"Good Value"
This hotel was a very good value for the price. It is conveniently located one block from the convention center and across the street from the convention center MAX train stop and one block from the street car/trolley stop. Very convenient hotel to the convention center and other Portland sites. Great service!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for conventioneers"
Nice place, great views from the top floor restaurant, very convenient to the convention center and transit line. It seemed like it needed a bit of TLC, ready for some upgrades. For example, the "ice machine" on my floor was just a freezer with bags of ice in it. No big deal, just not quite as nice as I expected for the price. Location was great for our event that was held at the Rose Garden. We weren't impressed with condition of hotel. We were expecting a little more with it being a Red Lion hotel. I felt like I was in something closer to a Motel 6. Also very unhappy with having to pay an additional $14 for parking at a place we already were paying to stay at. I would expect […] the parking to be part of our stay and I was not informed on any additional parking fee until we arrived. In the future I will definitely reconsider staying at Red Lion hotel. We drove down for the wedding dress event at the Ambridge event center. The location was Perfect! The hotel was nice, clean, and the staff was very friendly. We paid for parking and were told we could stay past check out as long as it wasn't too late like 9pm. This was awesome and we were able to just walk to where we needed to go. "wont return here"
The hotel was ok if you dont mind parking a block away in an unsecured lot in a sketchy part of town. The rooms had a dated feel with low ceilings, kind of felt like a coffin. Everything else was passable and by that I mean one step above a motel 6. Small bathrooms and cramped rooms. The price was a little cheaper, however, in the future I will spend […] a little more to stay somewhere nicer. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"close to convention center and LOUD trolley"
I could only score a 3 on the comfort of my room strictly because the trolley stop was incredibly LOUD and inconveniently less than a block outside our window. It ran all night until 1 am and started up again at 5am. It sounded like a loud thunder storm approaching every 15 mins. It would often interrupt our conversations. If it wasn't for some earplugs, […] I would not have slept at all. Also, we ate dinner in the cafe on Friday and they were way understaffed. Our server seamed to be running room service as well and it took us over 45mins to get our food and our steak was horribly dry and not cooked as we ordered. We were in a big hurry so we just ate it and ran. My breakfast was cooked as I liked it but the quality of the food was maybe fair. I wouldn't stay there again unfortunately. The location is very convenient, right across the street to the Oregon convention center. The MAX light rail station is right outside the hotel, going to downtown and shopping center. The breakfast restaurant on the 1st floor offers decent breakfast with nice service and reasonable power consumption. The dinner restaurant on the top floor had night […] view of the convention center. It also has a small business center with computer and printer. "Do not waste your money!!!!"
I travel around WA/ID/OR for my job - roughly 3000 miles a month and stay in random hotels.... This by far was the worst! The front desk gentleman Chris - not helpful what so ever, he's there for a paycheck and could careless about the guests. Lights were burnt out in the bathroom, the shower was falling apart, the entire room was pretty much windows […] - so anytime the maxline (Portland transit system) went by it woke me up! You couldnt control the temp of your room - the hotel did that - I'm 36 weeks pregnant and needless to say I was roasting all night long. I would rate this hotel a 0 if I could. Ive never been so dissatisfied before. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not my first choice."
My room was located on the 4th floor on the corner. Outside there were commuter trains that run on both streets which made the room quite noisy. The windows could use an upgrade to double pain that dampen the noise. In the bathroom the cleaning person had missed a dirty wash cloth hanging on the shower rod. Even though the TV was a flat screen the picture […] was fuzzy. The internet connection was acceptable and was fast enough to watch movies or Skype home. Not enough plugs in the room, especially near the bed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I would not stay there again. Your price did not include parking. No breakfast included. Quite a bit of noise outside during evening. No swimming/whirlpool. Not up to today's standards.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not as nice as the pictures"
I was on the 2nd floor the hotel was not in that great of condition. The carpets were dirty in the hallway and it had a weird odor. I did like the roof top bar, its far from a restaurant, even though they did server food.. The Halibut fish and chips was fantastic.. I didn't like having to pay to park when a block away it was free. Parking is tight and […] if you have a larger car or truck you can forget about it.. Also if you come in late, like I did most of the spots were full, which is the same problem I had at another Red Lion. The train is very close making it easy to get to downtown.. The biggest selling point to this hotel for me was the location, if you want easy access to downtown and some of the Portland night life its worth the money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Red Lion Hotel"
Room was comfortable and clean. Noisy neighbors up all night and the walls do not have much insulation. The fan blew hot when on and switched to coldest temp. When leaving the window open the light rail ran all night, so if you are looking for a quiet place to sleep, this is not it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Better Than Expected"
Spent two nights and was not disappointed. I wanted to stay near the Oregon Convention Center and it was right there as was the metro stop to and from PDX or into downtown. Looks like they've updated the rooms--nothing fancy though. Heating was a bit noisy but the room was well heated. You do have to pay for parking but they waived parking for me for […] the one night I needed to park. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Comfort in Portland"

"Cannot beat the convenience"
I loved the convenience the hotel afforded, since I was attending a 4-day conference at the Oregon Convention Center. My room was clean, looked out over the parking lot so I could keep an eye on my car parked there, and the desk staff was pretty helpful. My only real complaint is that there were groups of people, laughing/talking/smoking somewhere below […] my window. On Fri/Sat nights, they were extremely noisy until 2-3 am. I called the front desk (3) different times, and asked for security to disburse them. Somewhere around 4 am, the noisemakers stopped. I think if you're staying here during the week, this will not be a problem. Weekends? That's a different story. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice..."
Although the Red Lion is an older hotel, it was everything I needed and wanted. Very convienent to the trains...I could get downtown in 10 minutes. If youre looking for a hotel close to downtown and the express rail line this is it. A little noisy at night with the rail but the convenience of the rail makes up for it. Room was really comfortable and staff were friendlyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"better than average"
Front desk staff consistently friendly and helpful. Room was above average in cleanliness and comfort. Great bed, lots of pillows! I was there for a seminar at the hotel and the on-site cafe was closed during the conference lunch break which was frustrating - we had to leave the premises for lunch. The dining room on the 6th floor was awful - seven […] or eight tables in a huge ballroom, none of them near the windows, pop music (Justin Bieber, Pink)playing during the dinner hour, we had two differenct servers, both were slow and unfriendly. Food was terrible. On the other hand, we had breakfast in the downstairs cafe and it was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had and the server was super friendly. I would highly recommend the hotel - just not the dining room! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

So very convenient to the convention center! It looks like the best option in the area. The outside is deceiving, looks awful. Inside is older but comfortable and clean. I felt this was good value when booked at the rate given through hotels.comGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Restaurant"
The only thing I would like to see improved is the food and service in the restaurant. Our waitress only came to the table to give us our food. She never came back and there were only four people eating there. Our food was OK but not great. The rest of the hotel was lovely and our rooms were very comfortable.
