I must say that we were very impressed with the whole layout of Kingsmill Resort. It is gorgeous! I wish we had a room with a view of the water, instead of the tennis court! Our room wasn't ready when we tried checking in at 4:30pm and they graciously applied a credit to our account, which will be used for the Easter Brunch reservations we had made. […] The brunch was very nice and we had a table with a panoramic view of the grounds and river, which despite the pouring rain, was lovely. I do wish we had been offered a mimosa or a bloody mary with our brunch. I thought the room was very nice, not as fabulous as I expected it to be however. I thought the sofa/living room furniture to be a bit dated and drab and not very comfortable. Our daughter slept on the sleeper sofa and I didn't think it was comfortable at all. The thing that really annoyed me however was no soundproofing whatsoever! I thought there was a herd of elephants above us, jumping on and off the bed. The next morning, I could hear our next door neighbor complaining about the lack of hot water; it was as if I was in the same room. This was probably the most disappointing aspect of our stay. We went to a fabulous French restaurant nearby which I highly recommend: Le Yaca, it is just across the street from Kingsmill. I doubt we will return, simply because of the noise level, but the resort itself sure was beautiful! Read more

The resort was nice enough. However, for the price charged, I was not thrilled to discover there is a controlled thermostat in the room. I was also expecting more of a "hotel" (i.e., conference/banquet rooms on one floor with rooms on upper floors). The rooms are different blocks of "apartments" away from the main building. We made our reservation for my sister and I to enjoy a Mom's weekend away and it was fabulous. We went to the near-by outlet stores and then crashed at the resort with a cold beer from room service. Then we enjoyed a soak in the hot tub at the fitness center and then a wonderful dinner at the Marina. The grounds and main buildings are beautiful. Our bathroom could have been cleaner. There were dirt smears on the baseboards and a corner of the shower curtain had mildew on it. We booked a 3 day stay for Thanksgiving. When the reservations were made, the menus were not finalized for Thanksgiving dinner. When I checked back to make dinner reservations […] there were none available. I think that the hotel should have emailed those who had made early reservations for the holiday to alert us that dinner reservations were now available. The check-in process was odd. I waited in line for 10 minutes while the couple in front of me was being checked in. When I arrived at the desk I was given my keys, a map of the grounds, and told to "have a nice stay"; not even half of the information that was given to the party in front of me. I wonder what the difference was that merited a complete explanation and orientation for them, and the brush off for me. The pool facilities were not available one evening due to "maintenance needs" and that was disappointing to us. Room service was good, as was the food in the Regatta. The Mill has excellent coffee and pastries if you do not want a full breakfast in the dining room. Overall we had a nice stay. Read more

Second time to Kingsmill and had a great time. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with 4 people and a baby. The perfect amount of room although the bathroom was a little tight. Bed extremely comfortable, pullout couch so-so. Kingsmill was preparing for the LPGA tournament but luckily we got 2 rounds of golf in on the courses not involved (Planatation and […] Woods), also tried the spa and it was great, although my masseuse talked way too much. I love that everything on the grounds is kid friendly. The new pool opened while we were there and looked nice - nothing ever felt very crowded which was fine with me. Went to all the restaurants except James River, and most of our meals were fantastic. There is also a great restaurant just outside the resort called Maurizios which we like to stop at. Howard, the hotel Restaurant Manager, was super friendly and seemed to be everywhere we went - what a great guy! We will definitely be back next fall. Read more

