"clean and affordable"
This is the second year in a row we have stayed here. The staff is friendly the rooms are clean the pool is small but well kept and the breakfast is actually decent. Its nothing fancy but is very affordable for what you get. We will deffenetly be back again next year.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This was a great stay. Compared to surrounding hotels and motels, this had the best reviews in its rate class so I gave it a try. I was not disappointed! My father was the one who actually stayed and he is beyond his "stay-anywhere-as-long-as-it's-cheap" days. He was very happy with this hotel and so was I! The price was very good which attracted us. Came in late and the late-day desk staff, Jessica was outstanding! The motel was quiet, which I like. A nice flat screen tv in our room. Breakfast fare was good -- but avoid the donuts unless you are looking for rocks to skip across the water. The only downside of the motel was its location -- away from everything. […] Nothing in walking distance, no convenience store, restaurant, bar, or store. So if you stay there, be prepared to stay right there or drive a distance to any support retail store. Impacted by weather, wasn't sure we would get there but Econo Lodge said no problem, they would still cancel late, no charge. Did arrive very late. Guest clerk offered 2nd floor room "a little newer" if we didn't mine the steps. Firm bed (we like it that way). Clean room. Heater fan a little noisy, but didn't leave it on. "Great value for a budget priced hotel."
This was a nice clean (!) hotel to stay for a night on the road. The breakfast was hot and plentiful-we didn't go down until almost 9 and there was still enough and we didn't feel like we were eating the leftovers. So often, complimentary breakfasts are sparse or they run out. There were biscuits and gravy, waffle iron/batter, or cereal and donuts. […] The towels and sheets were surprisingly good quality for the price of the hotel. Pillows were small, but overall we were very happy with the value we received. All hotel employees we encountered spoke English too. The room was so cool upon arrival that we actually turned the AC down a bit. There is no elevator which might be an issue for some if you stay on the second floor. Econo lodge was very comfortable, it wasnt huge but it was far from small. The pool was about 10x20 and was the perfect temperature. The service was probaly one of the best ive had in awhile, i cant remember a single thing they werent willing to do for us including giving us directions to different places in ames.
