Hains Point, two miles from the Marriott, has an 18-hole course perched on the banks of the Potomac River. Rock Creek Park, 6 miles from the hotel, is a 1,800-acre oasis with hiking and biking trails, a nature center/planetarium, and remnants of Civil War forts. Trail rides are available through the Rock Creek Park Horse Center. The park has 15 soft-surface and 10 hard-surface tennis courts; reservations are generally required.

It was a good value with quick access to the Metro, and a Starbucks and restaurant available inside the hotel. There was shopping and other restaurants nearby as well. The room was very spacious -- much larger than a similarly priced room at the Hilton, where I stayed recently. I was pleased with my stay except for the costly internet connection charge. It could have been much less. Good selection of movies on demand at a charge.
