La Quinta Inn & Suites Portland NW

I selected the La Quinta on Hwy 30 to access the University of Portland across the river easily. The St. John's neighborhood also directly across the river was also close enough to travel to for the purpose of dining in an eclectic and pleasant environment.

The person at counter was not rude at all but just lacked customer service, friendliness and making the guest feel welcomed; felt as if we just needed to hurry up get in and get out type of service. The breakfast service was great, the servers where really pleasant and hotel was easy to find.

This was right next to a recycling plant that I found out starts business at 4am, as I was awoken to the sound of it and had trouble getting back to sleep, because the noise was constant. Hotel was fine, except the darker curtain didn't close an there just happened to be a bright orange light right outside the window which was disturbing. When I told the front desk in the morning they just said sorry. Some things have been upgraded but that made other old things stand out. Overall an acceptable place to stay.

This hotel was disappointing because of it's location. It is directly next to a truck stop. For this reason, I did not feel comfortable opening the curtains at all. Fine stay. the location is in an industrial area, so not much around. Starbucks a 1/3 mile away. 23rd St and pearl Distrist of Portland are not too far (3-4 miles) if you don;t mind getting in the car for everything. It was clean and we slept fine.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. My room looked out onto a rental truck yard complete with loudspeaker announcements, idling trucks, you name it. No sheers on the windows so you couldn't open the drapes without being on display. Bright security nights at light the curtains couldn't begin to block out. The worlds loudest refrigerator whose condenser […] kicked on every ten minutes or so. And an air conditioner that shuddered off more than on, never managing to cool the room but guaranteed to wake me every time I managed to drift off. We have stayed there 2 times and both times were good. The only thing is that we can tell that the rooms had a smokers preference before. Smell of smoke is still slightly present. Over all nice rooms. If you don't like all the city hustle then this is a good location in the industrial district. Free parking and plenty of it!!

I came in expecting a dingy motel, but what we found was a nice hotel that was very clean and much better than we expected, with a helpful staff and a great continental breakfast (they had waffles!) Even though it's located in an industrial area it's not too far away- 5 minutes by car.
