While Texas Hill Country is remarkably beautiful, the city of Kerrville itself feels very urban and industrial compared to nearby towns. It is a wonderful hotel. We just stayed overnight but we could have gotten so much more out of it if we had made it a longer stay. I've got to give the comfort a 1 one this, on the night we stayed, there was no hot water at all, so we couldn't have a shower. Also, disappointed at the breakfast that came with it. We where able to move to a courtyard view after check. That's where you want to be it is beautiful. The breakfast buffet was very good. Inn of the Hills is a hotel with very friendly staff. The front desk clerk took great pains to recommend a German restaurant in nearby Fredricksburg and even called the restaurant for us to find out their operating hours. The hotel restaurant has very good food and a full buffet breakfast. The employees in the restaurant were also extremely friendly […] and helpful. The pool area is like a resort and the pool is beautifully maintained. The hotel is an older hotel, which is the reason we had one issue with it. The air conditioning moisture ran through a pipe that drained into the tub. When the AC was running, the pipe was dripping. If you took a shower you got cold water dripped on you. Free breakfast was far better than the typical fare, with fresh fruit, biscuits and real country gravy, crispy bacon and sausage links, pancakes, hot […] oatmeal, hash browns, scrambled eggs, pastries, etc. Room was lovely, although bed and pillows were a bit too firm and electrical outlets in not the best places for someone to sleep comfortably with a CPAP. Good:The grounds were beautiful and a delightful walk. The dove call in the morning and the sitting area with the waterfall was very relaxing. The conference facilities were very nice as well. Superb breakfast buffet fit for a king! All rooms have microwaves and fridges. Bad: We booked the last available room which had two double beds. We requested that the sheets be changed after our first night and were rewarded with pilled sheets for the new sleeping surfaces . The bed was uncomfortable; the pillows were hard. The carpet was ripped and stained and the ceiling had been patched. There was only decaf coffee available for the coffee pot the first night. This was corrected the second night. AC worked, appliances worked; could not find enough outlets for cell phone and computer; wifi worked. I believe that any other room would have been a better choice. "What's that noise?"
The beginning of the stay was just fine. It's a beautiful lobby. There were no problems getting in and we were settled into our room quickly. My wife had complaints about the room's view which was basically the roof and air conditioner, but I reminded her we would be only using the room for sleep anyway. For the evening we were in town, we went to The […] Kerrville Folk festival which was just about 10 minutes away. When we got back to the hotel sleep was no problem. But at 9:00am we awoke to the sound of HAMMERS. No one had warned us that there was work being done on the hotel roof right outside our window. I can understand that construction crews outside in Texas in June need to get an early start, but if we would have been warned that we would be awaken at 9:00am then I would have been a little more understanding than just to hear the hammers. We had a room that was right next to the roof. I snapped two photos of the view from our room. I gave the front desk an earful about the noise but they made no offer to drop the price of the room or anything. I told her "I guess that was just the universe's way of telling me it's time to go back to Houston." She was nice. I guess there was nothing they could do at that point. Didn't enjoy our stay. We were put in a loft above the lobby. The bed was upstairs above the rest of the room. It was the only thing on that floor. Television, sofa, chair, bathroom, etc. were in same unit, but downstairs from the bedroom. Also, the room was right above the lobby. Piano player played until midnight.
