I can't tell you how disappointing this place was given its cost. When I first arrived there was no space to park in front to check in or unload luggage. No valet or concierge service whatsoever. The front desk was extremely understaffed, though they mostly tried their best. There was a pervasive sewage smell in all the rooms. The last time I stayed in DC the place was a dump. It was such a relief when I checked into the Eldon suites. The rooms are spacious, clean and have their own kitchens! There's a Safeway just down L street too! The shower is fricken amazing ... I took like 2 showers a day. Only draw backs are the construction across the street. They start at 5am. So […] if you get a room that faces L st. ask for another cuz its loud. Also the internet was spotty, which would have been fine for just casual surfing but it I had to bust out my mifi to do a demo from my room. Ekldon Luxury Suietes would live up to their name - the rooms are beautiful, well appointed, with lots of nice surprises like a fabulous shower with multiple heads to spray water at you at a many angles, wood walls, tile floors. Not really luxury. My room was DIY luxury. Some really nice touches. But then streaks of black mold that was not addressed or followed up on even after complaining. The shower leaked water everywhere. The closets looked like something out of a cheap dorm room. The area around had boarded up dilapidated buildings (safe?). Plus what luxury hotel offers […] breakfast for five bucks!?! To top it all off, when I checked in, no one came to the front desk for 15 minutes!!! I called the hotel from its own lobby and no one picked up. I dinged the bell on the counter and no one came. Finally the guy who shows up acts like its no big deal. Just bizarre. Would not return. Beautiful suite and full kitchen. Staff friendly and helpful. Very good restaurants within a short walk. Taxi and Metro accessible. Don't let the construction zones deter anyone from staying here. We can't wait to find a reason to stay here again, for business or pleasure. Highly recommended.

This is a really nice hotel for the price. The rooms are well kept and very comfortable. The staff are very helpful and accomodating. It is a few blocks from the metro station of Mt. Vernon/Conv. Center which is on the direct line from the Reagan/DCA airport metro. The neighborhood is the only downside. 1/2 block from the center of the convention center. Outstanding location for connection to the Metro at the Convention Center. Down side - Most of the buildings around the area are boarded up. Lots of construction noise. The floors are marble so they are cold and noisy. The $9.95 breakfast buffet is best avoided. It consisted of a very slow toaster, […] frozen cream cheese and butter, and most items hotels give away for breakfast (cereal, etc.) They did provide a paper-wrapped breakfast sandwich (no selection). Getting a cab is challenging, however the hotel does have a car and driver (at a rate higher than cab service). The room is truly one bedroom apartment. Quite spacious. There is a kitchen - good because there are no restaurants within reasonable walking distance. Not that you would want to walk to one after dark. There is free wired internet, but the internet connection is at the kitchen bar and the work station is in the hallway. A long Cat 5 wire is provided. There is no TV set in the bedroom. The Eldon was the perfect place to stay for my conference at the convention center, half a block away, and within a mile or so walk to all the museums and historical locations of D.C. or a metro train ride away for those not fond of walking (stop located at the convention center). The room was very clean, the staff very friendly and responsive to requests, […] but I wouldn't say they went above an beyond what I expected for the price. Amazing price for having a full kitchen and plenty of space! There are some buildings on the block that are being torn down and redone, but it is a safe and friendly neighborhood. We enjoyed our stay at the Eldon Luxury Suite, we were in DC for a confence held at the convention center. Hotel was located a block away. There were plenty of nice restaurant in walking distance. The shower in the bath leaked, I think this was more an installation problem and not maintenance issue. Our teenage daughter traveled with us on this trip […] and hated the mattress on the pullout, very uncomfortable. Parking in gated lot with questionable security.
