The Red Lion Hotel Portland - Convention Center in Portland, Ore., located across the street from the Oregon Convention Center, is popular with conventioneers as well as business and leisure travelers. The hotel is just 3 blocks from the Lloyd Center Mall and 4 blocks from the Rose Garden and Memorial Coliseum. Downtown Portland and the Portland Art Museum are within 2 miles of the hotel. A MAX (Portland's rail system) light-rail stop is across the street. Portland International Airport is 12 miles from this property. The hotel provides limited parking (surcharge).

Happy Hour is held Monday–Friday from late afternoon into the early evening, with discounted appetizers and specialty drinks.
A 5th-floor fitness room provides a range of equipment including leg press and bikes. On clear days, guests may catch a glimpse of Mount St. Helens while working out.
A skating rink (surcharge) is located at Lloyd Center Mall, three blocks away. Jogging, cycling, and walking paths are available on the Esplanade, along the east bank of the Willamette River, six blocks from the hotel. Nearby golf courses include Heron Lakes, with 36 holes, and the 18-hole course at Eastmoreland; both are within eight miles of the hotel.

Just off I-5 to the east of the Willamette River, the 30-acre Rose Quarter features the Rose Garden arena, Memorial Coliseum, and the Oregon State Convention Center. We were in Oregon attending an event at the convention center, which is right across the street. The light rail is also right there, which made it easy to get downtown and to the airport. "Not far from downtown"
It is expensive to stay in downtown hotel, so we decide to stay in a hotel that is a bit far from it. It is only couple stops from Union Station. Not much noise at night. It was everything we needed close to the medical facility we had to be at. We didn't stay in the room much as we had a full schedule with the doctors. The plusses...the bed was perhaps the most comfortable I have ever encountered!!! heavenly! I never wanted to get up. I have trouble sleeping, usually changing posotions throughout the night, but I don't think I moved a muscle! The room was very spacious, the hotel is in a great location. This is an older hotel and I had stayed at it before so I knew what to expect. It's within walking distance of where I need to be so I could park my car and leave it the whole time, even past the noon check out time on the day I left. I mentioned both the radio and the fridge to the person at the desk the next morning, nothing was done by the time I returned that evening. "Kind of noisey, but great location"
Stayed four nights here to attend an event. The hotel location is great if you are looking for an inexpensive stay with the abiltiy to get around Portland. Located 30 minutes from the airport via the MAX train. All 4 MAX trains are within a 2 block walk of the hotel. 2 trains stop across the street from the hotel. Using Portland's MAX, Trolley and bus […] system allows you to go anywhere in the City. Hotel restaurant was good ($10), but I only had breakfast there. Hotel was a typical Red Lion, not fancy. The only downside is the noise and vibration from the trains. My room was on the S/W corner of the hotel which was where the trains ran. It was bad, but the hotel will give you earplugs if required.
