"Nice hotel, housekeeping forgot us."
The overall hotel stay was very nice. My husband and I, alumni of ISU, came with some friends for a football game. We were relatively close to the campus and field, which was nice. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms were nice as well. The only downside is that somehow in our 2-night stay we never had housekeeping come and take out the trash, […] make-up the beds, change towels, etc. Kind of expected and kind of disappointing for a hotel that was nice otherwise. "A nice place for the weekend"
The staff was very freeindly at checking and anytime was passed through the lobby. Quiet location, away from traffic and noise and easy access to interstate. Small but very workable workout room, could use a large fan for air circulation. Inexpensive breakfast but healthy. I was disappointed they only left 2 shower towels after cleaning room when there was clearly 3 they picked up and i registered my room for 2 adults and a child. After housekeeping was in our room i found the coffee pouch in the middle of the floor thanks for cleansing the coffee pot and leaving more coffee but i not impressed when i found the used one […] on the floor. We were in town for soccer tournament and after being out side in the heat all day went to check in to our room and had to wait 40 min and that was us even coming to check in after 3 which is check in Time i understand things run late but i would hope knowing what the event was why all these people were in town and the heat our children were in it would have been nice to get to our room. Mattress was a little too hard for me, but everything else was great. We got back from our event late Sunday morning and the staff were cleaning up the breakfast buffet- the coffee was all gone. Hotel was really noisy with kids above us that we could hear jumping for hours followed by young teenage girls that were in the hallways yelling until all hours of the night. "It is almost like staying in a super luxury hotel."
I asked for a handicapped room and did not have one when I arrived, but they changed it and got me one, with little quibbling, and they were very kind about it. When I got to the room, there were no hand towels or any of the shampoo and soap that is usually in rooms. I know it should have been there, as there was a little rack for it. I went downstairs […] to the desk and told them about it and was given shampoo and whatever else I needed with no problem, and a very heartfelt apology. It is a gorgeous hotel, and when you have problems walking, the beds they have there, that can be adjusted to be harder or softer are a dream come true. This is by far the best hotel I have stayed in at Ames, and since I have a child at Iowa State, I have stayed in a LOT of hotels there. I will never stay in another hotel but this one. The four was only because the stuff was missing, and I have a feeling it was just an oversight. They were more then kind about getting new stuff to me, and I HIGHLY recommend this hotel. While room was clean the A/C was extremely noisy, no bathroom fan and temperature control was difficult, if not impossible. The mattresses were lumpy and soft.
