"Love the decor, donuts and location"
Great location. Red star restaurant was good, especially happy hour. Loved the wine/beer tasting hour and the voodoo donuts in the morning. Great room although being on the 2nd floor meant sometimes navigating around attendees for the function rooms. Underground parking was pricey but convenient. I'd stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
awesome as always. Always such friendly staff. Valet staff is always helpful, friendly, funny and prompt.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location, great hotel, but a few problems"
I went to Portland for the first time recently, and based on the quality of reviews, decided to stay at the Monaco. The location is fantastic - easy walking distance to Pioneer Square, Saturday Market, and all downtown locations and museums. I did have a few small issues, however. (1) the WiFi in my room was not working properly when I arrived. Rather […] than fixing it themselves or moving me to another room, the hotel made me spend an hour on the phone with tech support trying to fix it. They should have handled it themselves and not made me deal with it; and (2) I asked for a 5:00 wake-up call on the day I was leaving - the call came at 5:30. Thankfully, I had set a back-up alarm, or I would have been late getting to the airport. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel for business"
I really appreciated the 24 hour gym. I travel a lot and was on East Coast time so a 4am workout was perfect for me. A la carte breakfast was great, if a little pricey. Very Portland with the pulled pork in the Eggs Benedict !Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hotel Monaco Portland, a Kimpton Hotel Thanks for your recent review of the Hotel Monaco Portland. In addition to our 24 hour fitness center we also offer room service on a 24 hour basis. By the way, pulled pork in eggs benedict is one of my favorites.
We never recieved our wake up call, the water was freezing cold and we were put on hold for ever when calling room service. We were so grateful that they comped both of our room!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hotel Monaco Portland, a Kimpton Hotel Thanks so much for your recent review of the Hotel Monaco Portland. I am so very sorry that we missed your wake up call, and the heat was inoperative. That is unacceptable. We will review our procedures with our team and fix this. We have already fixed the heat problem. I am very glad that we took the steps necessary to try to make this up to you. We look forward to the very great pleasure of serving you again in the hopefully near future.
"Best hotel and service I've stayed at in Portland."
I'm in pdx once a month if not more on business. First time i wasn't concerned about cleanliness or beds. Service was extra friendly and very attentive. Only suggestion- lower the liquor prices in the mini bar. Way to steep!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A beautiful hotel in a convenient location."
The hotel is only three blocks from the light rail train that goes to the airport, and only $2.50 compared to $40.00 by cab. There are places to eat in every direction and a real short walk to the park. For lunch the food vendors were open and the chinese food we had was delicious and reasonably priced. The hotel takes dogs. And it looks like they are […] treated as well as the human guest. All in all, a great place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent stay at Hotel Monaco"
I have stayed at high end hotels and I have never received the customer service that I have received from this hotel. In addition to their excellent customer service, they had a bunch of little perks (ice cream happy hour, wine hour, bikes, etc) that made it even more fun.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderful Monaco"
I loved the Hotel Monaco. The staff is exceptional and provided super friendly, warm service without seeming stuffy or too formal. Shout-out to the valets, who were extremely helpful and made me feel welcome each time I left and returned to the hotel. The lobby lounge is beautifully decorated, with a cozy fireplace, and the nightly happy hour was a […] nice touch. Timmy the golden retriever was a wonderful hotel ambassador! The decor of the hotel was stylish and funky without trying too hard. My suite was huge! I also stayed at The Nines during my trip to Portland, which was beautiful and luxurious, but I slightly preferred the Monaco for its warmth and character. The Nines had an edge in its restaurants and location (Monaco location is convenient, but on kind of a quiet and blah-looking block) but the Monaco will be my top choice when returning to Portland. "Staff great but room smelled"
Overall, the hotel was great and the staff was wonderful but my room smelled of dog. I am fine with hotels accepting pets but I think perhaps there should be designated rooms for pets only. I would have chosen a non-pet room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hotel Monaco Portland, a Kimpton Hotel Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel. I am sorry however that you were not completely satisfied with your room. For your future visits be sure to ask for a hypo-allergenic room and we will make sure you are in a pet-free room.

