Lawmakers handle the nation’s business at the US Capitol, where Freedom peers across the land atop her perch on the rotunda. Many members of Congress live in the brick row houses near the Capitol complex. Across the street, the Supreme Court—the third branch of government—interprets the law. Cannot beat the location of this hotel. Staff were great, rooms were comfortable and overall a great choice. Not the fanciest place in the world but if you're planning to visit the National Mall sites on foot, this is the place to stay at.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Went for one night over the weekend. Close to the mall ie one block. Served its purpose.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for Smithsonian museums"
Stay was very pleasant. Only drawback, not a lot of restaurant choices in the neighborhood for dinner. First night was noisy because our room was located over the bar with music, which stopped a little after 9 PM. Restaurant in the hotel is excellent and service was excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not as quiet as expected"
The location is amazing, but the rest is just acceptable on a basic level.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointed ~ bring earplugs!!"
This hotel is close to great museums, but that's really the only positive. The only reason I did not rate this with all 1's is because everything we complained about they tried to make right by comping us something. When we arrived in the room, washclothes from the previous guests were still hanging in the shower. The handicapped bar in the shower was […] nearly falling off the wall. They paid for a night of parking due to that inconvenience. Then we ordered room service and they got the order wrong, which they did correct. Trains run right behind this hotel and there is a firestation some where close by. All night was trains and ambulances. Our room was directly over the cab stand, so when there wasn't a train going by or an ambulance, we got to listen to the cabbies talking loudly all night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Smoky Non Smoking Room, Loud at night"
The room smelled of smoke and it wasn't until I complained three times that they moved us to a different room (and I am not one to complain but my kids were affected by it). We bought tickets at a counter in the lobby for the trolley which were pricey. The person at the counter told us where to get the orange trolley and they run every half hour starting […] at 9:15 When we got there we found the road was closed due to a road race. We then walked to the next stop. After a little while I called the trolley company and they said that line wasn't running until noon that day...and with the price of these tickets you don't want to miss a minute of available time. We ended up walking back to the hotel and were able to change the tickets to the next day....but we lost about an hour and a half of the day which is a lot when you have young kids, walk a couple miles in the process and are trying to pack a decent amount into a 3 day visit. That night at 12:30am there were people yelling and screaming in the hallway. I called the front desk to see if they could come check it out and get the people in the hallway to quiet down. After about a half hour of loud noise I called again and about 10 minutes after that someone came up with security and had them quiet down. Not sure why it took 40 minutes though. unfortunately it was probably the worst hotel stay experience I've had. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Location, Helpful Staff"
We had a few hiccups. First of all, our room was not ready for a 3:00 check-in, which was very inconvenient, as we'd just made a 7-hour drive with three children and really just wanted to get settled in our room. Secondly, we paid extra for the two adult breakfasts every morning, and no one was able to explain to us how this worked until our third morning, […] after we'd paid full price for two mornings. All was resolved in the end, but it was all presented in a confusing way. The staff was helpful, but there was definitely a language barrier. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in the heart of DC"
We went to DC for a long weekend vaycay. I have stayed at this hotel before but that was at least 10 years ago. The room was great, beds very comfy and I particularly liked the "menu" choice of soft or firm pillows. Slept like a baby. Cleaning staff excellent, front desk excellent, breakfast phenomemenal buffet. Taxis, trains, buses at the door. Museums […] 1 block away. Can't beat this place for value. "Great Location/Mediocre Room..."
Visited D.C. for Spring Break family vacation. Hotel overall was what we expected. The room was a little cramped with 2 adults and 2 kids(ages 6 and 4), the beds were pretty basic(no pillow-top here) and the sheets were comfortable enough. There is a small refrigerator and a flat screen tv in the room. WiFi access was free and worked well. The optional […] breakfast buffet was decent and probably worth the extra charge. It was too cold to use the pool, so no thoughts on that. The location is great if you plan to spend a lot of time on the mall. It's about 2 blocks away from all of the free museums and 1 block from the Metro train. Overall, Room was "meh" but location to "touristy" sites gives the hotel extra points it would otherwise not deserve. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Holiday inn capitol"
Location was great for walking to some of the museums and the Capitol building. However, there was nowhere to go at night as there were no restaurants in the vicinity. We had to take metro to other areas of the city to find places to eat but it was conveniently located next door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location"
The hotel was great. It was clean and very close to the National Mall and DC Metro.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location - needs updating"
If you want a reasonably priced room near the Capitol, then this is it. The common areas are nice and clean although the hallway carpets are nasty. The room also needs attention. It's a mixed bag (nice countertops & shower but wallpaper was coming off the wall), (decent mattress, tv, etc... but carpet was dirty). Overall it was OK and what I would expect […] for that price in a great location. Sal's Diner (good food & inexpensive) and Starbuck's are a nice bonus. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Museums, but not restaurants"
Overall our stay was pleasant. There is a McDonalds and Quiznos just down the street, but this is not the area if you want to eat at nice restaurants. The hotel is however close to the metro (about 2 blocks away). The room was a little musky smelling and our view was of the rail road tracks. The noise wasn't that bad from it though and my 4 year old […] LOVED watching the train. I would stay closer to Georgetown or Foggy next time I visit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable stay and great location!"
