River's Edge Hotel & Spa, the first luxury boutique property located in Portland, Ore., incorporates the amenities of a destination spa and resort into its original design. This hotel is located on the Willamette River at John's Landing, known as the gateway to Portland's exclusive residential neighborhoods.
Hotel Features.
The design of this hotel pays homage to the contemporary sophistication and warm hospitality of the Pacific Northwest, displaying sensitivity toward this area's unspoiled surroundings. The handsome 7-story red brick property houses a 2-story lobby and guest reception area. The lobby features commissioned works of art by local Pacific Northwest artists, presented alongside vintage velvet sofas in a fireside setting. Dedicated to pampering their guests, the hotel is home to a spa, which offers a steam room, sauna, spa tub, along with full-body treatments including thermal mineral baths and Moor mud wraps. The adjacent fitness center, with free weights, cardiovascular, and strengthening equipment, is complimentary to guests of the hotel. The hotel offers child care services, conference rooms, and a 24-hour business center. The hotel provides complimentary continental breakfasts. Aquariva Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar offers a seasonal Italian-inspired menu, 40 Italian wines, outdoor riverside patio dining, and weekend brunches. Parking is available (surcharge). Parking is complimentary for guests arriving in an alternative-fuel vehicle.
Guestrooms.
Guestrooms offer ensembles of custom furniture and provide access to private verandas that feature stunning views of the Willamette River. Amenities include complimentary wired and wireless Internet access and iPod® docking stations. The hotel provides designer toiletries, and bathrobes are available on request.
River's Edge Hotel & Spa has obtained both the U.S. Green Building Council's Silver rating and LEED certification in recognition of hotel's efforts in recycling, energy efficiency, and low water consumption.

This hotel is off the beaten path a little bit, but it is very close to Portland's excellent public transportation system, which is easy to use and very affordable. Another plus is the continental breakfast... it's not your typical food. The spread includes home-made baked treats (the banana bread was more moist than my mother's!) and a delicious house-made […] granola filled with nuts and dried fruit. We loved the fact that the breakfast is available right at the elevators on every floor, so it's easy to pop out to the table for another cup of coffee or a glass of orange juice and pop back into your room. "Family CHRISTMAS '12 in Portland"
Nice SPA, except you need to maker SPA reservations when you make hotel reservations... they were sold out for 4 days. Hotel river side worth the extra $10/day. Nice walk/run/bike path going south to park. Hotel staff did not know that path went thru park down to Sellwood Bridge then back up path into Portland cross Ross Island Bridge and back to hotel... […] about a 7.3 mile track. Weather was rainy as it always is so be prepared with layered clothing to cover into the low 30s (seems like 20s when wind blowing). Zoo Lights were a hit. "Great stay"

Wonderful hotel! Valet is a pain and the wireless did not work in room were the only distractions. If you pay for a riverview steer clear of the ground floor as the trees block the panorama. Everything else was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"What a surprise!"
Recently I was in Portland Or and tried to get into a different hotel closer to the downtown area. I found the Avalon Hotel and Spa on line and I was so pleased and surprised to find a GREAT Hotel and Spa. The Avalon is a very nice boutique hotel in the John's Landing area just south of downtown Portland. The room we had was a bit small but we had a great view of the Willamette River. "The hotel Avalon in Portland, OR"
Great hotel...service was great! Valet was nice and courteous. The room was good, (not great). I was disappointed at a "4 star" hotel that the bathroom did not have its own separated toilet. You see this in some hotels, its a small thing. I would recommend staying in this hotel, its close to downtown and the water front. Also it has 2 great restaurants […] next to it!
