The hotel was nice and clean but there was no room service.It was my birthday and we had the cake delivered to the hotel room but we couldnt even get a knife or forks from hotel! that was kind of a bummer for us that there was no service.

Staff were disinterested mostly especially younger front desk staff. Hotel was noisy. Newly arriving occupants in the small hours of the morning since it catered to coach parties. Noisy plumbing 24 hrs a day led to very poor sleeping. Would not reccomend to friends.

We would recommend that you clean up the blood spatter on the walls and curtains, at least that is what it looked like to us and it was disgusting. The housekeepers would take the dirty towels and not leave clean ones.There was a coffemaker but NO coffe pot for it. The Air conditioner was SO LOOUD that I had to put ear plugs in my ears to even try to […] sleep. The refrigerator was nice except that there was SO MUCH ice built up at the top that we could not find the controls for it . I guess you get what you pay for. The hotel is in need of some updating and modernisation. Cigarette smells are still prevalant even after banning smoking from rooms for so many years. Cigarette burn in the bed cover was not an edifying sight. Drapes above the room air conditioner were dirty. Bath tub needs an acid clean to remove soiling from hundreds of people's dirty feet. I have registered a formal complaint to Choice Hotels regarding this hotel. It is in a good location, but run down, not kept up, parking area littered with wood scraps and junk, and construction remains. When we made the reservation we called the hotel directly to check for access to the MBTA Alewife Station. We were told that the hotel shuttle would pick us up. However when we arrived, they said they didn't come that far. We took a bus to Lexington Center, then called for a ride, and they said they didn't have shuttle service after 6 (it was 7). After […] calling back and speaking to another person, they did pick us up. Taking the bus takes an hour; by car 10 min., and there is no bus service on Sunday. The manager did try to help; picked us up on Sunday. Also there was only 1 vending machine for snacks, only took credit cards, and it wasn't working. At 2:30 am there was a car that crashed into the hotel after the driver left the restaurant that was right up the street. (No one was hurt though, was just scary) The room that i had reserved was not the room i received and the room that i got had 2 beds and was meant for 4 people. 4 people Would NOT have fit comfortably in this room!

Check in was smooth but as soon as I opened the door to my room a wave of cigarete odor hit me in the face. I phoned the front desk as I am not a smoker and didn't request a smoking room but they told me quite abruptly that they could not move me as that were fully booked. The hotel is an older hotel that was apparently somewhat recently renovated (I stayed here in the beginning of October 2010). Instead of replacing things, they chose to try and paint over things and use wall hangings (pictures and mirrors) to hide the things that paint could not hide. The wallpaper border used in my room was coming off the wall in a […] few places and the stains from cigarettes on the vanity were disgusting. The bathroom was not much cleaner as the caulking in the shower was stained and the floor was coming up a bit behind the toilet. Rust stains around the drain in the shower were disgusting as well. As for the bed itself, the mattress was very old and had "hills and valleys" in it. When I inquired about another room, I was told the hotel was booked and no other rooms were available. With the constant coming and going of people at all times of the night, I got the feeling that the hotel was being used for suspicious activities as well. Although this hotel was somewhat inexpensive, my recommendation is to find some place else to stay, even if it costs more. Read more

The purpose of staying in the hotel was heat related. The thermostat for the cooler was not working properly. We had it set at 67 and it was not turning on. Finally, I turned it to 62, then it wouldn't turn off. Secondly, the shower had a very slow drain causing us to be in ankle deep water. Not great.
