Designed by architect Morris Lapidus, whose work defined the Miami Beach-resort style, The Capitol Skyline Hotel has retained some retro features even after being extensively renovated. Guests have access to a seasonal outdoor pool and a poolside bar. A fitness center offers another recreation option. The Lapidus Restaurant serves American fare for breakfast and dinner. The lounge opens in the late afternoon and shows sporting events on a big-screen TV. Happy hour and Wednesday-night comedy shows are highlights of the lounge.

We were disappointed that only 2 breakfasts were included in the "bed and breakfast" on-line special. We were a party of 3 and that detail was not in the on-line description. When I brought it to the manager's attention,he said there was nothing he could do and he couldn't add the info online. The pull out cot was very uncomfortable. There was a short area we felt uncomfortable walking through near a park although we never had any problems. The courtesy shuttle in the morning was an unexpected, wonderful surprise. "In the middle of Nowhere"
Maybe this is a business hotel, because I did not see one child there. We booked it based on the price. You get what you pay for. The worse part was it was in the middle of nothing but a bad area. Our stay was amazing. At check in--the front desk person heard my young daughter say she was excited to see the sights and without any prompting he then changed our room to the highest floor to give her the best view of the capital.Upon check out my daughter forgot her favorite stuffed animal in the room. First at check in there was only one person working so there was a line then they type ofroom we requested wasnt avalible but no biggie. "Great for price"
I stayed for three nights with two family members and was very pleased. It's not the greatest hotel we've ever stayed at, but for the price we paid it was fantastic! All of the staff (front desk, housekeeping, restaurant, gift shop, etc.) were great, very helpful and friendly. "Mid-level Classy"
This place is very nice but understaffed. There is one receptionist that has everything under control, the others a bit overwhelmed. I called the front desk for a can opener, and no one every got back to me. The rooms are very nice, clean and business orientated. I did like the look of the lobby, professional. The hotel amenities are minimal but good. […] Don't expect high quality but if your a prude you will be disappointed. The restaurant had the same buffet menu every night of my stay (2), not cool. The only other option, without transportation, is a McDonald's on the adjacent corner, cool if you eat McDonald's. i went to DC for the inauguration with my son. Capitol Skyline had the best rates for the area i wanted to be in. the room was great!! We had a view of the Washington memorial and the capitol building. my son slept with the curtains open lol there is a mc Donalds across the street and the restaurant inside the hotel was great for the price.only complaint […] is the location. "Capitol Skyline Stay"
I whisked my hubby away for a two day trip to our nations Capitol for his birthday. Since we wouldn't be spending any time acutally at the hotel other than showering and sleeping, I opted for a 3 star hotel as the hotels in DC are on the spendy side. The hotel was somewhat conveniently located (about a 6 city-block walk to the National Mall on the end […] by the Capitol Building). Our room was very clean but lacked the normal bathroom personals, which were listed as included in the description of the hotel on hotels.com. Largest complaint was noisy neighbors. Couldn't tell if they were above us, next to us or across the hall, but the walls were not thick enough to deaden the noise. It was a great stay at a good hotel. Checkin was very quick. Hotel room was clean. Parking garage was confusing and reminds you of a horror movie setting. The bathtub was a very slow drain the first two days - maintenance fixed it after we complained. FAMILIES BEWARE! "Close to Capitol, Close to lots of noise"
I'll be clear and to the point: the hotel is perfect, it's 2 subway stops away from the Capitol (subway station is a 5 minute walk) BUT it's near an emergency hub for police and fire/EMS cars. So you'll hear lots and lots of sirenes and all that stuff. The Hotel staff will give you a "quiet" room but it's impossible to not hear those cars racing past […] the hotel. So bring earplugs. Other than that it's a great hotel, clean and nice staff (helpful as well), not too expensive and if you can order via Hotels.com with the free parking offer it's perfect for people with cars, you can park your car in the underground parking garage and drive in and out 24/7. "Deceiving"
Not as close to dc (it outside the beltline so there is NO WAY they are 4 blocks from the Verizon Center in Chinatown) as they promote. A block away is a medic/fire truck/police car hub, so expect to be woken up at hours of the night. It's one thing to have an occasional siren in a city like DC, it is completely different when your hear 7-8 in one night. […] The hotel was older and newly redecorated and seemed nice. The down side to the older hotel was there was a severe lack of air conditioning. Wall units in the room did very little too cool us down in the summer. The shuttle is one-way, meaning they'll take you to the sites, but not back. If it it shows up at all, which it didn't for us. "Paid for a KING got a double bed 10 minutes later"
Front desk said Room 4-- was a Queen size bed and all they had but I measured it with tape measure and was 53 inches wide and all web sites show a double at 54 inches and queen at 60 inches. Left messages and called several times and could never talk to a manager. At breakfast we picked up some PLASTIC ORANGES but no real ones. Tea bags behind counter […] but attendant too busy to hand 3 feet. Only hot food was oatmeal and only fruit was apples and plastic fruit. PARKING is very expensive!!!
