"little trouble checking in"

"Avoid Room 108"
This a standard Hilton Garden and meets the level of quality that you would expect at any of them. However, specifically avoid rooms around 107-110 as they are directly across from the ice machine and fitness/pool area, which means higher traffic, kids and the ice machine dumping ice. "Nice hotel, housekeeping forgot us."
The overall hotel stay was very nice. My husband and I, alumni of ISU, came with some friends for a football game. We were relatively close to the campus and field, which was nice. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms were nice as well. The only downside is that somehow in our 2-night stay we never had housekeeping come and take out the trash, […] make-up the beds, change towels, etc. Kind of expected and kind of disappointing for a hotel that was nice otherwise. "Good for business travelers"
The location of the hotel is good and it's probably the newest hotel in the area. The staff was very friendly. They have a nice little restaurant and bar on the first floor. I had breakfast there one morning and it was good. The rooms are very spacious and they provide two TV's (one in the bedroom and one in the living room. There were some cleanliness […] issues. The pillows on the sofa were dirty, some of the towels had stains, the caulking around the tub wasn't very clean, etc. Also, the bed is like a rock - very uncomfortable. "A nice place for the weekend"
The staff was very freeindly at checking and anytime was passed through the lobby. Even offered cookies and bottled water.The hotel is on the west end of Ames where there isn't a lot going on, but it is just off the highway and still close to campus. The hotel was pretty nice but when we got to our room there was left over food from the last guests in our fridge. I think the cost was way too much considering our room wasn't clean and it doesn't come with breakfast. We paid for the breakfast and there wasn't hardly anything out. "An okay stay... I'll give it another chance"
Hotel was really noisy with kids above us that we could hear jumping for hours followed by young teenage girls that were in the hallways yelling until all hours of the night. The hotel management can't really control this, but ti proved that the doors were not well sealed to hallway noises and the floors reminded me of a Super 8. "Comfortable and clean"
I stayed four nights, and the room and beds were comfortable and clean. Internet access was appreciated. I only had two minor annoyances - on the first night I noticed the shower drain wasn't draining very quickly, so I mentioned it to the front desk and they assured me they would have maintenance look at it. It never got looked at. The second thing […] is I had the "Do not disturb" sign on the door one morning so I could sleep in a little, but I left the room before noon and removed the sign then. Hotel is very nice overall and fairly new. Only problem we had was that the bathrooms had a bad, mildew smell when we arrived. The highway is under going a renovation starting at 6 a.m. It was quite noisy to wake up to. Overall this is a very nice place to stay for the money, and the staff is extremely pleasant. "Convenience"
For the most part this hotel was accomodating for our trip. We were going to a tournament at the Ames Ice Arena. This hotel was a perfect location for that. The only problem that I had was with the temperature of the room. Either the heater was blowing hot air and the room was roasting or if you turned the heat down a degree then it started blowing […] super cold air and you'd be freezing in a matter of minutes. Ended up shutting the thing off and only turning the heat on for a few minutes at a time. One of the elevators was broken for a short time. "Great beds and close to campus expensive breakfast"
The hotel was very comfortable especially with the temporpedic beds. It was minutes from Iowa State and most of Ames. The only negative was that they made you pay $11 for breakfast if you wanted anything hot.
