"a hidden gem"
It was my second trip to Portland and found a deal for Hotel deLuxe and I was delighted with my choice. I liked that it was a few blocks away from the city center which gave me the opportunity to see another area of PDX. But most of all the staff were friendly and attentive. And the hotel and rooms were stylish and clean with a modern take on old Hollywood. "Great Hotel to Revisit Past Grandeur"
The old hotel has been beautifully renovated; and the staff, for the most part, was extremely pleasant and helpful. Our problem arose because no one told us either at the time of booking - or when I called the main desk asking about dinner reservations - that the dining room was closed for the evening. I had specifically asked about dining arrangements, […] as we had tickets to a theatre performance and needed to have dinner prior to that event. The very small bar did not take reservations; and the nicely-appointed large lobby was extremely cold whenever the doors were opened, making it a less-than-desirable place to have a nice dinner. The staff did make suggestions for another local restaurant - failing to advise us that it also required reservations well in advance. The ambiance is charming; and the film noir essence quite appealing. The very soft bed was sorely disappointing, failing to give a relaxing night's rest. The shower head, although working just fine, was placed at a height for those well over six feet tall, making a shower an "interesting" experience. When we were finally able to avail ourselves of the dining room the next morning, we found it pleasant and spacious with an attentive staff and a limited, though delicious menu. "Warm, friendly and reminiscent of by-gone era"
The staff were wonderfully helpful and welcoming. The room, although small, was neat and comfortable. The hotel is old and well kept and its age definitely adds to the ambience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Portland.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Really Great overall experience."
The staff is incredibly helpful, rooms (especially bathroom) very elegant down to the last detail. Only cons were small room and a very expensive fridge and basket bar-type thingy. Even the restaurant and the bar (both very busy) were really great!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for couples"
Room had a nice view, but small. Clean and beautiful lobby, nice that when the bar was busy they had a cocktail server for the lobby seating area. Desk was extremely helpful, friendly people. My shower was the only bad part- tub filled up while showering and didnt stay consistent temp.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Hotel"
The hotel has very nice and interesting decor themed with 1930's-1950's Hollywood pictures. The hotel restaurant is a nice a la cart, higher priced with quick and friendly service. They were shooting a TV show while we were there but the staff was still very focused on the needs of the guests.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice but small"
Nice hotel, I loved the theme and style of it. The first receptionist that greeted was a bit snoody, but the ones we interacted with on check out were great! The rooms are really small and had the "deluxe room". Also good luck finding an outlet to plug in your phone. Other than that they offered some pretty cool services, but we didn't try any of them […] out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming Art Deco hotel with friendly staff."
Overall great hotel - friendly staff, clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. The location is about a 15 minute walk to the waterfront, so it depends on what you are looking for when you decide whether to book this hotel. The area around the hotel was quiet which we liked, and it was an easy walk to more "action". We loved the Art Deco decor, it added […] to the charm of the hotel. We are regular travelers and we definitely recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
To get to the lobby from the street one must climb about ten stairs. Stairs to an almost-80-year-old like me are a no-no. The only alternative was a little elevator that had to be operated by the doorman and that took you to the basement. Other than that, this hotel was very satisfactory.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Front desk staff was helpful when asked for recommendations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Petite elegance"
Yes, it is true that the rooms are small. But this is a gem of a boutique hotel in Portland. The friendly staff made great suggestions that made our stay even more enjoyable. Happy hour at the Driftwood is not to be missed! We would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Fantastic staff, great decor, upscale bedding, and outstanding in room dining. Location is good. A few short blocks to downtown core but far away enough for some peace. Would definitely stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Deluxe Deets"
