The hotel is under construction; the restaurant and bar particularly. This is not a hotel catering those wanting a very nice rest./bar experience now. It may improve when the construction is complete. The staff is friendly. The breakfast food quality is better than I expected with attentive staff.

I thought the room was nice at first, but then I noticed something fly across the room when the a.c. kicked on. I looked up at the air vent and it looked like it had never been cleaned. Not only did the vent look dirty, but so did the wall surrounding it. Same for the vent in the bathroom. I had a great night's sleep, but the shower the next morning […] seemed like a battle for a comfortable temperature. I got it just right and jumped in only to be surprised when the water suddenly became too hot to stand under. We stopped here just for one night during a road trip...didn't have much to go on online...was pleasantly surprised. Has been renovated and is very nice. A/C unit in room was a little loud but other than that no complaints. Restaurant, separate bar area with food available...I would stay again!

I was disappointed at the rate of this room verses the amenities. There was no refrigerator for cold drinks and ice. The ice machine on our floor was broken. Had to go upstairs for ice machine that was very slow. The size of tv was great but we kept losing the signal in the middle of an Olympic event! There was no free continental breakfast and the […] coffee was $2.00 a cup in the lobby. The hotel is under renovation which was going on past 10:00pm. We have a baby that was trying to sleep and it was difficult with all the construction going on. It looks like the hotel will be pretty nice after completed, but I was kind of disappointed they had the workers staying so late. Very nice pool and pretty close to downtown action.

During our stay, my guest and I experienced an infestation of ants in the room. We received no formal apology, and were treated as if it were our fault. The only thing they did for us was change our room. Don't come to this hotel if you like being treated well. our room has been upgraded - however the shower handle fell off - could not get the room temperature to move - new control - stuck in ac mode - instead of heat. the fitness center is horrible - ok place if you need to spend the night somewhere - very noise - lots of kids have parties there - so they were running around all the time.

The staff was very pleasant & helpful. The food at the event we were there for was awful. The room only had 3 sets of towels even though we made reservations for 4 & checked in with 4, so we had to wait for another set to be brought up. There was no hair dryer in the room, we had to ask for it to be brought up. The tissue box was empty & we had to ask […] for some to be brought up. We could not get the room to cool even by setting the temp to 65. The room was located directly above the bar & we could hear every word of every song the band played until the bar closed. My only complaint besides the price is the condition of the guest room bathrooms. The wallpaper was peeling off and there was mold on the ceiling. Have tried to book this hotel twice before and there was never any vacancy. Tried to book direct last week and there was no vacancy. I then tried to book the very same over night date on expedia and I was confirmed. I looked for the amenities that were indicated and the location is just blocks away from my acquaintance. In my opinion its a fun hotel […] typical of Holiday Inn's. I forgot my room number and lost my way to my room, but the front desk set me straight. It was a nice corner room #40 I honestly did not notice anything amiss for price and last minute booking. I had a good nights sleep, after driving five hours from Rhode Island. In the morning I was confused about the in room coffee. I did not see a small coffee pot, the front desk cheerfully informed it was just a one cup maker to just put the cup under it. The coffee hit the spot, check out time was 12 noon. I really had a good nites rest here. The time flew by. I would rather book here again because its less money to close than the Bridgewater Marriott, much further away south east. Hampton Inn was booked. I don't get why so many seem disappointed with the Clinton Holiday Inn when it is all ways booked / no vacancy. I will take my chance next time too. Read more

I found very few people who were helpful or nice. We needed to evacuate from a flooded area due to a Hurricane warning and chose this hotel so we would be close to family and friends in area. We booked an extra day in case we couldn't go back home or something worse had happened to our home. Luckily, we were able to leave a day earlier and hotels.com […] allowed us to cancel or make any changes due to the Hurricane without fees or questions. I was thankful for that. I spoke to the first desk and explained my story and got nothing from them. I asked them for assistance with the change. What I needed to do, if I would incur fees from the hotel if I made changes, etc...They offered no assistance. Not even assistance to contact hotels.com to change my stay. Not even, I am so sorry you needed to travel all this way, nothing. The one thing they did was yell at my kids, 2 and 4 yr old) in the lobby because they were touching the atm machine. By the way, having 3 kids and others with me, we booked 4 rooms in total and I asked a dozen times to have a fridge in at least 1 of the rooms, I was told I would. Then, noticing not one in any of the rooms, I called the first desk and was told unless I booked a suite, the room would not have one. This is after I explained my story yet again to someone else. Very poor room condition had mold on the ceeling the ac was not working properly the room and the bathroom smeeled so bat that i could not stay all night checkeed out at 3:00 am. Too bad, nice facilities that need urgent care and renovations.

Staff was very accommodating even at my late hour of arrival. Parking is off one side of the bldg so get their first for a good spot. Breakfast buffet was great. Had a lively nightlife if you tire of sitting in your room.

Upon arrival there were no pillow cases on the pillows. The bathroom was dirty, they need to invest in some Clorox for the tub and floor areas. The Holiday Inn Select, in Clinton, NJ, is showing its age in many places. While the lobby, dining area and lounge are fairly nice, the rooms are in desperate need of modernization. The television in our room would have been considered poor in the 1980s, and there were not enough chairs in the room to allow everyone a seat when our local hosts came […] to meet us at the room. The housekeeping was unsatisfactory. We found a styrofoam food container, with leftover food still in it, underneath the bed! The pool, while advertised as indoors, was frigid, as was the patio area around it. Until improvements are made to the property, and the service is improved, we recommend looking elsewhere.
