Georgetown is DC at its most cosmopolitan. Here, Beltway bigwigs hold court at fine restaurants along M Street, a bustling shopping thoroughfare. Twentysomethings network at its trendy bars. Georgetown University dominates its west side, while rival George Washington University takes a chunk of Foggy Bottom. That area includes offices to major law firms, corporations, and the World Bank.

"Skip the Avenue Suites for a while!"
The word "renovated" should be replaced with under construction. We woke up every morning to the sound of drills and hammers. There was no hot water one night! The folks at the front desk seemed not to care. Every time you leave or enter the hotel, you have to maneuver past the construction workers.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Avenue Suites"
The hotel was very confused about our reservation. I was told (in a phone call to the hotel confirming the reservation) that our rooms--with a certain configuration of beds--was guaranteed, but that was not so. We needed to use a roll away in some of the rooms, and our third room was actually a sister hotel located 3 blocks down the road. Other than […] that, all was ok. It is an excellent location and the rooms were fine. But we were a big group (15 altogether) and it was quite frustrating to run into this problem. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unpleasantly surprised!"
Substantial construction is currently going on at the hotel. Stay away from this hotel if you are celebrating a special occasion. It is on the level of a motel 6.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Dont do it!"
Room was dirty, old and rundown. Dresser was missing a drawer. Not worth it and very disappointing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Avoid at all costs"
Hotel is undergoing renovation: lobby and fitness center are closed; there's no security or staff watching people enter from the street to the elevators; heat and A/C were turned off due to change in season; I was told to open my windows but they were ancient and stuck: I had to call maintenance. None of the known planned renovation work was communicated […] in the Expedia property description. Paid a 3-star hotel rate for a 1-star experience. I was completely ripped off. "Washington Suites-DO NOT STAY"
Found the hotel not what we expected. The people are pushy, not friendly, and the hotel under construction. It was noisy and not at all comfortable. We would not stay there ever again. The cars must be valet parked and they don't give you much chance to get things out before they take the car away. It is very difficult to find the place and harder to […] check in. If you need to ask directions-don't-they have no idea where to send you. We got lost for a long time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bad deal"
Parking very expensive and the room was very basic and uninviting. For the price it would have been better to pay a little more and stay somewhere that didn't feel so down and out. On arriving, one felt like getting out of the room immediately, fortunately we were able to prise the windows open a bit to get a little fresh air.Genuine Expedia guest review
"washington suites - stay away"
We are family of four that stayed here in mid September, 2011 for 3 nights. They are going through a lot of construction the Jack-hammering starts at 9 am and is so loud it forces you from your room. The construction is inside and out, so you can't get away from it. A low budget breakfast is available before the construction starts but nowhere to eat. […] Rooms are dated, lots of noise, poor breakfast, over-priced, and a good location make this a one star hotel. I feel for the woman at checkout because everyone was complaining how loud it was and that it should have been disclosed. Find an alternative, you can do better! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Under construction - stay away until 2012"
hotel.com should not offer this hotel for the toime being, I have stayed there before , and it was always good, Right now, it is under reconstruction, no decent reception, no lobby, no breakfast room. Also, the guest rooms apparently need upgrades and will be under remodeling soon. According to their posted announcements, this will go on until 2012. […] Until they a finished, this will not be a comfortable place and is hghly overpriced for the time being. The people at the reception did not seem to care, and their was no help aorund for luggage etc. The poor provisional breakfast room closed 10 minutes before the posted time of 09:30 am. "Great Place to Stay in DC"
Our family of three was very pleased with the George Washington Suites. The staff was polite and helpful and the hotel was situated close to shopping and grocery stores. The hotel is in walking distance of the Metro and historic Georgetown. We'll be back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Don't even think about it"
My husband and I stayed at this hotel with our three children (ages 5-7) and another family member. I picked this hotel because of the great reviews and because of the fact that it was the only one on Expedia that would accept 6 people in one room (including our three children). When we got to the room I was very disappointed at the size - 600 square […] feet sounds like it's kind of big but really it's not. Second disappointment, the hotel does not turn on the air conditioning in November. Normally this wouldn't present a problem but unfortunately the temperatures in the room were not very comfortable to sleep in (and we are from Miami so we are used to hot weather but not for sleeping!). We couldn't turn on the a/c so we had to open the windows in order to sleep. BIG PROBLEM!!! This hotel is located near a college town and there are a lot of people on the street at all hours and trust me, they are extremely noisy no matter the hour. In addition to the noise from the lovely college students, there are apparently no noise laws in D.C. that prohibit people travelling in vehicles from honking their horns at all hours of the night - and trust me again, there is a lot of honking on that street because there is a lot of traffic. Needless to say, we did not enjoy restful sleep for any of the four nights we stayed there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