This hotel is in a great location, very close to many of the museums. There is also a CVS just steps from the main entrance, and we were delightfully surprised to hear live music in the hotel bar.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, slightly below par hotel."
The location cannot be beat for a family vacation in DC. The Air and Space Museum and the Hirshhorn Museum are steps away. The option of the breakfast buffet is hugely convenient and while the buffet is not overflowing with fresh fruit or other healthy options, the eggs and pancakes will stick to your ribs while you traipse all over the mall. However, […] the hotel leaves a lot to be desired: 1) the minifridge seemed to be broken-- froze everything in it solid and made noise all night long, 2) the heat turned itself off before reaching the temp desired/set on the thermostat, 3) the ethernet didn't work and wifi was slower than dial up. When we asked for a fix, they offered to move us to the "railway side" of the hotel-not an attractive offer. So while this hotel has a lot going for it, it could use some upgrades. Front desk stays open until 2am Problem was that they could not find my hotels . "The best place to stay on family vacation"
The location is a 10 out of 10. Period. One block behind the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum, and two blocks from the Mall. The hotel is in great shape and the staff are super friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant one night and the meal was super - and kids eat free! "nice hotel. Great locacation"
This is a very comfortable hotel and, expecially because of the location, I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend. "Don't go over holiday weeks"
Front desk was understaffed, housekeeping told us they couldn't clean our room if it was after about noon, though front desk intervened for us. Restaurant closed at about 11 am, Starbuscks on the first floor didn't have any cash and would only take credit/debit cards. I think the major issue was the very low staffing overall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The location was perfect. Close to the museums, tour buses and tour trolley's. The staff is great. Helpful and friendly! The Hotel could use some updating but it's clean and comfortable. "Great location"
What a great location! Only 2 blocks from the metro and 2 blocks from the Air and Space museum. Rooms were clean but the shower was a little gross. We originally had 2 doubles but wanted to switch to a king. Front desk did it without any problems. A very good deal for the money. Not close to any restaurants except for the CVS and the Starbucks.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"hotel quality poor.... service staff is great"
the hotel was not great but the staff made up for it! However, if you are not okay with a pretty loud train coming in periodically throughout the night and especially in the 6:am hour.... you'd best find another spot. Even after they moved us to the other side, we still heard the train, but not as blarring! television in both rooms were not functioning […] properly, but that isnt such a big deal to us. Great location if you are going to visit the Smithsonian, but otherwise... skip this one. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The only thing that was a negative was that it's close to the train tracks. We were there from Saturday to Monday and the trains came through once or twice on Saturday night and several times on Monday morning (the first one was at about 6:30 am--not quite the time I wanted to wake up!) Maybe rooms on the side of the hotel that doesn't face the tracks […] are less noisy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to the Mall"
The staff was very friendly and accomodating and the rooms were very well kept and clean. The price I felt was very reasonable as we have payed more for motels in NYC that were not as nice. The maids were very helpful and kept the beds made and towels stocked. The hotel was very close to the mall and museums and to the Metro station which made it very […] easy to get around. We requested a room on the back side above the railroad tracks, which many have complained about. We found the noise to be very minimal and really enjoyed watching the trains go by. The beds were very comfortable and usually I don't sleep well in hotel beds but I had no problem sleeping here. The breakfast in the morning was very reasonable and it was a great way to start our day. We will definately stay here again when in Washington and I would recommend it to others. Great location, decent rooms, mini fridge, microwave for $10/day, free internet, $35/day for parking, breakfast buffet OK ($15/adult, $4/kids, coffee and juice included) some rail track noise if the room faces the tracks(although the kids loved to see the trains pass).Starbucks, CVS, Quiznos and McD, all downstairs.Overall recommended. You can't beat this hotel for being close to the Mall and museums--everything is in walking distance. The parking is included in the cost of the room, which is nice.
