The hotel was ideally situated for sight-seeing. A few blocks from the capitol and Union Station, one block from the nearest metro stop. Beautiful quiet neighborhood, Capitol Hill Historic District. Hotel staff very friendly. Decor is nice, although the underlying structure of room was a bit dated (stucco walls, for example). I was attending hearing at Supreme Court so the location was perfect. The hotel is in the perfect location for using the metro and going to the Supreme Court or Capitol HIll. Rooms are comfortable and clean with kitchenettes. There are places to eat near by the metro makes getting to other sights simple and quick.

This hotel is staffed w/professional yet very friendly people. Everyone speaks when they see you & you are greeted warmly upon entrance. There's a beautiful fireplace in the main lobby & a cozy room adjacent for chit-chatting, coffee or reading. The rooms are always clean & fully stocked. Can you tell that I like this hotel ?!?!

Value for money. A very reasonable rate for what you get. Our room was in the main building. Clean room with lots of space (we had 1 queen bed). Bathroom was on the small side but the walk in closet next to it was huge. I would have preferred a bigger bathroom and no walk in closet. Complimentary breakfast was very much appreciated. The usual staples […] such as cereal, toast, hard boiled eggs, fruit, yoghurt. Breakfast is served in another building, just next door to the main one. Very convient location on Capital Hill (two blocks from capital). One block to Metro station. Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. Rooms reflect that the hotel used to be apartments. Daytime street paking is a serious problem, so one must use Hotel's valet parking service.

This is a great place to stay if you want walking proximity to the Capitol, Halls of Congress, the National Mall, Smithsonian etc. Breakfast is included and decent, not off the charts but decent. I booked the hotel (called Capitol Hill Suites) for my niece and me on Expedia, getting a low rate for one queen bed in a "junior suite" for the Thanksgiving holiday. Twice in the two weeks before we arrived, I called the hotel to see if they could arrange two beds for us - at no increase in the cost. Both times, I was told yes. When we arrived, the […] front desk clerk shook her head worriedly, letting me know that it should not have been promised me. I explained that we'd sleep better with two beds, but we'd be satisfied with one if she couldn't do it. Then, she did find us two! In fact, we were given a large suite with a kitchenette- full fridge, stove, microwave, and breakfast table at no extra charge! What a treat. The staff continued to be polite and accommodating the three days we spent in D.C. with one exception: I called the desk to let them know the bottom of the coffee maker needed cleaned, and something had been spilled in the microwave before we arrived and hadn't been cleaned. It never did get cleaned up. Also, the wall lamp by one bed was missing. The continental breakfast was very nice, though the room was quite crowded. I will go back to this hotel. Short, delightful walk to the Metro Station. We didn't get to the Eastern Market but will next time. Read more

I am a return visitor to the Capitol Hill Hotel (formerly Capitol Hill Suites), and I heartily recommend it. The location is superb, just steps away from the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court and the Capitol. Yet you feel part of a vibrant residential community, including the 2-block-long Pennsylvania Avenue restaurant-bar-and business district […] a block away. No gamut of chain hotels here. The CHH is unique in its neighborhood. Living in a suite for a week or a couple nights for me eases the stress of being away from home. Wifi is easy to access, reliable and free. CHH has microwaves, mini-refrigerators and coffee-makers in even the bargain junior suites. Breakfast is always free in one of the two hotel buildings, with Fox on the TV in one dining area, and CNN in the other. Duck digital TV partisan ship with the Washington Post that awaits your perusal. I found upkeep in fall 2012 a bit lacking. The cable connection for the TV had pulled loose in my room, leaving an ugly hole in the wall. Waves of plastic sheeting blocked off something (construction?) from the small elevator lobby on the main building's main floor. The retro modernist furniture in the small main lobby seems funky but discourages lingering. But seriously, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in D.C. Read more

Nice comfortable hotel located 2 blocks from U.S. Capital. Hotel has two builings and the one we stayed in appeared to have been recently converted from an apartment building. Thus it did not have a normal hotel lobby, but room had a kitchen and large closets.

Doesn't get any closer to the Hill. That being said, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy at night, so be advised. The hotel itself is nicely furnished, and in good condition. I am not sure how attentive the cleaning staff is (my fridge was not cleaned out from the previous room occupant, my trash was not taken away during my stay). Rooms are nicely sized […] but walls are thin so you may hear other guests from time to time. Staff I interacted with were friendly and competent. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Terrific location close to Metro Capitol South Station, but be advised you have to transfer trains from Union Station, so it will be a quicker walk. There is not as much "life" nearby as if you stay in Dupont Circle or the downtown areas; farther to go for restaurants, shopping, yoga or gyms, etc. I would stay here again. Read more

Valet parking is available at $32 per day, and there are no good parking garages nearby. There is a Metro station, but parking is limited (and I'm not sure you can park overnight), so I parked at Union Station.
