Hotel is in great location, close to restaurants, stores, and on the beach. But the carpet was "sticky" and dirty. My husband forgot slippers and after walking on carpet the day it rained (we stayed in) his feet were black. Disgusting! The shower rod was falling off wall at both ends so the curtain hung in the middle leaving the sides exposed. The maid […] never cleaned our room; we were there from Friday til Monday. "sloppy stay"
We checked in on Wednesday night, registered to leave Saturday morning. We left for the morning on Friday, and came back around 2PM. We had a load of stuff to bring into our rooms. None of the keys for either of our rooms worked. I went down to reception, explained our situation, and the desk clerk gave me new keys for both rooms, which worked. I asked […] her why our keys failed, she responded, "I have no idea". It would seem to me that the start and end time for each key made would be on the computer, but she did not offer that information. When we opened the room doors, we saw that housekeeping had avoided both rooms. It seems to me that when we arrived Wednesday, the desk clerk had us leaving on Friday instead of Saturday. It would have been better if the Friday clerk had been honest and not lied about why our keys failed. Second, trying to keep a steady 72 degrees or thereabouts was a real problem. The thermostat system is strange, and there are no explanations about getting the temperature right. Make sure your balcony door is closed to hotel specs or the system fails completely. Third, it would have been nice to have orange juice at the breakfast, but always seemed to run out first. On our last morning, they refilled, but the juice was not cold. Our room was on the 3rd floor gulf side balcony and what a beautiful view--definitely worth paying extra for. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The people on either side of us were noisy in the night, (children jumping off the beds and screaming at 2a.m.) But it was the weekend, so I guess a little more wild behavior is to be expected. I was disappointed in the condition of my room. There were patch work repairs on the walls, ceiling, and bathroom that were poorly done and with no thought as to having them match the rest of the room. "High price for a hot room."
The staff was friendly and we got to check-in early with ease. When we got to our room on the 4th floor & it was 81 degrees. We tried to turn the thermostat down to 76 degrees but after an hour it was still 80 degrees so they switched us to another room on the 2nd floor where it was still 80 degrees in the room & not cooling so we switched to another […] room where we were told about the eco-friendly cooling system. We propped open the door as long as we could because the hallway was very cool and we were not the only ones doing this. This would be my only complaint about this hotel. A word to the wise, however--there is a Hilton property right next door, which is also the same company that owns Hampton Inn. Good sushi bar, but the rest of the restaurant is a major over-reach for the inadequate staff. Lousy entrees, glacially slow service that couldn't have been more indifferent, and all at premium prices. Not to take away from our stay at the Hampton, which was exemplary in every way.
