Mid-rises and mansions grace the leafy streets of Dupont Circle, where independent cafes and shops thrive. With a number of gay bars and businesses, this area is DC’s main gay neighborhood. Foreign flags fly high on Embassy Row, the stretch of Massachusetts Avenue from the Circle to the National Zoo and National Cathedral. At night, locals head north to Adams Morgan for drinks and live music.

Nice hotel close to lots of resturants and shoppingGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We lucked out finding this place after being COMPLETELY turned off by our original reservation at the Baron Hotel (AVOID, AVOID, AVOID). I have NOTHING bad to say about it aside from the fact that our room was a bit warm despite turning the air down to 65 degrees. We stayed in a Jr. suite which was SUPER CUTE. The staff was very nice! The location was […] AWESOME! I would definitely highly recommend! We booked through Hotels.com mobile and ended up saving a lot that way. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worked for us!"
It was a comfortable, gracious hotel which we liked. Much more personality in our rooms, then say the Holiday Inn or Hiltons near us. The breakfasts were extra, and worth it before a day of walking DC. The Dupont Circle metro line is a short walk down a hill from the hotel and an easy connect to the rest to the system. My only negative is that you pay […] extra for WIFI and then it did not work in our room (ugh). They graciously returned the charge, but what I really wanted was the WIFI connection. Apparently some rooms (old hotel) could not receive the signal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff were extremely courteous and helpful!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall very good. We had to change rooms after the first night as the first was room was in front with street noise. The room was too warm and required us to keep the windows open. The staff was very understanding and accommodating. The only issue that seems to be common that we found with both rooms was the temperature control in the rooms. The air […] conditioning didn't seem to be working or was not available, maybe seasonal? Otherwise a great location close to the Metro, and lots of great restaurants around Dupont Circle. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay right in DC"
The Churchill is in a great location. Close to the Metro and the neighborhood around the hotel has lots of shops and restaurants. I'd definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A pretty building and a great location but I expected nicer. The room to which I was originally assigned (which was supposed to be a nonsmoking room) looked nice but reeked of smoke and I asked for a different room. The new room was rundown(loose bathroom floor tiles, carpet that did not properly adhere to floor, etc.) and far from nice. Even the linen […] was a big downgrade. Also, this is not a very quiet place- housekeeping activities in the hallway and noises from other rooms and were quite noticeable. One bright spot is that the front desk staff were friendly and did their best. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Reasonable but nothing special"
Biggest drawback was lack of desk in room -- not convenient for business travelers. Also not enough outlets for travelers with gadgets. (Not an uncommon problem with older buildings, but easily addressed by putting a surge bar in each room.) Otherwise room was clean with plenty of storage space. Service in restaurant was mediocre but food was fine. […] Exercise room was nicely equipped with treadmills, weights and elliptical machines - very clean and well lit. Paying extra for WiFi annoys me; it should be standard in any large hotel these days. Good location. I would recommend for anyone looking for decent accommodation at a reasonable rate in a central location, but not if you are looking for a special experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Pretty good except the bathroom was not super clean (hear found on a towel) and pretty noisy people right next door past midnight. I had to call twice the front desk before they do anything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Pricey and overrated"
The in-suite refrigerator literally is empty. For the price, you would think they'd at least give you water! And the walls are paper thin. I could clearly hear the telephone conversations, TV and radio of the guest an adjacent room. You can even hear your neighbor sliding hangars in the closet! Had to sleep with ear plugs. Restaurant service is poor. […] The menu is limited, and the one time I attempted to eat there after 45 minutes I still had not received the "medium" hamburger I ordered! The metro is a hike from the hotel, but at least there are plenty of dining options along the way. The hotel is dead after 11pm, but the Hilton across the street is lively and you can get a meal. The hotel touts 24-hour room service, but all I could get a 1am was a ham sandwich. I will not return. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Charming boutique hotel with excellent service"
Lovely boutique hotel with a chic lounge/bar area with the feel of a European hotel. Service was friendly and requests met with alacrity. We stayed for the inauguration and experienced thoughtful little touches like a manager's reception each night and a hand-out with details on how to get to the swearing-in ceremony. Great location around the embassies […] with many nice restaurants nearby. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Second Inaugural"
Very nice overall. Towels could be bigger/better and Internet access should be free. It is in most every hotel I have stayed in. There was an issue with hair on tables that was not cleaned up from the last guest.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet and pleasant"
