I enjoyed my stay, particularly because the bed was so comfortable. The pillows were of superior quality with excellent conformance and support. The location on McLaughlin Blvd was a bit noisy late at night with the sounds of motorcycles going by. Big screen TV also a plus.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient access to center city"
This is a very comfortable hotel and the staff was quite friendly. The Banquet that was arranged for our group was great, one of the best in years. Our group personally congratulated the director/chef on his work. Everything was in place, food served at correct temperature and on-time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Odd smell"
The front desk service of this hotel aside from one excetion, was awful. You are first greeted by an outstanding 14 dollar per night parking fee, normaly I would be fine with this, but the lack of maintance, the confusion of the garage and the size of the spots make this lot a disaster. You walk into a lobby with an odd smell and outdated look. The […] staff is a mix of over bearing and unfriendly staff. There is no help with your bags, so pack light. The elevators are a little shaking but fast. Rooms aside from awesomely large and comfy beds, are small. The hotel has no individual ac, they do supply a fan or a space heater, and a window, so there's that. Hotel roof bar "windows" while a dump offers an awesome view of the city. Location is great and the Max is less then a block away. Overall I won't be staying here again and will pay the extra money to stay at the amazing hotel Marriott up the street. Being right across from the Convention Center, there's a lot going on and it's a bit noisy with the trains going by. The room was very clean and comfortable. The food was excellent upstairs and the breakfast diner downstairs has amazing breakfast. I would stay again for sure. Great location, however rooms were hot and stuffy, construction blocking parking in thier lot, old and stained toilet seats. In addition no one informed me of a live band playing late into the night shaking and blasting through out the hotel. I will not stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Service"
Poor service. When I asked where the additional parking was he said down the Ramp. Then I saw a ramp like road right beside the reception. I asked him is this the ramp. He loudly said no there is a ramp. I was tired and didn't want to make a fuss. It's not that I didn't hear him I had a second question. But his rudeness stopped me from asking it. "Like a Motel 6, but with horrid parking"
Check-in was quick and easy. The room was decent, but the bed not so comfortable. The biggest complaint about the room (and we were on the 2nd floor) was the noise. We heard the MAX light rail-trains and road noise all night long. The elevator during a couple of trips had a strong sewage odor. Otherwise, it was fine. We tried to eat breakfast in the […] attached cafe, but the staff was more worried about delivering room service than servicing customers in the dining area. We ended up walking out without even getting to order because we were in a hurry. Another couple came in just after us and never even got acknowledged or seated in a span of 5 minutes. The parking spaces are TINY and most are next to great big columns. The cost of parking is a turn-off as well, though it only applies to overnight stays. It is actually quite convenient if you stay the night before an event at the Convention Center (across the street) as you don't have to move your car. The Red Lion Inn website shows a swimmer icon next to this location on its website, but don't be fooled. There is no pool! Happy Hour in the lounge is family-friendly and a good value. The staff in the lounge were very nice and the view is pretty terrific. Overall, I would call this a 2-star hotel, not more because of the noisy rooms, poor parking spaces, and the disappointing cafe. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Will never stay at a Red Lion again"
This hotel was absolutely terrible. Hotel is on a rail line and that coupled with the paper thin walls and single pain windows meant every noise from every room and from every passing car was right in our hotel room. The hotel was old and dirty. The service was good but they were completely overwhelmed by the volume of people in their hotel (hotel was […] full for a tournament). Next trip to Portland, I will not stay anywhere near the convention center and I certainly won't stay in this hotel again or with this hotel chain. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We were in Oregon attending an event at the convention center, which is right across the street. The light rail is also right there, which made it easy to get downtown and to the airport. Great location. Room was a little small, but clean. The staff was extremely helpful and kind.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Rooms were small and tight but clean. The hallways are very tight as well. We had problem with our door handle which led to us changing rooms. The hotel staff handled the situation perfectly. "Can find something better"
The hotel was outdated and run down. My room was in decent shape, but I definitely had to use the portable heater as I was cold most of the time. The best part was how close it was located to the MAX. However, my room was right next to the stop...needless to say, I didn't sleep very well.Genuine Expedia guest review

It was everything we needed close to the medical facility we had to be at. We didn't stay in the room much as we had a full schedule with the doctors. "Average hotel with good location"
Some areas have been upgraded, but others have not (windows for example let in quite a bit of street and light rail train noise). All in all an average hotel, nothing real bad, nothing real good other than location. It is next to light rail station, convention center, Red Robin, Denny's and Burgerville. real convenient to jump train into downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Bed from heaven..pool paved over.."
