verandas that feature stunning views of the Willamette River. Amenities include complimentary wired and wireless Internet access and iPod® docking stations. The hotel provides designer toiletries, and bathrobes are available on request.
River's Edge Hotel & Spa has obtained both the U.S. Green Building Council's Silver rating and LEED certification in recognition of hotel's efforts in recycling, energy efficiency, and low water consumption.

Aquariva Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar - Spacious dining room with patio seating, overlooking the Willamette River. Wine bar offers approximately 40 Italian wines by the glass. Menu selections may include herb cannelloni with fresh ricotta and grilled spicy sausage with Italian black lentils. Lunch and dinner. Bar open from late morning until late evening.

A two-mile riverfront walking and jogging trail, the Willamette Greenway, is right outside the hotel. Heron Lakes Golf Course, open to the public, is six miles from the hotel.

"a very relaxing place to stay"
Our room was very comforable and quiet. We had a lovely view of the river. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was great! Could have used brighter lighting in the room at night, the CFL bulbs were a little on the dim side. All in all, we are very happy with the Rivers Edge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Avalon - Great Stay!"
The Avalon in Portland was the best hotel of my ten day trip out west. I stayed at a different hotel almost every night in different cities. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean and spacious, the food at the hotel was delicious and the price was perfect. "In a word - Amazing"
We got in really late and there were 2 people at the desk to help us and park our car. They were friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. The hotel was quiet and peaceful. "Very relaxing and peaceful"
We enjoy ourself for the most part. Our major complaints were the cleaniness of our bathroom, the breakfast which contained the hardest biscuits i have ever seen, and the resterrants complete lack of knowledge when it came to making a spanish coffee.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