if yer big on themes -- and or the golden age of hollywood, then this hotel is for you. i thought it was pretty enough, but for me, comfort/location are also equally important. that said, the rooms are quite small, but, yes, very well appointed/stylish (we had a deluxe king). they appear to be well kept/clean. bed = very comfortable. there were only […] 2 drawbacks re: accommodations-- first, the water pressure for the shower wasn't great. i would say it was just on the cusp of not enough but definitely do-able. we also had some standing water as we showered but notified the hotel so that will probably be fixed. second, there is a significant amt of daytime street/garbage truck noise, but things do quiet down substantially at night. as for location, the hotel may be a tad bit removed from other "core downtown area" hotels, but it's close to the pearl, whole foods, etc. and a decent walk from the northwest/nob hill hood. finally, our only real complaint was that one of the driftwood bartenders seemed to have a bit of an attitude on the night we went which seemed to stem from the fact that we just wanted a quick glass of juice before heading up to our room for the evening (we'd planned to return the next night for the full meal & drinks experience). now everyone has bad days so maybe it was an isolated incident, but, never the less, we didn't go back the second night because who needs that when there are plenty of other options in a city like Portland? overall, we'd stay again. "A Night with Hollywood at the Deluxe"
Room nice, but quite small. Bathroom had no place for toiletries. Room (upgraded) was next to the MAX rapid transit system, which is noisy and ran until ~1:00AM. The staff were excellent. The bar scene is alive and raucous. Breakfast was very good. Overall, the Hotel Deluxe was a nice experience. We would definitely come back.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Old Hollywood Hotel"
The hotel is convenient, quality of service was excellent, great location and the hotel is beautiful. The rooms are a bit small and they could use more sound proofing. The staff could not be more helpful when our bill/rooms got screwed up. The worked to make it right. We were pleased with our stay and would return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel Deluxe - Portland"
Hotel was great for the price! Upon arrival, we were immediately checked in, even though we arrived at 10am. The staff was extremely courteous and accommodating. They gave us Californians "loaner" umbrellas. The restaurant at the hotel has delicious breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to friends. I consider it a 4 star hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great value!!"
This was a quick anniversary getaway that did not disappoint. The hotel itself was very clean and the room was immaculate. The bed was uber-comfy, and the linens were very lux. We didn't want to get out of that bed! The only drawback to the room was that it overlooked another rooftop and we could hear the constant whine of the that building's HVAC system. […] The bar in the hotel advertised a champagne cocktail (my fav!) happy hour from 2-6:30pm, but the champagne and wine selections were terrible and not in keeping with the quality atmosphere. I'd have happily paid a couple of bucks more for better wines. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Weeknight stay"
When I walked in I knew that the rooms were a little on the smaller side, but it was very comfortable as far as sleep. Having the Pillow menu was nice, but there were several choices on the bed already. I wish there were more street parking for the overnight, but it was alright. The bed was very comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel deLuxe"
Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Hotel is very clean and bright. Rooms were on the small side and felt cramped. Location is technically close to the Pearl and downtown, but difficult to access because is separated by a highway and is in a strange/undefined neighborhood. Not conducive to walking from the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, shame about high parking & wifi costs"
This is a really nice boutique hotel with a Hollywood theme thoughout. Freindly and helpful staff. However, 22USD for parking nightly or a fraction thereof if you take your car out multiple times is just a bit too much. Then, when you can get broadband access at home for about 10USD per month, to have to pay 10USD per 24hours in a hotel is ridiculous. […] Was the only hotel we stayed in on a west coast road trip that wanted to charge for wifi.... So, it was the only hotel on our trip where we did not use it! "One of the nicest pet-friendly hotels in Portland."
Gorgeous details in both the lobby/indiv. floors as well as the rooms itself. Felt a little wierd to have a puppy stay there with us in such a nice place, but the hotel staff was overjoyed to see him (or at least faked it well) and reassured us that it was very normal at hotel deluxe to bring your pet along. They even provided him with a large pet ped, […] water/food dishes, a toy, and even a complimentary bag of treats! The only bad thing was the size of the rooms apparently designated for pet owners. It was VERY small, one of the smallest rooms Ive stayed in west of the Atlantic, but still managed to be cozy and quaint. Overall it was a great experience. Hotel deluxe is definitely on the high end of the pet friendly spectrum, but if your looking for a bit of luxury with your pet by your side, hotel deluxe is definitely the way to go! "Nice little gem"
Room was small for a Queen Deluxe. That said, it was clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. They made excellent restaurant recommendations and often stopped us on our way out to see if we needed directions. There are lots of good restaurants and shops within walking distance. "Small room"
The decor was very nice, although our room was rather small and dimly lit, which made it difficult to see things in the closet. No arm chair, just a small table and chair. Bathroom had retro subway style tiles, but it was very small, pedestal sink, no counter top for toiletries. Coffee/tea facilities are located on a small cocktail trolley, not much […] room to make coffee, no silverware either. No in room safe! The location is very good, close to the Max red line light rail, that goes to the airport and down town. The MLS soccer stadium is just a couple of blocks away.
