For the price I paid, the quality of the room and the level of service needed to be taken up a notch. Staff in the restaurant was helpful, but the front office terrible. The room looked warn out. I would have expected this level of hotel for 50% of the rate paid.

The hotel was very elegant and the rooms were very clean. The only issues I had were the breakfast was served cold and the room I stayed in was too small. I expected the rooms to be a little more spacious for the price I paid. Other then this the location was perfect and I felt comfortable in the room just wish it would have been a little bigger.

It is over rated, I was very disappointed and embarassed when they did not have a single danish pastry or croissant for breakfast! Before checking into this hotel I really searched the internet and I read lots of reviews. My sister was vositing from Itly and I was hoping to have a gret experience. I chose the Hadsen house because of the hot breakfast […] buffet. WHAT a DISAPPOINTEMENT! Nothing sweet to have with coffees; the potatos were so small and dry that we could't eat. When I told the front desk they did not apologize. They said "We know of the problem and we are adressing it."....too late for us. We went somewhre else to have breakfast. Read more

Don't get fooled by nice pictures. This hotel is nothing but a motel. The room size is very small. You can hear toilet flush from adjecent rooms. We requested extra towel as we were 4 ppl in douoble room and it took them 4 hours to get one. The free wine quality is very cheap. In the morning breakfast they ran out of pastries at 8:00 AM. This hotel located in downtown Solvang and is apparently a converted Vagabond Inn. In fact, had I not had a reservation, I might not have given it a try. But I relied upon fellow Hotels.com reviewers (who gave it 96% positive ratings), and we were not disappointed. It is built in the older "drive up to your room" motel style, two stories with the parking […] spaces in front of the buildings. However, that's where the similarity to a "Vagabond" ends. This facility has been completely upgraded, from the lovely and upscale "office" to the very nicely appointed rooms. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. The menu is sophisticated. Everyone at the hotel was nice, from front desk staff to the restaunt waitresses, to the maids, and we had no problems. For me, the friendliness of the staff is a major plus. However, I have a few caveats for those who want to know the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth (so help me, Hotels.com!) Because the hotel (like many others in Solvang) is on the main highway through town, traffic noise can be an issue, and was with us as our room was within 5 rooms of the street. I would suggest you choose a room near the back. Also, internet was intermittent during our stay, even though the signal was strong. May have been a temporary problem. The other obvious issue, that cannot be solved, is that with the parking spaces right in front of our first floor room, there was lots of noise, car doors and conversations well after 10pm. For this I suggest the second floor. Although I slept OK, my wife did not like the feel of the mattress, as she felt it was too hard. Our room rate included breakfast, but I would have to rate the breakfast buffet as a B- grade. Surprisingly, the cheapest breakfast item, cereal, was not even offered (nor was toast). We were shocked to discover our bed linens were filthy. While housekeeping promptly arrived to change them out, there was no acknowledement from anyone at the hotel that this had happened.
