We enjoyed our stay very much. The service was excellent, prompt, and thoughtful. They offer cab service in the lobby and there is a convenient Bike Share across the street that is inexpensive and a fun way to see the city. It was a nice walk to the National Mall but the city feels very safe. There are scores of restaurants and bars around the hotel. "Close enough to the Mall"
The room decor was as the web-site showed- updated, good condition.The physical condition of the room and bathroom showed aging. Several times there were water issues- one morning there was no water at all, there was trouble with hot water a couple of times. We think internet access included in fee is important, and something we look for. In town for a concert at The Hamilton. Washington Plaza was a good deal close to The Mall. Hotel was nice and we enjoyed our stay. Hotel was clean and well kept. Only issue we had was with the heat in our room. The outside temperature was close to 70F the day we arrived in late January. The hallway and our room were uncomfortably hot. Went for the weekend after v day and got upgraded to a suite for no extra charge and without having to ask, which was awesome. The bar downstairs was good and service was good as well. The only knock I have is the location to bars and night life. Excellent local getaway for my wife and I for Valentines Day away from the kids. The staff was very professional and courteous. The renovated room exceeded our expectation for the overnight deal we received. The view from our room overlooked Thomas Circle which was very romantic. I booked a king room and they gave me 2 double beds. After explaining this was wrong and I had confirmation they still declined to make it right. They told me no king beds were available and booking through hotels.com does not guarantee the room type. Sorry nothing that they could do. So I was not happy. Upon entering the room I was surprised to see how nice the room was, I had a room with a balcony and the view was wonderful. The restaurant breakfast buffet was worth it, the dinner food was a little pricey for what you got. It was close to everything and there were places to eat close to the hotel. The hotel was unexpectedly one of the highlights of our weekend. We arrived several hours early but they checked us in with absolutely no hassle. The staff was very friendly. "Great Location with a Resort Feel"
We had a great time and concluded from our weeklong trip that we couldn't have picked a better location. We were a few blocks from the Metro (easy and cheap subway travel), and close to many of the great neighborhood bars and restaurants. We are in the restaurant business, so it was great to be able to safely walk around the neighborhoods at all hours […] of the night. We felt safe at all times, and loved the unique urban neighborhoods. This hotel is also one of the few to have a great resort-like pool, with food and beverage service. They took great care of the chairs and the pool was very clean. The in-room refrigerator was a great bonus considering it was 100 degrees on our visit. "Good Hotel, Bad Staff"
The hotel environment is spectacular but the front desk staff was unprofessional & condenscending. On Sunday, we went for a stroll into town, when we came back our room keys were disabled; when we inquired as to why, the front desk personnel said it was because we had an outstanding room service bill. She went further to explain that people have skipped […] without settling the bill. What doesnt make sense is that our car was still in garage, so how would we have left without collecting our vehicle? The experience left us feeling marginalized and disrespected. None of the hotel managers felt the necessity to come and apologize after the incident which made the situation worse. Therefore, I would not recommend this hotel to any one.
