"Feeling Cramped"
The hotel itself was very nice, well maintained and staffed. Unfortunately our room (for 3 adults) felt a bit cramped, and we were a bit disappointed at the lack of a mini fridge or microwave. We visited Portland for funerary services for my father and spent alot of time in the room itself. Future visits may be questionable. The Doubletree is a very nice hotel - the room was pretty clean and spacious (king size room). However, one thing I didn't realize when booking it, was that the rooms don't have a microwave or mini fridge. "Great for what I needed"
I only used the hotel as a place to sleep the night before a conference in Portland, so I did not spend time anywhere besides my room, or use any of the amenities. My check in experience was great. Kurt (Curt?) at the desk was warm, clear and welcoming. He was terrific. When I exited the elevator to go to my room after checking in, the area smelled […] like someone had been smoking. This happened again when I came back later. There was no smell in my room though. The room was fine in terms of comfort, arrangement and having all the things I might need. On the negative side, the bedspread had a small stain or soiled area on it (which is a little creepy) and I could hear some intermittent noise from the rooms next to me. Once I had earplugs in, everything was fine and the bed was quite comfortable. Unfortunately, the Wolfgang Puck single brew cup of coffee was so awful that after the first sip I had to throw it away. "Not the Doubletree we know"
We are used to a much higher quality from a Doubletree property. This is an old Wyndam and it has not been updated. The rooms are the same size as a Holiday Inn. There was no frig or microwave in the room or available anywhere. The closet was half size and only three drawers in the dresser.
