We got this hotel for SXSW about a month before, after all the downtown hotels were long sold out. The location is about 30 minutes from Austin, which worked out well since the price was super affordable. When we pulled up and saw the exterior we were a little worried, since we've stayed in similar looking hotels with extremely bad rooms. However, the […] room we stayed in was actually non-smoking and it looks like they do a good job of keeping the non-smoking rooms non-smoking. The room was extremely clean, great smell, and equivalent of what you would find in $150/night rooms in a Hilton or Marriott. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I had to ship 3 huge packages before our stay and everything was kept safe for us before we arrived. I would say that the overall rating is a 4.5 considering our experience, and how much we spent on the hotel considering its a nutty weekend in Austin. We would stay there again next year. As others have indicated, This hotel is perfectly adequate for the average man to spend a night in. It was reasonably clean, and everything worked. It is located conveniently to the city square and Southwestern University. Still, it is an old hotel that has not been updated, so if you demand the best, go pay twice as much somewhere else. This location was the cheapest location near my brother's wedding and I had low expectations. I was really surprised by the hotel and the rooms themselves. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They placed all of our rooms right next to each other and the rooms were huge with high ceilings. There was something very dreary about this Inn. Depressing. Some people had been there 3 weeks and I felt like they were on the verge of being homeless. Even the rooms were dark. The room wasn't that bad, but lots of transient workers are in and out all hours and very noisy. I stayed 4 days and my room wasn’t cleaned one time while I was there. On my last day I was to check out by 11AM. I had a meeting in the morning and returned at 10AM to rest and use the restroom facilities before I got on the road. I hadn't checked out yet, […] but the cleaning ladies were in the room preparing it for the next guest. When I told them I hadn’t checked out yet and needed the room, they kept cleaning and didn’t leave. I then heard them making rude comments about my underwear that I had still in the room. I told the owner/manager at the front desk and he apologized but refused to do anything about it. I then told him I was going to let people know how they treated me, and he said OK, like he didn't care. The continental breakfast is frosted flakes and a granola bar and a banana. In response to your complaints:- 1) “Workers in & out @ all hours & were noisy” If you had brought this to our attention,of the Front Desk clerk at the time this occurred. Then we would have taken immediate action & offered to move you to a quieter room or would have called the guests that were disturbing you. 2”Room wasn't cleaned once” Our House maid service records indicate that your room had the “Do not Disturb” sign hanging on your door. We always respect our guest wishes/requests at all times. 3)On your scheduled check-out day @ 10:00am/ck-out time is 11:00 am. The house service maid noticed your room door left open,& no-one was in the room and no personnel belonging.It is common for our guests to ck-out this way without notifying the front desk clerk. Husband stayed in the motel all week I came and stayed with him for one night the front desk was very helpful and nice the maids were always cleaning, and very nice nobody had a mad face. The lobby smelled like stale cigarette smoke, The green room was pretty, Had to request a microwave/refrigerator, but it was quickly supplied. On the floor by the door, so the door of the fridge dragged on the carpet. Odd. The coffee pot was next to the TV but there was no outlet there. Odd. The bed is against the accent wall, but the TV is on the side […] wall. Awkward. The crack in the toilet seat pinched my leg each time I used it. I forgot my house shoes and my feet looked like I had walked in muddy water b/c the carpet was so DIRTY. I had to wash them in the tub then walk on towels all the way to the bed. Love the town! The room was clean and comfortable. The lady that checked us in was great. She was friendly and helpful. We had a small continental breakfast even though the notes said no breakfast.