"Great hotel"
Wonderful service, beautiful rooms, amazing price on hotels.com, great location, very quiet rooms, wine/beer happy hour and lovely live pianist every evening, extremely helpful and friendly staff, fantastic fitness center. Only negative would be hallway carpeting on 3rd floor seemed a bit stinky and stale. Rooms are updated and clean so not sure why […] hallway had that odd odor. "Kimpton doesn't disappoint"
another nice property run by Kimpton. Staff terrific. Room was small, but functional.. Bathroom was large. I have not had a sub-standard experience with Kimpton. Hotel was also close to light rail making the airport trip easy, beating the rush hour car traffic into the city and only costing 2.40Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice getaway"
Great customer service and lots of food carts just a couple blocks away so it's a plus for foodies. Don't stay on a lower floor if street noise bothers you. Two minor complaints: the work desk is small and the power strip cord to plug in your electronics looked a bit piecemealed for any business traveler. Secondly, don't stay here if you are allergic […] to dogs. The hotel allows them, so ask if they have a pet free room if dog hair bothers you. But the wine and beer reception, the newspapers and the staff were nice. I'd stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"wonderful stay"
Youthful staff very friendly, attentive, helpful. Ammenities included nightly complementary happy hour with local wines, beers, and liquors, as well as bicycles. Pet friendly, so lots of "special furry people". Location was excellent for sampling Portland's exhuberent night scene and eclectic dining. We will stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"another winner with kimpton"
This was my 4th stay at a Kimpton Hotel in the past few years. Every experience was great. The Hotel Monaco in Portland Oregon was pleasantly decorated in the lobby and the rooms. The afternoon complimentary wine tasting was well attended and made even better by the piano player. The restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. The staff was helpful […] and courteous. Overall, a very good value in a great downtown location. I'd gladly go there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel - area in decline"
This is a class hotel, and close to everything I needed to visit. But the area has show definite decline since I was last here. It has been a year since my last visit to Portland and I was VERY disappointed at the decline of the downtown area. While walking to a meeting only 3 blocks away, I say two drug deals, an altercation between a pimp and his […] "woman", and roving homeless. The latter has always been there, but seem to be getting younger and more aggressive. Still, I would stay at the Monaco again. I lived in Oregon for 7 years and worked in Portland so I know it has been better. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel Monaco - right in the heart of downtown"
Great location within walking distance to lots of shopping and many restaurants. The wine reception in the lobby was a nice way to start our stay. The rooms were very unique and well-furnished. "This trip made me love Portland."
The Monico is in the heart of downtown. The blocks are short, people are friendly, and, if you stay in the greater downtown area, public transportation is free, but rarely necessary. Walking is easy and distances seem short. The hotel was great. Beautiful decor, friendly helpful staff, convenient to my needs. I am sorry to say I didn't get to try the […] restaurants in the hotel, since my conference was so all-inclusive. As a woman traveling alone, I felt perfectly safe for my entire stay. "Kimptons are the coolest!"
My husband and I had a great time. The location was perfect for us. The hotel was comfortable, clean and the staff was very friendly. The "extras" such as happy hour in the lobby with free drinks makes this hotel really stand out. The only downside was the expensive parking (but I guess thats typical of a big city).Genuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel Monaco - great service, excellent staff!"
What a great hotel! The services was excellent - from the parking garage, lobby attendants, and door man. The room was quiet (though in the heart of downtown) and in a convenient location to get dinner, drinks, and shopping on foot. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel Monaco - What Fun"
Being a dog lover I was welcomed to this grand lobby by a lovely blackboard that welcomed all of the canine guest that were staying at the hotel that evening. Also a lovely wine tasting was going on in the lobby sitting room, evidently this is a nightly event. My room was oversized, well apointed and very quiet. The Monaco is an absolutely classy hotel. […] I was visitng on business and was only there for one night. I plan to return with my Husband for a weekend getaway. Portland and the downtown area is lovely. Great hotel!!!
