"Great location"
This hotel is conveniently located. The only con I have found at this hotel is a limited amount of good TV channels. That may not matter to the leisure traveler, but I am business traveler and the TV is probably more important. Internet service is great, however. It is in a safe neighborhood and within ten minutes walk, there are Starbucks and Olive Garden. Their gym facility is good. Air-conditioning in the room is good. "Great service-small rooms"
The hotel was located about 15 minutes from downtown pittsburg, which would mean at least a $15-20 cab ride each way. HOWEVER, every hour (8am to 11pm), on the hour, the hotel offered a free van pool ride into town. They even picked us up and took us to the airport! At night, the opened a small "bar" and provided each adult guest with 2 free drink tickets […] from 5-7. Yes, the rooms were small and it was not the cleanest place I've ever been. Overall service and breakfast is good, shuttle to downtown is on time, fast, perfect and priceless. But hallway to the room is so narrow which is difficult to pass with two bags in your hands. Room was too small, I couldn’t believe. No refrigerator, no microwave, no power outlet for laptop near table. I had to unplug coffeemaker or the light under the […] table to use outlet. And the most horrible point was that I have been paid and asked for a nonsmoking room. The room and neighboring rooms in the hallway was nonsmoking, but the couple in the next room started to smoke at 12.10 after midnight till 2.30 AM and smoke was pouring to my room from the connecting door of the rooms. Being sensitive to smoke and having heart problem couldn’t sleep till 4 AM. I told reception about it and he said we will charge him for cleaning the room. I stayed at this hotel many times over the past 5 years. It is in need of a refurbishment very badly. It is clean and ok for the price and most of the employees were nice but it looks like the 1980's. It is next to a very old mall which is mostly abandoned. It does have a good location as to getting into town but my room which was non-smoking had a […] severe smell of smoke. In the past I liked this hotel but it is not so great anymore. The carpets are old, the interior is so- so and I think there are better choices. "Cheap, Clean, Friendly, Unimpressive, & Unwelcoming"
The main reason for going to this hotel is the low price & the shuttle service. You will not get deluxe accomodations or service. Towels are rough & small, but clean. Parts of the facility are obviously in need of repair. It is a maze through an office building to find the only Chinese restaurant or ATM. During the morning, there is also a coffee shop […] which is a bit easier to find.They feature a pool & hot tub, but it is geared towards serving locals. As a guest, you have to walk through a garage & flights of stairs to get there. There was a lifeguard, but he was in another room & he also was trying to usher me out of the door so he could close up. They seem to know they need to do something to make people want to come back, so they host a free cocktail hour. I did not get to it. They offer a free continental breakfast which was convenient, but not very good. Taking the shuttle saved money instead of using cabs. However, you have to work with their schedule & they don't always know the route. I overheard some of the cleaning staff talking about how they don't like how they are treated by management. I also had to wait to take another elevator because the staff didn't seem to feel that guests had the top priority and staff & guests appeared to be using the same elevators. If I needed to pick a cheaper clean place again, I might chose this again for myself if on business. But if I had more money, I would definitely try to find a nicer place. "Shuttle Not What Expected"
The shuttle leaving the hotel in the morning was good for the most part, however getting picked was a nightmare. They have absolutely zero concept of time. I stayed for 5 nights and was going to be using the shuttle service everyday- 3 of the nights after calling and being told "15-20minutes" for pick up from where I was at- I ended up having to take […] a cab back to the hotel after standing outside for 90minutes each of the nights. I couldn't wait inside because the 1st night I did that and called after 45 minutes when I was told "10 minutes" and was told that they had been there and gone when they didn't see me.
