"Unfriendly Staff"
Front desk staff were more concerned of the video game on their laptop than the guest checking-in. The staff was in no way in a rush to assist and when he assisted, treated us more of a nuisance than a paying guest! "Quiet Down"
My only complaint is that the room I had was above the management office and I could hear the male voices early in the morning that awaken me. "Check your linens..."
The hotel looked ok when we first drove in, nothing special, just average looking. The guy checking us in was ok, if somewhat detached. Our room was upstairs above the office, in an enclosed area between three other rooms. Ours was the only non-smoking room in that area, so needless to say, going up the stairs there was a strong odor of cigarrette smoke […] and the room smelled of stale cigarrette smoke. I went into the restroom and noticed that there was a used wash rag by the sink with a used bar of hotel soap stuck to it. My girlfriend was already unhappy with the room as soon as we got there, so I didnt mention my discovery to her. I just threw it in the trash. We left to attend a function and when we came back, the TV was on. I called the front desk and he tried to assure me that it was the timer/alarm on the TV that was probably set by a previous guest and that it happens all the time. OKAY... Well, the room was paid for so we might as well turn in for the night, I figured. I pulled back the comforter and I see a yellowish stain on my pillowcase and a small brown object (like dried food maybe) on my girlfriend's pillowcase and on the sheet under her pillow. I called the front desk again to inform him of the situation and asked if housekeeping could bring up new sheets and new pillowcases. He said that there was no housekeeping on duty at that hour but that he could bring us new sheets. I asked him if he would put them on the bed. He said, "No. That's not my job." He offered a refund if if we werent happy with that, but it was late and we were tired, so we just accepted the sheets and pillowcases that were brought up to the room and put them on the bed ourselves. We were awakened much too early by the loud sounds of construction across the street from the hotel. I realize that this is not the fault of the hotel, but it just added to our overall poor experience there. Needless to say, I have crossed this hotel off my list of future stays.