The hotel is very nice and very close to all the attractions. The resort is a little spread out so if you do not stay in a building near the James River you will find the walk to the pool, restaurants and the Marina very long (you may even want to drive.) But it was fine...still a nice place to stay. On another note though if you want to book any spa […] treatments I highly recommend you go to the spa directly to book it. I booked a spa treatment through the concierge and they messed up the reservation. They booked it on the day we were leaving not the day I asked. The best shower water pressure I have ever had! Seriously! You will love the shower! The room was excellent except for all of the spiders! But I guess since it is in the woods than that is something you have to deal with. My wife and I were really impressed with the onsite restaurants, pools, spa, etc. Dinner at Eagles was delicious, the staff very helpful and inviting. The lawn and grounds were very well kept and the whole place was polished. Courtesy shuttle to Busch Gardens and Williamsburg was very convenient with a good pickup schedule and very nice drivers. In […] comparison our room was more like a noisy yet well furnished apartment. The room we stayed in had a co-joining door in which we could hear the neighbors conversations, doors slamming etc. The room above us had a squeaky floor and we heard every footstep made by them as well, plus their extra curricular activities. Additionally, the air conditioner fan sounded like a jet engine when turned on, requiring an adjustment in TV volume just to overcome the noise, but way too loud when the AC was not running. Our first morning we woke at 7:00 am to the sound of someone banging their luggage down the wooden stairs just outside our door. Overall, I really liked the feel of the resort and what they had to offer, but my wife and I are on the fence about staying there again due to the thin walls and noisy conditions of the room. This resort is perfect for active families. Also the accommodations were high quality and comfortable. The only downsides were the insects in the room since they can fly in especially at night. Also, hot breakfast ceases at 11 a.m. on the property Mon-Sat.

I love, love, love, Kingsmill. Tennis pro went out of her way to book as much tennis for me as I wanted on very short notice. Extremely nice members and top notch service everywhere. So many other activities to partake in as well. My only complaint is thin walls in condos as we could here other people. Wont stop me from coming back though!!!!

The grounds were beautifully tended, providing pleasing scenery when travelling to and from the resort facilities and the room. The major commplaints that we had were the food: Regatta's- extremely greasy pizza. Eagles (the high-end? steakhouse) - the meat had a glaze with a very burnt-tasting crunchiness, as if the grill had not been scraped all night […] long, and the cinder-crunchy flavor permeated everything on the plate. Inedible. Room Service breakfast- the scrambled eggs contained some sort of filler; I've used a dash of olive oil + milk to make very fluffy eggs...but these had something beyond that, with the texture of baby powder, alum, or cream of tartar. Also inedible. I would stay there again, but I would definitely drive off site for every meal. It's inexcusable to have food that bad at above average pricing. Could use a little more sound proofing between adjoining doors as well. Read more

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. We had a bit of a problem with a "sticking" door, but overall we really had a great time. The shuttle to Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens is a strong plus. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families as there is alot to do.

Kingsmill is close to Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown, the resort faciliates are well maintained (they have a nice size indoor poor and gym), the room is spacious and clean (the bathroom is very spacious!) and hotel staff are friendly. We ate at the Edge (restaurant within the resort) - the food was very good there but a bit pricey. Only complain […] (similar to other reviews) is that the hotel walls are very thin - my early-riser neighbors woke me up most mornings. Given what we paid for the room it is good bang for the buck! Very nice resort. We have stayed on 3 other occasions. The condo style rooms are comfortable and clean. Recommend staying on the top floors since the rooms and condo are not very well insulated for noise. We've stayed on the lower level and you can clearly hear people walking and it quite noticeable when there are little ones running around. The amenities […] are nice and the indoor pool is great for the kids but not for adults looking for a relaxing dip in the pool. The restaurants that are available are not the best and is probably the biggest weakness of the resort. One restaurant is expensive and the casual dining option is weak on service and quality of the food. The wait staff just doesn't seem to care much about providing quality service and the food options seem limited and just is below average. This hotel is next to the amusement park and close to other attractions. The best thing for us was the large suite with plenty of room for the family to hang out and play board games in the evenings. The kids really enjoyed the indoor pool with a large hot tub. The staff was nice and we will return!

Kingsmill Resort is a beautiful place to vacation. Our one room villa was awesome. We have to go back to enjoy ALL of the amenities. We were a little dissatisfied with the food...crab dip was watery, pizza a little tasteless, and menus were limited. But overall it was a delightful experience and we shall return!

None of restaurants were regularly open and the best place they had for tropical feel was only open one night during our stay. They have a wonderful set up just not many choices.
