"Historical Choo Choo Hotel"
When we got off the interstate, we were a bit taken back by the area it is in but once you are parked and in the hotel complex, you are in your own little train village and we forgot all about the area. I would say it could use some updating as far as the rooms and the buildings for rooms but it is "historical". The indoor pool was nice, one night its […] was super heated and comfortable the next day it was not heated at all though. We stayed in a room one night and then a train car. Kids loved the train car and it was a unique experience. Everything seemed clean, everything is just old. We will probably revisit again one day. Food was fair in all restaurants we tried. The beds are very firm, not arthritis friendly. Breakfast is really expensive, with no discount for hotel guests. Other than that, the personnel are very nice, and the location is great. Chattanooga's downtown is a great deal of fun and the Choo-Choo is part of it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Chattanooga Choo Choo Thank you for your 4 star review. Thanks for your comments about the staff! All the Best, Jim Bambrey GM
"poorly maintained"
This place suffers from deferred maintenance. It appears that the owners are taking everything this facility takes in and have been putting little or nothing back for years. I would suspect they will be out of business within 10 years.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Chattanooga Choo Choo I take exception with your comments. I have been here for 11 years, and we have renovated every guest room (363) at this hotel, in addition to all the public areas. 3 1/2 years ago, we finished a 1 million dollar plus renovation to our guest rooms and corridors in Building 3 to brand standards. It is requested regularly by thousands of guests because of the oversized rooms, balcony or patio for each room. We just finished another million dollar renovation to Building 2. In addition our capital plan, we spend $870,000 dollars annually on maintenance and landscaping. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. All the Best, Jim Bambrey GM

"ok stay but don't plan to return"
My experience at this hotel was less than average. Nothing impressive. Nothing to draw me back. Room was spacious but could use updating. Toliet was dirty when we arrived so that immediately turned me off. Bed skirts on bed looked dingy. A cheap sheet type covering was provided for a blanket which was not impressive. This hotel was pet friendly and […] we brought our dog so that was perfect. Great location close to downtown but not at all worth the price unfortunately. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I don't normally even fill these out but felt I needed to this time. Rooms where big but did not seem very kept up. The food at the main dinning was not fresh at all. We ordered a salad that cost $11 and got lettuce that look like it came from a bag with some sliced meet on it. Expected a fresher salad for the price. Waitress was very nice and a good […] server. She has nothing to do with the quality of the food. We gave it a second chance the next morning at the breakfast buffet. Food was better but service was horrible. Had to get up and find a server just to get a refill. The hostess served our table more then our waitress. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect hotel for railroad and Civil War buff!"
My 24 yr old son and I had a great stay. We're both railroad and Civil War buffs and this was the perfect place to stay. Upon check-in, we upgraded to a sleeper car for only $40 more. I gave my son the queen bed and I took the trundle bed, which was comfortable enough. Sleeper car was nicely appointed. Model railroad exhibit was fantastic- one of the […] largest I've ever seen, comparable to the one at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. Breakfast at the main restaurant was very good. The hotel is a bit dated so don't come expecting the Four Seasons. Location was excellent, just off Route 24 and just 6-7 blocks away from the restaurant/entertainment district. "OK place to stay but there are better options..."
It was a convenient place to stay in relation to our plans but I don't know that I would stay there again. There are more convenient places to stay that appear to be nicer and in a better part of town. My wife chose this one because of the gimmicky appearance. The rooms were clean but the bed was not at all comfortable and it was pretty noisy outside […] most of the night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Avoid at all cost!"
My wife and I stayed one night. The place smells bad. The elevator is outside with glass and noisy. Heard it all night. Expensive. No continental breakfast or even coffee. They even charge you $5 to PARK your car a long way from your building, ridiculous. I'm serious, the desk charged me that along with the room charges. I booked king, they gave us […] 2 queens (smaller room) then got snippy when I wanted to move to king I booked. I had to show online confirmation before they would move us. The entire experience was bad. I won't stay there again when I visit my college student daughter. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good...not great"
Good for a short family get away. Other than the entry hall and a few rail cars, there was little to back the name of the hotel. Location was good, but you could get a place closer to the down town, too. So...if you can get this for a good price, go for it once. I thought I overpaid, but that's because I booked a week before the trip.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Family Vacation at the Choo-Choo"
It was a very nice location and a very interesting property. Very historic hotel and the rooms show their age, but we knew it wasn't a brand new resort, so it wasn't a big deal. It was clean and the staff was great. It would be nice to have a mini fridge and microwave in the rooms, since we were travelling by car, we had to constantly keep ice in the […] coolers. "Loved the train station lobby"
Just loved the train station lobby. The bathrooms in the lobby were fabulous. A true dressing parlor. You just don't see that any more. I do wish the rooms would have had a safe in them. In the heart of downtown. Very close to everything you need to see and do. We would absolutely stay the again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect."
After our recent visit of the Ramada In Chattanooga we were highly disqusted with having to stay a whole week there. My party and I had to find a hotel within hours of arrving. After going for a bit at the Choo Choo refered to by a friendly couple riding the shuttle we were so impressed by the hotel that we immediately called for reservations. You also […] can't beat the price when comparing it to the Ramada just because we were on a budget and trying to stay cheaper. With only 30$ more we got alot more features than with the other hotel with also being in the heart of downtown and secure safetly 24/7. This hotel has historic charm, not your up to date hotel but that's one of the reasons why we love this hotel. I will so come back here again. We were very please. Something for eveyone to check out! "Relaxing by the waterfall."
