"not so fond memories"
I had stayed at this property numerous times under its former ownership (as a Holiday Inn). I assumed that the same high level of service and comfort would exist, only a name change, right? Not so fast. My first clue should have been the 20 or so hotel guests who were our smoking near the front door as I entered to check in, during some sort of a break […] for a meeting. After checking in and being given directions to my room, i was told to enter through a side door, at which was a trash receptacle overflowing with beer bottles and fast food containers. Mind you, I was checking in at 1:30pm. The room itself was not terrible, until the next morning when I tried to shave, only to find my sink was backed up with foul smelling water. No worries, I can check shave in the shower. Except after letting the water run for a good five minutes remained cold as ice. Unable to shower, and shaving with cold shower water, I went downstairs to check out. I pointed out to the front desk attendant that I had a few issues with the room, and asked for nothing. She was pleasant enough, and told me she would pass along my concerns to the manager., who was not in. However, after I turned my back and saw the manager talking to two other unhappy guests, I realized the nice lady was just trying to avoid helping me out or addressing any concerns. "Honest review"
The hotel lobby is nice, the hallways are horrible. The height is only 6.5 tall. It's an old hotel that has had a few thing added to bring it to date. Bed is comfortable but covers are thin and barely a sheet. They only provide 1 washcloth, and 1 towel for a king size room. Breakfast is 11$ for cereal, sausage and gravy, a few other things. Not worth […] the money at all!! Customer service is horrible. Guy at front desk is rude. another customer had called in and asked why they hadn't picked him up yet and then he said they didn't see him (lied) and told the guy to go pick him up. It was awful! No key needed to go into hallway to get to room( poor security)... Tried to use computer in business center but someone who stated he was not a guest was using it and wouldn't let me use the computer. Didn't feel like a good neighborhood. Rooms are OK but when walking to your room it seems a 1950 hotel. Why they just remodel the lobby and rooms? Why the carpets look so old and nasty? Old, horrible TV. "bad service!!!"
First, I had to walk back n forth from my room to front desk cause the room would not open. Their service technicians, including the manager, could not figure out what the problem was. When they finally gave me another room, it had two double beds, when I specifically asked n reserved a room with king size bed. "cheap for a reason"
The hotel staff are the main detriment to the hotel. Other then a broken desk chair, which they replaced, the main problem here is the staff. I asked the front desk if they knew of a gas station and the person just put in dallas gas station and printed it out. Said the first one is the closest. It was 17 miles away. Did my own search and found one less […] than a mile. The night front desk lady was both mean and sarcastic. I did not and would not set foot in the pool so cannot say how that was but the hotel itself was huge and clean enough. The elevators work sporatically. The hotel has a good location and seemed safe so good for a quick stay if you need nothing from the staff. If you want customer service, do not stay here. When I asked about a new chair the first night the lady laughed at me and said " What you cannot remember your room number?" when I could not immediately give it to them. The drive up appeal of the hotel and the common areas are disappointing and the hotel has an unpleasant smell. Having said that, at the nightly rate, it is well worth it having very good quality bedding and towels, free wifi and parking.
