When looking online in unfamiliar areas, we are always skeptical....we were so pleased to find this great, old school, classy hotel. Everything was grand, comfortable, spacious rooms. Very clean, no old smells, everyone so friendly, helpful and not stuffy. Great location to Metro, safe area, even at night.

The hotel is great in its facilities. The parking is valet only and costs an arm and a leg. Internet WiFi is on the high end. But if you have to ask about these things, you cannot afford this hotel. The architecture and the spaciousness is truly magnificent.

We bought, two double beds for two rooms. One with 3 people, and another with 4 people. All we got was 1 king and 1 queen. Why are we basically a bed less. The manager and the luggage mover is not the best quality. Not good Customer service quality

We were only there 2 nights, Friday and Saturday. The first night the water was shut off from 11:30p-4:30a due to unforeseen emergency repair. The hotel gave us a letter in the early afternoon, so we were able to plan ahead, and also some water (they only gave us 2 bottles of water so I had to ask for 2 more, umm hello McFly, there were 4 people in […] the room). But then the second night we went out for dinner around 8:15 and when we got back to the hotel around midnight we overheard a guest complaining about the water being shut off (SERIOUSLY?). I complained to the people at the front desk and told them they should have given us more warning so we could have planned ahead, but they could only say that it was an emergency, there was nothing they could do, blah blah blah, and they gave us a few small bottles of water (great, it’s still 85° out, can’t wait to use these to take a shower). For some reason there was a huge fancy wedding going on and the toilets worked on the Ground Level and we could use those toilets (because that makes sense, the water is shut off in the whole building but we could use those toilets). Maybe we should have felt better because when we got to our room there was another letter from the management explaining the water situation and two bottles of water (there were 4 of us, is it too much to ask for a bottle for each person). I had mixed feelings. The hotel is pretty. However, the first room we stayed in had a rather small 'queen' sized bed. We were later moved to a 'king' sized bed after being told the hotel was sold out. This room had an AC issue. The air handler leaked water non stop. We calle maintenance. This is not a hotel I would have chosen if I hadn't looked on Hotels.com - figured it was just too pricey. It is a beautiful hotel, very grand - "old world." The room wasn't too large, but more than adequate. The bathroom was very large with a huge tub/shower that was well lit. Only deficiency is the hotel needs an additional on-site eating and drinking place. I imagine this will be forthcoming as they replace the recently closed hotel corner bar. A lobby bar and dining room remain and the neighborhood is full of good eating/drinking places.

This hotel is at a very nice location, within a block distance from the Farragut North metro station. The restaurants right around the hotel are a bit pricy and stores close early in the evening, but there are lots of options within one or two blocks distance. There is also a CVS right on the corner where you can buy whatever. The hotel is grand and […] nicely decorated, but appliances are a bit old. We had an awesome bathroom in our room and a nice big flat panel HDTV with lots of channels. They brought us a mini fridge upon request because otherwise all they have is some weird minibar that charges you automatically when you remove items from it. The concierge was also helpful on more than one occasion for giving us maps, etc and letting us know about metro outages. My only complaint would be the noise from neighboring rooms and from the cleaning staff. The walls are quite thin. Overall we had a good time and enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel which comes at a bargain price! Read more

Lovely hotel, great location--but our room was tiny with a view of a brick wall. Staff was mostly nice and room was very clean. We enjoyed our Mayflower experience. Hotel staff very friendly. The front desk helped to send our fax since the business center was low on ink. The notary's seal broke so we had to go find one elsewhere. (Not their fault.) Disappointed that on morning two the cleaning service had not refilled our coffee supply. I need my morning fix! Hotel is very elegant, staff attentive and polite, concierge very helpful with sightseeing and restaurants. Very close to metro, many restaurant choices in the neighborhood. The rooms themselves are nice, although the carpeting is a little worn and the air conditioning grill was clogged with debris. Would stay again.

When we arrived, our room was very clean. However, after our initial arrival, the housekeeping staff never seemed to clean the room properly. When we would arrive […] back at the hotel after sightseeing, the beds were made, but the dirty glasses had not been removed, the carpets were obviously not swept, the sink was still dirty, and the towels were not completely replenished. We notified guest services, and were told the issue would be addressed, but the next day we had the same issue. Also, I requested a late check-out due to a flight delay - which was happily granted by the front desk - but I was then disturbed twice by hotel staff asking when I was going to leave the room. Usually, the hotel rooms in downtown are very small but the room that we got was a quite a good size - it was a room with 2 double beds, a desk, 2 leather seats, granite bath room. Excelent choice for location, walking distance to all sites or 1/2 block from the red line and Metro locations around the city.Old world architecture with a 5 star setting. The location of the Mayflower was very convenient. The metro train was one block away. Nice and quiet neighborhood. We (me and two younger daughters, 11 and 14) stayed for three nights. The bed was way too soft for me, and I woke up with a stiff neck. Other than that, all is great. Location cannot be beat.
