Our room was old, paint chipping, wallpaper peeling. It was also small; the furniture barely fit! (The tv armoire covered half of the mirror.) Positive: Easy to find, at a light, so traffic in and out not a problem. Within 20 min from several lighthouse locations, 40 min to Kennebunk where we went out whale watching. Across from the Maine Mall, next to Chilis, 2 blocks from Cracker Barrel, so choices of eats and the mall nearby. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. Though the place […] is outdated, the walls are thick and sound dosen't seem to get through the rooms. The rooms are clean. Negative: the place is outdated and though clean, its well-worn. The place needs some upgrades. Breakfast is overcrowded, best to take a short walk to Cracker Barrel, or Home Town Buffet in the mall, open weekends for breakfast. Biggest complaint: unless you book a "business room", one of few in the hotel, this place STILL does not have microwaves and refrigs in the room, which is standard in the majority of hotels these days, but their prices are comparable to the hotels that do provide these appliances. So if your priority is to just sleep, take off and sight-see, its a great local, and a clean stopover. If you are staying a few days, plan on using an ice chest for drinks in your room when you are not out, or purchasing cold drinks from the machines in the hall. I hope this helps. All of the hotel staff were pleasant, helpful and overall excellent folks. This Days Inn is typical of most that we've been to for its age. The public areas are modern and well kept up however the rooms are due for an upgrade. They still have the plaster over block look which to us is cold.
