Lawmakers handle the nation’s business at the US Capitol, where Freedom peers across the land atop her perch on the rotunda. Many members of Congress live in the brick row houses near the Capitol complex. Across the street, the Supreme Court—the third branch of government—interprets the law. Nearby, the restored Union Station is a transit terminal and dining hotspot.

The hotel is perfect for business travelers and non-family tourists. It is a "pet friendly" hotel but they dont have anywhere to walk the dogs, no bags for pick-ups, no trash cans to dispose of those pick-ups and no doggy "hospitality" items like other hotels. They also require a $75 pet fee forbhaving the dogs buy again, not very hospitable for them. […] I would love to stay at the hotel without my pets, however, I will never stay at the Mandarin with my pets. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Glorified Marriott"
Situated in an office park this hotel doesn't live up to the Mandarin Oriental brand.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"disappointing rooms - dated and shabby"
Lobby is very nice, so is pool/spa area. We stayed in a deluxe waterview double room. Although we thought the bathroom in the room was lovely, the rest of the room was very dated and a bit shabby. We were very disapointed, and will not return to this hotel. Also, in our "waterview" room we could only see the water if we put our head right next to the […] window and looked way over to the left. It felt like we had been a bit conned actually, which was a shame because we had looking forward to our DC trip. This definately put a bit of a damper on the trip. "Manderin Oriental Capital Hill Washington DC"
Love the turn down service with the bottle of water...nice touch. Should offer pay per view TV somewhere in the hotel. We were unable to find a nearby place to watch a pay perview event during our stay and the hotel didn't offer it either. Overall very nice hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Carpet very dirty. Not a 5 star hotel. Would recommend St. Regis or Ritz.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel for business but not for leisure"
I knew most high end hotels in D.C. are typically overpriced but i expected a larger room at Mandarin as well as better views for the cityview room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"over rated"
Lot of hype, without a lot to back it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Mandarin in DC"
Lovely accomodations but not the same as our experience in Asia. We paid up for a "city view" and when we got to our room ended up looking straight into another building. The continental breakfast in the Tai Pan room was disappointing. They were out of everything. The staff was happy to bring restock food and coffee but we had to ask before they would […] do it. I was disappointed give it was a Mandarin Hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice place, poor location."
Beautiful hotel. The service in the lounge was a little slow and generally so-so. For us the location was the biggest let down. It wasn't very conducive to exploring the city by foot or walking to get a bite to eat. Cabs seemed the be the way you had to go because driving is too much of a pain in DC if you're not familiar with the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Really nice hotel, but not very convenient location. The neighborhood had no charm and it was not near any metro station. It was near Washington DC Mall and several museums.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"An inferior Mandarin Oriental"
The question is whether a lower price, views of the water and Jefferson Memorial plus a great spa and gym make up for trains rattling past the bedroom window (including at the weekends) and a very busy road around most of the hotel. In my opinion the answer is no.Genuine Expedia guest review

The service in the lounge in the lobby was marginal, and drinks were very expensive when they finally arrived. The quality is high however.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Mandarin Hotel Washington DC"
Hotel was in a nice location and easy to get to. However, we paid extra for the Tai Pan floor and the Tai Pan lounge and it definitely wasnt worth it. The breakfast was fine but the lunch and dinner set up in the Tai Pan lounge was lacking. The warm hoerderves were very cheaply made(frozen out of a box for sure!). The staff in the Tai Pan lounge was […] great at the initial greeting but lacked in service for drinks or anything else. Asking for something seemed like an inconvenience for them. The spa at hotel was very nice as well. Service was extremely so in the lounge in the lobby as well and the food wasnt very good. Best bet is not to eat at this hotel but eat out if you can. The gentleman that runs the coffee shop/gift shop in the lobby was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was on the small side but very clean. However, the city view room we had also came with the sound of the train that passes the hotel at least twice a night. The water side might have been a better option!