The hotel was nice and comfortable but a bit far from the sights. It was close to resturants and shopping that made up for it. staff at check in were not overly friendly but they did their job well so cannot fault them other than that. We had a pleasant stayGenuine Expedia guest review
"great stay, price and location"
From reading some of the other reviews I was a little skeptical, however, from the first minute we arrived I was pleasantly pleased. The staff and hotel appearance was great. The restaurant service and food was very good and reasonable prices. We were with two other couples and all three rooms were roomy and comfortable. I really enjoyed the proximity […] to Dupont Circle Metro station. We flew in from New Orleans to Reagan National and used the metro the entire stay, not once needing a car. There are also many restaurant options in the area if you don't want to eat at the same place day in and day out. If ever in the area again, I would definetly stay at Churchill. "No free Wifi"
Come on its 2013, having to pay for wifi stops this hotel from getting across the board 5s.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Walking distance to great bars and cafes and the metro, seems like a safe area, and large, very nice room and helpful staff. My only complaint was that the wifi was not only paid but paid per device, a policy that seems exceedingly stingy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good value, nice location, chemical smell"
Overall a good location and good value for money. For some reasons, the entrance hall has really a persistent chemical smell that I find really off-putting. I used the same hotel 4 months ago, and the same smell was there - I actually won't go back just for this reason (I can't understand why they do not do anything about it).Genuine Expedia guest review

"Historic hotel in heart of DC"
This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel and I'd stay there again and again. It's like stepping back in time without losing the modern conveniences. The staff was very helpful and they have even upgraded fitness room! I like the easy access to the metro and you can't beat the Dupont Circle location. "Stay in the Thanksgiving week"
Location is great, only about 5 to 8 minutes to Metro, a lot of restaurants around. The room is very clean, but a little bit small for a king size bed room with no chairs. Staff is friendly and helpful. The rate we got online is very reasonable. The bed is comfortable. Will definately go back if traveling to DC again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best deal in the area"
this was our third time at the Churchill and it fulfilled our expectations again. Helpful and knowledgeable staff, comfy and tasteful room with great new beds and valet parking marginally below the competition. "Nicely situated"
Hotel is well situated and well kept- our room was probably a little nosier than the rest as our door was directly in front of the elevator, so we heard everything going on from people entering/leaving that area, but the room was clean, well kept and maintained and hotel was just about 5-7 minute walk to the metro and in a nice area with many restaurants […] in the vicinity. I felt it was a great value for the price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Central"
The bedding was very comfortable. The fixtures and furnishings otherwise are a bit dated and the floors creaky, though the carpeting and decor were fine. The two elevators are a bit old and slow. The rooms are a bit small...a chair was placed in front of the bathroom door because there was no other place to put it. The location is central for access […] to Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan and Woodley. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Pretty little historic hotel, clean but small"
The Churchill is a nice historic hotel. Pluses: The room was very clean and the bed/bed linens were very nicely done. The bathroom was tiny but extremely clean! It was easy to walk to the Metro and there were some nice shops right in the neighborhood. Minuses: There seemed to be a problem with the reservation system when I was checking in and that […] caused confusion and a lot of delays. The staff didn't seem very focused on service but on their own issues with the system. Valet parking took an extremely long time to bring the car around and didn't seem too concerned about how long it was taking. The associate manager did acknowledge that they were having a problem and offered to comp the valet parking, which was a nice gesture, but didn't pan out exactly as planned. "It was Nice"
For the price, the Churchill was nice. We waited to make reservations as the price continued to drop weekly. But that's only because, obviously, they were not sold out. The hotel is older, but the room was nice. Not too much light as there was only one full window and one tiny transom window. The weather turned cold on Sunday and we discovered that […] the heat did not work. It was okay cause when we turned the AC off, it warmed up nicely. The staff is very nice and cordial and helpful. The location is just a few blocks from busy DuPont Circle with is loaded with fun stuff. I'd stay again if the price was right! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great weekend getaway."
Nicely appointed room, although not a lot of space to move around between the desk and the bed. Tiny bathroom - not quite enough counter space - but all of the amenities were there. Also, internal noise (from other guests) was minimal, because the walls are pretty thick. Convenient to Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan, and plenty of taxis for going anywhere […] farther away. Some traffic noise, but not too bad. The lounge/library was lovely. Can't report on the restaurant - we didn't try it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
