"dogs?!"
I knew when I made my reservation that The Liason allowed pet lovers to share their hotel, but I never imagined a scenario like we experienced! Two hyperactive, mid-sized dogs moved into the room adjacent to ours and CLEARLY did NOT like being left behind by their owners, each time exploding into a cacophony unlike anything I've heard outside of a kennel! […] I asked the front desk to address this with the owners and was told "Yes, they said the dogs wouldn't like being left alone"..what! the owners knowing left behind a couple of howling, whining, barking dogs at 9:00 pm?! The staff assured me we weren't the only ones complaining and that the owners were contacted and "would return at their earliest convenience". No one from the staff came to investigate. Finally after several calls we were provided a 'new' room. I did receive a call from the manager the next morning offering "to make it right" but I cannot envision such a scenario. Its not about money, or credits, or breakfast-coupons-after-the-fact. Even overlooking the obvious maintenance issues not mentioned here, I don't WANT to stay or eat at your hotel again until you can demonstrate a more proactive management team, actually involved in guaranteeing a quality stay for all patrons, empowering their staff to take immediate action whenever needed ESPECIALLY in a case such as this. "Great stay close to everything."
This hotel is right down from the Capital and the National Mall and Union Station. We were able to walk to just about every site in downtown DC. The hotel itself was great. Comfortable clean and quiet. The downstairs restaurant, while pricey, was excellant we had breakfast and a dinner there. A nice touch was the motion sensor light in the bathroom. "The hotel was disappointing for the amount they ch"
Hotel lobby was small, always crowded. Hotel lobby was dark, and could not accommodate the number of people wanting to use it. Not enough receptionist to check you in, long lines to check in. Concierge was nice, but not nearly as well informed as they needed to be. Internet cost was per device in the hotel room. Bottle of water was $6 in the hotel room. The hotel was recently remodeled and it was very nice. It was in walking distance to the Capitol and Union stattion that connected you with everything. After a couple days we were comfortable riding the bus which stop a few steps from the door of the hotel. "Brilliant location"
Really could not fault this hotel. Great location for National Mall and all Smithsonian Museums and also very close to Downtown. Superb rooftop pool which was required in the heatwave we had whilst in D.C. Super service and very nice quality food. hotel is within a couple blocks of the capitol and smithsonian. however those are the only plusses of this hotel. the air conditioning was poorly maintained and functioned poorly. there are no refrigerators in the rooms. there is no fan or functioning vent in the bathroom. the pillows smash down completely and become hard on the face and head over the […] course of the night. there are CONSPICUOUSLY no vending machines at all forcing you to have to eat down in the very expensive restaraunt down stairs. if you choose to eat in the hotel restaraunt during your stay bring a large food budget and be prepared for a very limited menu. there are also NO CONVENIENCES close by at all. there is ONE cafe across the street(the west wing cafe) which was very good, but mostly sandwiches. so you get tired of that quickly if your there for more than a couple of days. there is absolutely NOTHING close by. no restaraunts, no drug stores, no grocery stores, no shopping of any kind, nothing. all of this on top of the nightly prices i paid for a room makes this hotel EXCEPTIONALLY undesireable. Hotel was renovating several floors, but was doing so carefully and quietly. We stayed on the 10th floor in the newly renovated rooms. Hotel was very nice, well kept, quite comfortable. Only about 3 blocks walking distance from the Capital, and about 20 minutes or so (walking leisurely) to the Natural History and Air/Space museums. The valet parking […] is very expensive, but there a number of parking garages within several blocks for half or less the rate, especially on the weekends. As far as food goes - the on site restaraunt and bar caters to the upscale crowd. There is a nice deli across the street, a little less than typical DC pricing at about $6-8 per sandwich, does not include drink or chips. Walk down D or E street about 7-9 blocks, and you'll find about 20 different options for food, including a McDonalds/Burger King. Just avoid the McDonalds at the Air and Space museum, it's about double the typical pricing! From the moment we arrived, all the hotel staff we encountered were great. Doormen, front desk, room service, restaurant, bar and concierge, everyone is very helpful and friendly. The location is as good as it sounds, we walked everywhere and union station is right around the corner. We did not know until we arrived that there was construction going […] on, that was not a big deal. I do not know if our room was finished, under construction, or not yet begun: Carpets, beds and furniture were all in good condition and looked good. There was plastic over the smoke detector, the wallpaper in the bathroom was sagging and stapled on and work is needed around the window and tub. This hotel is a great place to stay, convenient location. Rooftop pool and bar is wonderful. The hotel has terrific service and has a very upbeat vibe.