My husband and I stayed in a deluxe king room, in building 3 and it was really nice. The pool there has a waterfall and the hot tub was in the middle of the pool, When we got to the room we liked the spaciousness of it. When we opened the door to the private balcony we could hear the waterfall which was very relaxing. (We loved being able to hear the […] waterfall) We really loved that. The downfalls were, that you have to pay for parking per night and other than the Gardens Restaurant there weren't any restaurants that that were close enough to walk to. "Takes you back in time"
We really enjoyed our stay at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. The grounds are very nice with the gardens, pools, and train cars. My husband is a big train buff, so he really enjoyed walking the grounds and seeing the train cars along the track. We will have to go back when my son is older to be able to see the engine again. We stayed in building 3. I loved […] having the balcony because it overlooked the pool with the waterfall. It was definitely a calming sound especially for my 2 month old who loves to go outside. We had trouble with our telephone in the room, but we used our cell phone to call the front desk and the maintenance workers came to try to fix it immediately. I also requested a refrigerator and that came quickly as well. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The service was great along with the atmosphere. It gave a good vibe of what it would have been like at train stations years ago. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Never Again"
We paid a good amount of money for a DELUXE room. No microwave, no refrigerator, no freezer, and dirty as can be floors. The only deluxe thing was the pool. Gos to 7ft but does not have a bar like said. Has jacuzzi. That's it. And a balcony. Workers know where to eat and point you in the right direction. That's it. "Last-minute Choo-Choo"
While on a family vacation, we planned to stay in Chattanooga for one night. We had some hotels in mind, but did not want to commit without seeing them first. Glad we did that, as the two we were thinking about were in BAD locations. We googled Hotels.com, and the Chattanooga Choo-Choo popped up with a 10% off rate offer. We called the Hotels.com number […] and got an adviser who was most helpful and booked us immediately. We arrived at the hotel moments later and were told that our reservation had not been received yet, but that they would call us when it arrived. We hung around the hotel for a bit, and then received the call that the room was ready. We checked in to our 2-double bed room, and headed out for dinner. We thought about dining on-property, but it was pretty loud and our kids weren't interested, so we went to the Terminal Brewhouse right around the corner. It was a great spot with good fresh choices and tasty adult beverages. The next morning we walked around the corner to Niedlov's Bakery after trying some of their bread the night before at Terminal, and it was wonderful. We then enjoyed the free electric shuttle buses, taking in the Waterfront Park, Moon Pie Country Store, and the fountains around the aquarium. Hit the road for Lookout Mountain and Ruby Falls. Had a great lunch in St. Elmo at The Purple Daisy, very good and reasonable. A great trip to Chattanooga! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Historical Hotel close to Lookout Mnt"
We enjoyed staying at the Choo Choo, at first we were concerned about staying downtown until we discovered all the hotels near Lookout Mnt were downtown and the other like Hampton and Holiday Inn were in a industrial park. The Choo Choo was alot of fun, the kids loved the waterfall pool and the the trains in the courtyard and I loved the beautiful train […] station lobby. The hotel is older and in need of some repair, but our room was clean and the staff was very nice. Definitely a different hotel. Yeah it could use some fresh paint but it was so different from every other hotel we loved it!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
On a good note, the hotel service at the restaurant was excellent, we had the friendliest and helpful server for our evening meal – which was outstanding, we had the best cheese sticks and our server was very helpful with the area events, sites to see and transportation options. The hotel rooms do not look like the website! The quality of the rooms […] needs updating, the beds are uncomfortable, and the carpets need replacing or at least cleaning and stretching as the first room we were in had several wrinkles and had a pet odor. Although I am a pet owner, the hotel needs to rethink allowing pets in all rooms; we had to request a room change because of the pet odor and overall room condition. I liked the place overall, you can see it is not kept up well enough but the shops, location, and indoor pool make up for that. the issue I had was the pizza was horrible, and the outdoor pools water was freezing. "MAJOR DISSAPPOINTMENT!"
Without a doubt one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had! On our late arrival the parking lots around the entire hotel was dark , when we entered our room we discovered that we were not in a handicapped room with a roll in shower and two queen beds but we were in a room with 2 double beds, a regular tub. The bathroom was so small i was unable […] to even get my wheelchair thru the door. When we called the front desk they informed us that they did have a handicap room but only a King bed and we would not be charged for a rollaway bed (WOW). After informing them that we were confirmed thru Hotels.com with a handicap room with a roll in shower, the desk clerk told us that she checked the reservation and that there was no mention of a handicap room with a roll in shower. The room was very outdated, lamps were broken, the security latch on the door was half way ripped off the door (that made us feel all safe and secure) plus outside doors on the building were suppose to be accessible with card keys only , were open to the world (24hrs.)! The building in which we stayed had two very small steep ramps coming into the building both with a 2" level difference that required my family's help to keep my wheelchair upright. There was not a single light bulb in any one of the numerous light /lamp poles in the parking lots. I cannot tell you how disappointed i am in a hotel that is suppose to be a well known tourist spot for Chattanooga and for TN. They deserve less than a 1! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