The plusses...the bed was perhaps the most comfortable I have ever encountered!!! heavenly! I never wanted to get up. I have trouble sleeping, usually changing posotions throughout the night, but I don't think I moved a muscle! The room was very spacious, the hotel is in a great location. The minuses....on the Expedia website it lists that there is […] a pool, and shows pictures. Upon arrival I asked about the pool and ws told it had been leaking, so it had been paved over and was now a terrace. A HUGE disapointment. I felt misled by the website. Also, there is a rooftop bar that is said to have spectacular views of the city. I had planned to take friends there, only to discover it was closed for a private party. Also, parking is $2.00 more per night than it states on the parking pass, although they did tell me in advance. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"This Red Lion was all washed up!"
The Room never got warm. We turned up the thermostat but that didn't help. Table Lamp did not work. . Choose this hotel because it wasn't right downtown and thought parking would be free. It surely wasn't!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Outside Noise !"
The bad: Stayed on fifth flour, nice view of Convention. First night was ok, only some noise from freeway. On the second day, Tuesday, must have been some crazy train transport going thru. Trains ware blasting their air horns, all the time thru all the night. It felt like every block they went thru, they lay on horn just for fun!. It felt like train […] would come every 5 min, lol Once we woke up, we could not fall a sleep most of the night. It was loud even with the all windows closed and drapes completely shut. I could not imagine leaving in this area full time. I just hope that was one time event, and not every day occurrence. The good: Pretty clean. Good cleaning service. Short walking distance to Convention Center, you can easily park your car at hotel and walk on foot. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"good accomodataions"
The staff at the Red Lion in Portland were really nice. The housekeeping staff was really friendly, sweet and helpful. This is always a delight to me, knowing how hard they work. This is an older hotel, so some of that shows. The room was set up efficiently, and the lighting was good. Hallogen lamps are easy to see, and to read by. Many better hotels […] lack good reading lamps so this was a bonus. The hotel had been redecorated recently and I really liked the curtains and painting on the wall. so I thought the decor was nicer than many places I have stayed. It looked like the curtains were hand basted, etc. like the were ordered and not machine made, but I am not sure. I liked the eco friendly amenities. It is located right next to the convention center, so the location was very good for our purposes this trip. Everything felt orderly, and had a sense of organization, rather than disorder. The parking was excellent. For a hotel in the city although not downtown the cost was good. The pillow top bed was excellent. Sometimes hotels have really hard beds and how do you sleep. Also, there was an assortment of pillows of different measure. I liked that too. It seems there has been some good thought put into the running of the hotel, and the comfort for it's patrons. all in all a good experience. thank you Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location, nice staff"
This is an older hotel and I had stayed at it before so I knew what to expect. It's within walking distance of where I need to be so I could park my car and leave it the whole time, even past the noon check out time on the day I left. The room was very clean, although there was something left in the mini fridge from a previous tenant. The clock radio […] didn't work so I asked for a wake up call, it never came. I mentioned both the radio and the fridge to the person at the desk the next morning, nothing was done by the time I returned that evening. I mentioned the radio again and they had one that worked delivered to my room. I actually really like this hotel. I had to cancel one other time at the last minute and they did so without any question, even thought they could have charged me. I am sure I will stay there again. "Not a happy camper"
Went there to see my son basketball game and have a nice night with my wife. My room was a handicap accessible room, which gives the room a completely different feel, the bathroom shower head was below my waist, both of us were unable to take a shower the sink was open with the pipes exposed, the pillows were tiny throw pillows, they were not even standard […] size. We filled out a comment card since no one asked how are stay was and we asked to be contacted and have yet to have any one from the hotel call us. We will choose to stay at a different hotel in the future. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Pretty nice but not great"
Parking cost $12 for the night, which was unexpected. Other than that, it was a very nice hotel, but not great, maybe not as good as I had hoped for as much as I paid. Wouldn't stay there ever again. Disappointment. Want a good nights rest? Don't pick try his hotel. Right by the freeway, super noisy. Lights were burned out in my room. Looks like a motel. "Steps from the MAX line to sowntown & the airport"
We chose this hotel for the convenience of it's location. We planned to spend time in Beaverton, Downtown, and Cascade Station which are all on the MAX line which is about a half a block from the hotel. When we arrived we were checked-in by a not friendly, or helpful, front desk attendant... we found the garage, elevators, and our rooms by ourselves. […] Our room was clean and had a fridge, which was nice for our leftovers. The downside is that this hotel is above a VERY busy road as well as the MAX lightrail line, so it is very noisy in the rooms. We were only there for one night, so we just got earplugs (from a new also not friendly front desk attendant) and dealt with the noise. Overall, it served our purpose, but in the future I will find a hotel that isn't so noisy and walk a block or two further to the MAX. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Two blocks from Rose Quarter"
We went to a concert at the Rose Quarter and this hotel was a short two block walk. There was a lovely restaurant upstairs with good food and a gorgeous panoramic view of the city. Starbucks is across the street. The MAX light rail was nearby and we were able to leave our car at the hotel and get into downtown Portland with ease.
