The hotel was just okay as was the service. Only saw the concierge once which stunk cuz we had questions. The rest of the staff seemed indifferent to offering suggestions, etc. Our bedspread was covered in hair when we checked in but at least they cleaned it up quick. Bathroom had no fan which was annoying.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall it was OK but well overpriced if you ask me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very Poor Desk Service"
The gentleman who checked us out charged us for the room even though we had already paid for the room through the site hotels.com. On our way home, we stopped to do some shopping, and unaware that he had done this, tried to make a purchase but our card was declined. I am still waiting for the funds to become accessible. I am furious, to be frank.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hotel Monaco Portland, a Kimpton Hotel Thank you for your recent review of the Hotel Monaco Portland. We really appreciate your comments and feedback. I apologize that you found our normally good service lacking. We should not have charged your personal credit card for a room that had been prepaid. We will focus on fixing this so it will not happen again. I am hoping that your funds have been released by now but if not please call me at 503 417 3370. Thanks so much. "Great hotel but pretty noisy on low floor......"
Hotel is lovely. Room was clean and comfortable. Room was on second floor and street construction all night and traffic noise made for a restless night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not for Everyone"
This is a nice hotel with great service and a quirky fun style. However, I have three complaints that would prevent me from coming back. Our standard Queen was very very small. A nice big bathroom, but in the bedroom, given two suit cases, a queen bed and a small table and sitting chair there was very little room to get around in the room. The valet/parking […] was $35. My recollection was that the going rate in Portland was $20 to $25 for Valet. Also, Lots of Pets (dogs) in the Hotel, including in the Lounge and on the Lounge furniture. I can sleep on a bed and/or sit in a chair that has been occupied by a pet at home. My recommendation of this hotel is luke warm. In a different strokes world this is a different strokes hotel. "For 200 bucks a night you are on your own."
If you know Portland, you know the weather is not all that sunny. For the cost this hotel has little to offer. Yes the room is great, but you could get a good room at a dozen hotels near by. No Hot tub, that would help get the chills out. The bath tub you get is up to a motel 6 quality. The staff are the nicest people! They are not in charge of how […] the hotel is run they are doing a wonderful job! Highly recommend the valet car parking at the hotel the guys in the garage where so laid back! I never felt rushed like how some hotels make you feel. If this hotel would just put out some toast, or a tray of pastries, even some cheap yogurt, and cut fruit with the morning coffee this would be a great hotel! It sort of sucks to sart your day off with walking in the rain for a morning snack, and paying for it! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Okay hotel, but overpriced."
The hotel was located right in Downtown Portland, but the area was a little seedy at night. Also parking was very expensive, the the valet staff provided directions to additional parking that was a few blocks away and 60% cheaper. The building is over 100 years old, but it hasn't been maintained as well as it should be. The hotel was nice, but not at […] the level of a Kimpton property. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The bathroom is in dire need of clorox- the sink, toilet& tub were moldy and poorly cleaned. The 1st room we were escorted to reeked of cat urine. They had placed us in an aminal friendly room. It may be animal friendly but was not human friendly. Luckily they had another animal free room available.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Tired"
Hotel is looking a little worn with carpet worn, wall paper peeling off, dirt in corners of wall moulding. Sheets all pull out when you get into bed -making it a little disheveled entering or exiting bed. Most desk staff were just OK, aloof and not friendly. Wait staff was excellent-friendly and eager to help. Kimpton needs to have Alexis Hotel in Seattle […] as their a standard. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"has to be better for 4"
Hotel are ok ! I wouldn't rated 4 . My personal experience it should be 2.5 to 3 only. Parking garage are way over price. The beds are good . For the price I paid for the room , this hotel should have more accommodation.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Service and maintenance doesn't equal the price point"
The Hotel Monaco in Seattle is higher-end and better maintained. While the staff didn't really do anything wrong, they basically ignored us until the day we left. Those were different staff, and maybe Sunday is just a better day than Friday or Saturday. The worst disappointment was an almost sewer-like smell in the room. We finally identified it as […] coming from the central air and shut that off. Smell solved, but definitely stale air without an opening window. Since this was my wife's birthday, I spent extra on the suite, and would rather have stayed at The Nines in Portland any time. Smaller rooms, but much better overall. Not the worst, not the best. Check out the other downtown Portland hotels before choosing this one. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Started bad, but hotel desk quickly resolved probl"
The first room I check into was cute, but it smelled like a combination of smoke and urine. Not what I would expect for the price. I reported it to the front desk and they quickly changed my room to a beautiful suite. So all ended well, but I don't think I would go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"bed was uncomfortable"
hotel is in a convienent location for walking and the customer service was excellent. The evening wine/beer offering in the lobby was nice. However, the bed was very uncomfortable. the pillows were small and actually hurt my ears! Both my partner and I agreed that if we had booked a third night we were going to check out and check into another hotel […] because of the bed. Also, because it is downtown the noise from the street all night woke us up a few times. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Over-Rated"
So, in general, this is an ok hotel but not amazing at all. I was in a king suite and the layout almost made it a waste of space. If you have kids, it maybe a little better. The room and decor is showing its age but adequate, definitely not “top end”. This hotel, along with most of them in this "class range" think that someone looking for an upper […] end option should get bent over at every opportunity. $5 for a soda in the fridge and no soda machines anyplace in the hotel, $30+ for parking when you have no choice to park, etc.. make sure you add these things onto the cost of the stay. I go to Portland often, I will stay at the airport as usual, forgo all the fees and take the max downtown, I wouldn't stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"old make-over showing a bit"
Parking at hotel because of late check-in was an expensive surprise. Complimentary continental breakfast was very good and the dining room nice. labyrinth of halls not well signed to indicate rooms and elevators people were ver nice but check-in clerk neglected to provide us with breakfast vouchers.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Great room. Parking was expensive at $33 for an overnight stay. The amentities in the room are nice to see and convenient but VERY expensive.Genuine Expedia guest review

over priced for what you get. Quite datedGenuine Expedia guest review
"beware of Hidden costs"
We were shocked by the $38 a night for parking. It added an unexpected 120 to my already tight budget. They also try to charge us 1.25 for local calls and 4.88 for long distance. They end up taking it out but what a nerve.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
