The Island Hotel Newport Beach offers tropical ambience amid the Orange County Beach area in Newport Beach, Calif. The property is one block from Fashion Island, which features Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus and more than 200 shops and eateries. The Newport Beach Pier is within five miles.
Hotel Features.
Palm Terrace Restaurant with garden views and outdoor space, serves seasonal contemporary American cuisine, full breakfast (surcharge), lunch and dinner. Palm Terrace Lounge presents an array of light and healthy fare. 25,000 square feet of meeting space, technology support staff, business services and a business center are provided, as is wired and wireless Internet access (surcharge). Pampering services available at The Spa at Island Hotel include the Island Volcanic Detoxifying Therapy and the Pearl Powder Facial, which features authentic crushed pearls. After a treatment in one of the 9 special rooms available, relaxation rooms provide complimentary water and fruit. A fitness room surrounded by windows offers cardiovascular and weight training equipment, with personal trainers available. Complimentary coffee and newspapers are available in the lobby. An outdoor pool boasts a poolside bar and a whirlpool. Tropical landscaping shades the walkway to the pool, and shaded benches provide seating along the path. Additionally, there is an overnight shoe shine service available to guests, luggage storage, safety deposit box at the front desk and, on request and advanced notice, a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge.
Guestrooms.
The 295 guestrooms and suites contain wooden furnishings, original artwork and décor in muted island hues of khaki, white and sage green. Balconies or furnished patios feature views of the beach or of Fashion Island. Bedding includes Egyptian-cotton linens and down comforters and pillows. Marble bathrooms boast terry-cloth bathrobes, minibars, designer toiletries and lighted makeup mirrors. Each room includes CD and DVD players, and wired and wireless Internet access (surcharge). Pets are permitted for a fee.

The Island Hotel has an outdoor pool and spa tub. The complimentary fitness center is located adjacent to the pool and is equipped with treadmills, elliptical trainers, cycles, recumbent cycles, stair machines, weight equipment and machines, stretching devices, and exercise balls. Personal trainers are available by appointment.
A number of water sports and harbor cruises (surcharges) are available at Newport Harbor, seven miles away, and several golf courses are within five miles of the hotel. Bicycle and Rollerblade rentals are available on the peninsula near Balboa Pier. Tide pools and beaches are within five miles.

This hotel is geared more towards the business traveler. It is clean and the staff are friendly but there is nothing exceptional about it. The decor and rooms were a little dated. The bed was comfortable and the linens were nice. Our room faced the pool and when the wind blew the windows whistled. It was not a real windy day but some people may find […] it annoying. We talked to a couple of people that ate at the hotel and they both had positive things to say. The biggest disappointment was the mandatory valet parking at $32.00 a night. I stayed here just for a getaway. The concierge and staff were more than amazing. I probably called the front desk 5 times in 24 hrs (yeah... i don't mean to be that type of customer) and every time they were more than happy to assist me with questions or bring any additional items I needed. "Honeymoon Getaway"
We thought the hotel was very nice! It was in a convenient location; close enough to get anywhere quickly, but not so close that traffic or noise was a problem. One night stay. Found fake eyelashes in what was supposed to be a fresh clean towel in the morning. Disgusting! Clearly, they had not replaced any towels in the room that looked unused. This is a beautiful comfortable hotel. My only issue was with check in and valet. When we arrived we were treated very warmly and saw friendly helpful people. As we walked in to the front desk there was a line of 2 people in front of us with only one employee behind the counter. Only complaint is that when we called we were told the hotel was within walking distance to the beach, which is definitely not true. "The Island Hotel - Best hotel ever."
I would absolutely recommend a stay at this hotel, and my husband and I will likely stay again in the future. We stayed here for our wedding night, and couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience. Upon our check-in (with my husband in his tux and me in my wedding dress), the manager gave us an upgrade to a corner suite. It was literally the nicest […] hotel room I've ever seen or stayed in - floor to ceiling windows, ocean view, shower and soaker tub, 2 balconies. While we won't expect THAT upgrade again, the front desk clerks were so kind and gracious, and the upgrade was incredibly generous. The service at the hotel was phenomenal and the breakfast was delicious. (Try the banana french toast and the sausage links!) The room was very clean and incredibly quiet, and we enjoyed waking up to the ocean view. Also, the proximity to Fashion Island is very convenient for a day of shopping, if that's what you like. Although the required (expensive) valet parking can be frustrating, you can call down to them before you leave your room to inform them you'll be down shortly, and they'll have your car ready when you get downstairs, which makes up for the inconvenience.
