The write up on this hotel include a warning that they are working on the lobby area, and boy were they! I think the rate was adjusted, and the staff did a good job compensating. I appreciated the notice. However, the big problem for me was that the heating unit in my room cycled on and off constantly and loudly and kept me from sleeping. Hotel was average but not a good fit for sleeping at night or the morning.Noisy. I could hear kids running up and down the hall until midnight. Then I could hear them through the walls. Next morning got awakened by slamming doors as there was a large group leaving that day and had no consideration of other guests. "Disappointing hotel, but great location"
The positives: It is a perfect location for a family trip to Portland - right next to the mall and Chuck E. Cheese. It has an indoor pool & hot tub. It also has a free continental breakfast. "Convenient location"
My husband and I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions.. For the last 10 +/- years we have used it as a "stop over" for trips back and forth from NH to Northern Maine. The location is ideal; close to the Maine Mall, great restaurants and entertainment. We have always considered this hotel to be clean and comfortable. We did bring the "unfavorable" information to the hotel's attention because it was not the "norm". It appears that the room had been only partially cleaned. There was a mildew buildup in the tub area. The room had a musty smell. The situation could have been an oversight. However, black mildew does not suddenly appear overnight and it can be removed easily from tubs and ceramic tile. Why had this not been taken care of? Although an airport hotel, the shuttle to/from the airport doesn't run after midnight, with 3 flights all arriving just before midnight -- had to wait for a cab. This hotel had windows that you couldn't open, the crib we requested was a well worn pack 'n' play and the lobby television was very loud.
