Located on Lafayette Square, The Hay Adams across from the White House is located in Washington, D.C. The hotel offers views of the White House, Lafayette Square and St. John's Church. The National Mall, Smithsonian Institution and Washington Monument are within five blocks. The Thomas Jefferson Memorial and Lincoln Memorial are 12 blocks away.

The lobby of The Hay Adams across from the White House features sparkling chandeliers, wood-paneled walls and carved plaster ceilings. Two dining options are available on site. The Lafayette Room serves contemporary American cuisine and offers Sunday brunch. The hotel's Off the Record Bar features a creative menu and wine selections. Red booths and walls decorated with caricatures of current political players add character. A 24-hour business center is located on site and includes complimentary use of the computer, fax and printer. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the hotel's public areas. A concierge is available to assist guests with tickets, sightseeing tours and dining reservations.

"The Good and the Not So Good"
The staff at the hotel were great! Very helpful, friendly, willing to serve and please. Our greatest disappointment was the placement of our room. It was off an alley that was very busy in the morning with truck noise, etc. There was also construction going on nearby all night long. We had even requested a room not facing the alley due to another review […] we had read about the noise level. The windows did not block out the noise. In fact, you could hear and feel air coming through them. Also, we wanted to got to The Top of the Hay for photos of the view that the website talks about, but was not allowed unless they we setting up for an event. The Hay-Adams Hotel is an outstanding hotel and the only place to stay if you are visiting Washington, D.C. and want a 5-star hotel. I had a formal dinner to go to on Saturday night, discovered that I needed some emergency tailoring on my gown and the concierge got a tailor to come to my room, pick up my dress, and had it ready for me 3 hours later! "Hay Adams is Everything and More!"
My family has stayed at the finest hotels and views (our thing) in the country for our annual vacations. I was worried the history and old style surroundings of Hay Adams would not excite my 14 & 16 year old daughters. However, even they recognized the once in a lifetime view of the White House outside your bedroom window at night, the (above) superior […] service from the doorman to the desk clerk, and the truly unique and yes, historic feeling you have when staying there. Walking in to Barbara Bush and the entire Secret Service when we arrived gave us an unexpected view as well LOL. Please note the view (at extra cost) of the White House, and getting to watch Secret Service on the roof and their activities, made the trip. Standard rooms have no view and would not have made the experience the same. I'm glad I spent the extra money and upgraded prior to arrival with the hotel - who were VERY accomodating in explaining my options and various prices. They treated us no differently the the Bush's. Go look at their web site. Everything they say is true. The service is excellent, with a staff that is professional and acts as if they care. Always professional, always on top of your every need. Rooms are wonderful, and made my kids say "OOOH!"
