"Great Place in Portland"
My family stays at the Merry Manor every year on our way to our summer house in DownEast Maine. We love the saltwater pool and hot tub they have there. It's so nice to relax in the water at the end of a long day driving. It's easy to get into downtown either driving or by cab to have dinner in one of Portland's many great restaurants. The hotel was excellent. We did not require room service, though the staff was within character. Public jacuzzi and pool was pretty cool, but did not go. Room was super clean and super comfortable. "Uphill in the Bed"
The one issue we had was the bed my cousin slept in. It had a tempurpedic-type mattress, and unfortunately it had a "gulley" on one side. The sides were too steep for her to roll out of it, and if she put her legs at an angle to get part of her body out of the gully, her legs were uphill from the rest of her body. we used to stay at the merry manor inn for many years, but haven't been back in the last 5 years. pleasant surprise to find out how updated the rooms are and how much work they're doing to really make the hotel spectacular. first of all, there are actual massage chairs in every room! they finally have lcd tv's and even though we had regular rooms, we […] also had a microwave and fridge in them. the hotel has bought out the restaurant next door, and while they have a very small menu right now, the food was great. they no longer have a continental at the hotel, but instead give you vouchers for breakfast at the restaurant, which was fantastic. the beds aren't the most comfortable, but they're far from bad. overall i was very happy with our stay and can't wait to go back.
