the hotel is beautiful, very nice room, great size, very modern, very comfy bed! perfect location to get everywhere and can walk to most attractions or metro is right there. tons of food and bars right there as well. We were in DC to see the cherry blossoms, have dinner with a friend and visit art museums. The hotel was a perfect place to stay. A block from the metro, well appointed, clean, comfortable bed. everything about the hotel was wonderful except for the bathroom situation. It seemed like the aesthetic concept overshadowed the functionality of the design. rather than a closed off bathroom, it was rather open: -only separated by frosted glass -full audio disclosure (a bit uncomfortable). Bathrooms should be fortresses of solitude rather than part […] of the living room. I also expected better quality soap/shampoo/lotion. The soap made my skin quite dry and the lotion smelled so awful that I had to re-shower to get the stench off--which did a terrific job of drying out my skin. This hotel is a bit overpriced, but a good deal if you can get a discounted rate, as we did. They updated it since we stayed years ago (as the Jurys) and the lobby is hip and well set up with convenient bellman for checking bags and informative/friendly staff. The lobby bar is loud with the noise spilling into the 2nd floor rooms, so we opted for a […] 4th floor room with no view, where we did not hear the bar noise, but instead had a really loud heater that would not turn off. Bath is miniscule (even for one), but has been updated with hip finishes and a nice heated slate floor. The "open" shower with only a small glass partition is a total failure in terms of functionality--no matter what you do with the spray the whole room (tiny as it is) gets wet with no floor drain to accommodate this inevitable overflow. I recently stayed at the Dupont Hotel for Labor Day weekend and I was extremely impressed--the hotel was super clean (no bedbugs--I checked online beforehand and when I got there!), staff was helpful and courteous, and rooms were impressive. The location cannot be beat!!! My only criticism was the shower/toilet problem that everyone is talking about […] in other reviews of the hotel. Prepare to get water all over the floor, no matter which way the shower head is angled. Also, the frosted glass separating the sink area from the toilet is not thick, so every, uh, noise, smell, movement, etc. is right there in your room. I wish there was more separating between the bathroom and the actual room (ya know, like a door!). Not much of a view from the second floor, but I was asked at check-in if I preferred a different floor. The valet parking was easy in, easy out with no damage to the car and attendants were professional and speedy. This place is usually very pricey, so it was nice to score an amazing deal!
