Fairmont Newport Beach

Great hotel. My girlfriend and I were at the beach for the day and decided at 8pm to stay the night. I got the reservation on Hotels.com and was there 30 minutes later and checked in a few minutes. The room was on the top floor (10) and was great. There were only two things. There was a small black widow type spider on the ceiling at night killed it […] no problem. Then in the morning after we were up my girlfriend gave out a small scream and there was a larger spider walking across the bed the sheets were down and was like ughh. Other than that the place is awesome and just bad luck with the spiders. The bed is about the most comfortable king (huge king) I have slept on in a hotel. Excellent place and price. Highly recommend the place anytime. Rates usually on the low side for Hotels.com for that level of a hotel. Read more

My recent stay at the Fairmont was very wonderful and relaxing. The staff were very kind and friendly and very helpful. The Spa was relaxing and a welcome relief for a busy person. The grounds are impeccable the neighborhood was calm. The bed was so comfortable and it just made for a very relaxing time. The hotel was easy enough to find. The only drawback was the parking is valet only. we paid an extra $14.00 to park our car for the night. We are from the area, so I was familiar with restaurants, attractions, etc. The room was very clean and roomy. The pool area is very nice and poolside seating is plentiful. All in all we had a great stay.

I enjoyed my stay at The Fairmont. My wife and I were looking for a place to stay in Newport for one night and it was great! The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. The bathroom was good, but not great. It had a typical bathtub/shower combo. It met all of our expectations though. The service was great too!

We were looking for an economical place to stay so that we could enjoy ourselves more. I found the value of the hotel to be amazing. The valet service was fast and curteous since you have to use them everytime to park. We used the pool deck , it had a nice atmosphere and was comfortable. This hotel is a sleeper. Maybe it was because of our stay was on a weekend at a facility gear for weekday business, but it was great. The room was nice nothing fancy but spacous and very comfortable. If I didn't read other people's reviews, I would be unhappy paying $27 per day for the parking(no choice but valet ) but I was ready for it so it didn't upset me, besides that the beds and pillows were so comfortable especially the pillows, I could never use hotel pillows usually because they are too high but thier pillows were very soft and I had no […] problem. Also I read the reviews that the airconditioning always makes noises by turning on and off automatically so before we went to bed we opened the window and turned the airconditioning off so it was quiet all night. Also I read that lower floors might smell cigarete smell from downstairs so I requested higher floor(8th) they gave me no problem doing that. And I signed up for some hotel club memership at the check out so they waived my wireless internet fee instead of paying $13.99 per day. All the reviews helped me in advance, so we could avoid all the troubles ahead of time. After all we had a wonderful time! We would stay there again. Read more

The room was great but the door to the bathroom had several large gouges that could've easily been patched and painted if they were on top of their game. This did not affect the overall quality of the room which was excellent. When we tried to check out the sole agent at the desk was in a discussion with a guest that lasted a full ten minutes while […] we were standing there and she seemed oblivious to us. Had to ask 2x for another person to come to the desk and check us out. This shows lack of training of the people at reception and have not experienced this elsewhere. Fairmont has a very friendly staff I highly recommend. The regular rooms are awesome. The only complaint is that the jacuzzi closes at 11pm was kind of upset that we had to leave.

When we checked in, I remembered I was a member of their frequent stay program that offered upgraded rooms. The guy at check-in offered us an upgraded room for our one night stay. The room was warm, so we turned on the air and went down to the lobby for dinner. When we returned to the room, it was still warm when we went to sleep. In the middle of the […] night the unit started pumping out hot air so we couldn't sleep. I went down to the front desk and they moved us to a room that was 3 doors down - with a working air conditioning unit. The guy at the front desk mentioned that our original room was one that hadn't been upgrade. So...why did the guy at check-in upgrade us to a room that hadn't been upgraded? The following morning - our children showed up ready to swim in the pool. The pool and jacuzzi was closed for maintenance. Closed on a holiday weekend? Poor planning. The room was great! Comfortable, clean, and the bathroom was fairly large. My only suggestion to others is to keep and eye on the valet. I ended up not tipping them because the driver drove my car way to fast in the tight road. My car is a compact, there was no reason I should have heard my engine roar from where I was standing. This was our 2nd stay at the Fairmont and I have to say I was disappointed. I must say that the staff is very friendly and one of the valet's even remembered us from a year ago. Here are my 3 main issues: 1. We ordered room service one evening because it was late and there are few restaurants in the immediate area. The food was subpar and the bill was […] over $70 for a quesadilla, burger (without a burger patty) and a salad. We quickly learned not to order in again. 2. There's only valet parking and it's nearly $30 per night. We were in and out all day so once you add tipping the valets each time it was well over $45. 3. Beautiful hotel that is definitely geared more for business travellers, but don't let that stop you if you plan on staying there for fun.
