My wife & I came up by train for busman's holiday. Selected this hotel based on ratings in Expedia and it's location on a metro stop. For the cost, I cannot imagine a better choice in a location this close to the Capital Mall. Staff was very nice and the room was clean & quite on the 8th floor. What I really like about the hotel is that you can check in anytime. It's a hotel that's convenient to 7 Eleven, Harris Teeter and a few other places. I've looked at this hotel many times due its proximity to the Metro, where I can get to my events and sightseeing. I booked it this time due the great rates and was very pleased. "Service and Hospitality Second to None"
From start to finish, my experience at this hotel was great! The staff were friendly and helpful, especially when finding out that I had left the mapquest directions to my brother's church at home in Florida. A staff member printed out the directions to the church for the wedding. When I forgot to have the return directions printed out, another staff […] member did so. When my brother, whose car I was using, called to say he could not find the keys to the church, a parking staff member let me check the car (the keys were under an umbrella on the back seat). The Bistro staff were wonderful. They made recommendations and did not seem to mind when I'd say I wanted only a light breakfast or a light dinner. I am still talking about the soup I bought when I'd only planned to buy a sandwich. The Bistro staff member kept saying, "It's vegetarian, and he'd recite the ingredients aloud." I just couldn't take it anymore and just had to buy that soup! It was so delicious!! When I wanted to heat up leftovers, the microwave was available. I had a great experience . It is conveniently located next to the train stop, so that was a huge plus for someone like me that has never been to downtown DC. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. This was important to me as this was a new experience and I had nothing to prepare me for being in a downtown location. They made me feel like they would […] help me understand or handle anything that came my way. The room was comfortable, the bed - very comfortable! Even the pull out sofa didn't kill your back! The bathroom was well designed and the shower had pressure! A couple special things - even though I couldn't hear a separate fan in the bathroom there must have been something that circulated the air in there without being noisy, the bathroom didn't get steamy and always smelled fresh (I want that at home!). They also had enough plugs for all the electronics on the desk, very convenient. The two things that were a negative - the internet connection, very slow, extremely difficult to use my IPAD and their computers downstairs never did work. My smart phone worked great though - lots of satellites around I guess. Also, there wasn't any mirror in the main part of the room, most of us like to give a once over before we go out, the only full length mirror was on the back of the bathroom door. That mirror didn't reflect like a regular mirror, I couldn't see fine detail for putting on makeup, so I had to lean over the sink to do it which was awkward. Some may be turned off by this hotel because of the location - however, it is very conveniently located right off the NY Ave metro stop on the red line - you literally walk out of the metro and are RIGHT at the hotel. This makes it very easy to get anywhere in DC on the metro - and since DC is such a small city, it does not take much time either. No […] point in paying ridiculous amounts to stay in Dupont Circle when you can stay here for a much better price and get there in 15min on the metro! The hotel is new and looks that way. It looks great and the rooms and associated bathroom were VERY clean. I stayed in a room with 2 queens - all of which apparently face the tracks of the metro - however, I personally never heard the metro or any sound it did make was so negligible that it did not disturb my sleep. The price per night on a weekend is very reasonable and is likely the best deal you can get to be in DC, right next to a metro stop, and in a very clean room. The staff was all very friendly and accommodating - my friend left some jewelry in the room and realized after we had already checked out - we called and the jewelry was located and we were able to pick it up. Very friendly and accommodating staff. The hotel is also immediately surrounded by a few food joints - including a nice and new 7-11, au bon pain, a taco joint (I think), and a 5 guys burger place.
