Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront

Has a Starbucks inside! pretty cool that it transfers over to a bar! So I was getting my morning oatmeal and coffee on Cinco de Mayo at around 8am and some older ladies had just ordered a margarita! I realized after watching them being made that I wanted one so bad but I just ordered breakfast snacks/coffee~ LOL! The margarita was made with 2 fresh […] limes juiced ready for serving... The staff also were making some killer bloody mary's in the morning. For the hang out factor of SBuX & the bar!Pretty darn cool. Late night weekend pool visit had some creeper dudes staring at my friends but I'm not sure what the hotel could do about creepy pedofile looking clients that only know how to stare at ladies, really? Other cool factor was.... COMPLIMENTARY Massages! If I had to make suggestions on improvements: I'd say 2 bottles of water (complementary per day) & More shower body towels for 2 queens you should provide at least 4 body towels (plan for 4 people occupying 2 queens) w/ ladies you typically use one for your hair and one for your body... so if you have 4 ladies and provide 3 towels, something is seriously a miss there. It was a short, easy drive from the zoo to the hotel. There is inexpensive parking within a block of the hotel. There are good restaurants within walking distance. You can go for a run on the waterfront right from the hotel. My vehicle was parked (Off Site) at some other unsupervised lot. I had washed it before my trip and expected it to be in the underground parking structure at the hotel not out in some street lot in downtown portland. We had a ADA accessable room on the 5th floor for two nights, overlooking the Willamette river and the main entrance to the hotel. Very comfortable larger clean room, great view. A couple of comments though - a few specific to the room, and one regarding noise level. 1) The shower definitely needed updating - the shower head was removeable, but didn't […] fit the cradle, which didn't adjust to differing angles. Thus, the shower head kept coming out of the cradle and swinging all over the shower stall, spraying water all over. 2) The pillows weren't very comfortable - they were all the non hypo-allegenic variety that never really are pleasant to sleep on. 3) Additionally, because we were above the valet area of the main entrance, we could here the piped-in music, which was set at a loud volume. We thought it was a wedding reception in a ballroom at first, and put up with a fitful nights sleep. The second night I went downstairs and realized it was the speakers for the hotel entrance. I asked the front desk to have the entrance staff turn down the volume, which they promptly did. Other than this our stay was very pleasant. Read more

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel! It was walking distance to all the hot spots! Upon check in, our rooms were on the 3rd floor but, when you opened the curtains all we saw was plastic and scaffling so, we called the front desk to move us. A relatively small hotel when considering other Marriott hotels in major metropolitan areas. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff from the valet, to the doorman, to the front desk. The downtown area is fantastic with beautiful river views. So many good things to see within walking distance. It's a pretty wet city, but the hotel stocks free-to-use umbrellas at the door. The pool, spa, and fitness center is awesome and unexpected when compared to hotels in other metropolitan areas. The only gripe is the hotel charges $12/24 hours for WIFI. This is a typical Marriott - great location, rooms and service. They are doing some construction, so there are lots of delays with elevators. A lower floor might be a good idea if you don't like waiting for crowded elevators.

Despite construction going on at the hotel entry, our stay at the Waterfront Marriot in Portland was very pleasurable. The highlights were the river views and the quality guestroom interiors. One inconvenience was the excessive chlorination of the spa and pool.
