Really enjoyed our two day stay at Vagabond Inn Chula Vista. Rooms were a little small but the beds and furniture have been updated. Beds were nicely made with new pillows. When you first arrive to the hotel it’s a little nerve racking, because the outside looks outdated and old. The rooms are a different story they are clean. Also room service are […] respectful with your items I missed placed my COACH Sun Glasses and was not sure if I left them at the restaurant or I left them in the bathroom of the restaurant. My sunglasses ended up under the bed and the house keeper found them and left them on top of the TV so I would be able to see them. We went to see partly my mother in law's family and to run some errands in the area- we got two rooms we looked at both rooms first - they gave us one right next to the other which was good. One room was clean and smelled clean- we gave that one to my mother in law, the second smelled horribly like cigarettes - both rooms were non-smoking. We called […] right away to let them know that one stank of cigarettes, we didn't ask for another room because we liked the fact that one was right next to the other and we didn't want to waste time. Also, the facet in the bathroom tub in one room - the water did not go up to the shower head so we used a plastic cup to gather water from the bottom facet to bathe ourselves. The next day, luckily it worked but we told the staff when we left hoping they'd fix it for the next guest. There are a plenty of restaurants to eat in the area, that was a plus. VERY QUITE AND HAD A PLEASENT STAY. I HAVE USED THIS HOTEL FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND WOULD RECOMMEND TO OTHERS. I ONLY HAD TO ASK FOR ONE THINK AND THAT WAS THE HEATER NOT WORKING. BUT THE ROOM WAS NOT THAT COLD AND WE SPENT THE WHOLE WEEK-END IN THE SAME ROOM.

My family and I stayed in two different rooms each nite.When I attempted to contact management they were never available, I left my number with the front desk employee but I was never contacted by any one from the hotel, Both rooms were infested with ants. On the beds and in the bathroom. I will never stay at this hotel chain again.

The hotel had ants. We requested to switch our room two days after arriving when it was brought to our attention. The front desk stated that this was an on going problem and not an isolated occurrance. The windows looked like they had screens which had been bent and with a trailer park behind the hotel Id be willing to bet that security may have been […] an issue for the hotel in the past. Some shady looking people were always drinking beers in the pool and spa area and the air conditioner in our first room smelled like urine. Lastly the tv stations weren't the same for every room. This hotel was very good for its price and was in a very convenient location. The rooms were large and had a well sized refrigerator (mini-fridge) and a microwave, also the Wi-Fi is free and there is a wide variety of TV channels offered as well. Not in best neighborhood. Continental breakfast was coffee and pastries - that's it - not even juice for the kids. Had to ask for towels - window seals very dirty. They used pool fence to dry the laundry. Overall was very unhappy.

The hotel was not bad for a low budget hotel, the room had no odor, the sheets were clean and the bed was comfortable...the guests were very quiet which is a plus considering where we were staying. There were plenty of places to eat around the hotel from walking distance and down the street we found a Walmart. Not quite sure how trip advisor rated this #4 in Chula Vista. Non-smoking room smelled of smoke. Comforter and blanket full of stains. Sheets had cigarette burns in them. A/C filter was so plugged wouldn't cool very well. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

I would never stay at this hotel again. There was a HUGE cockroach crawling up the wall in the bathroom and when I asked for another room (since I was staying two nights) and was told that I had to wait until the morning. In the morning, they gave me another room. What appeared to be spilled coffee grounds turned out to be dead and 1/2 dead ants all […] over the floor. I was then given another room. We stayed at the motel for 2 days, our first day we encountered rude noisy occupants beside our room. it was too early to complain around 7 or 8 pm at night. these occupants are like deaf people, they talked too loud and they kept going in and out their door; their door keeps banging on the wall. their kids kept on screaming too. finally around 9pm […] I called the front desk to complained about the loudness of the occupants. they finally quiet down and lowered their loud voices. until morning it was only about 8am we're still sleeping at the time, the occupants were making noises again. they kept talking too loud and kept going in and out their door again. they had a basketball too that they dribbled around the hallway that made it even more noisier and annoying. I talked to the manager before we ventured and told him to transfer us to another room where we don't have no neighbor beside us. The manager told us they left and we were relieved. The neighbor behind the motel are mobil homes, but by far nobody bother us. The motel was clean and maintained properly. I wish the motel walls are more sound proof, sound proof walls are a must to a peaceful rest in a motel/hotel. Read more

We picked this hotel for price in relation to proximity to Sea World. San Diego Zoo, and the Gas Lamp Quarter. The surrounding area is ok but not great, however, it is near many restaurants. Be sure to visit Aunt Emma's Cafe, excellent food and service. The staff at The Vagabond Inn were always courteous and polite. It seems they are in the process […] of renovating the rooms. Our room, unfortunately, was not one of them. The room was decent, it was clean but had a small ant problem. They ended up giving us a different room the next day. The TV's in both rooms were tiny like 15". Channel selection was good. Small fridge, microwave and coffe maker were included in the rooms. All in all not bad for the price. Hotel is located about 15 min from the Gas Lamp Quarter, Sea World and about 20min from the San Diego Zoo. My family and I would probably stay here again if money is tight. If you are on a budget, I would recommend the Vagabond Inn. Read more

Its a good hotel if your only going to sleep and shower. The weekend we were there the swimming pool was freezing and the jacuzzi did not work! We mostly spent the days in San Diego and its a 20 min drive from there. Its clean and the people are nice. The breakfast is muffins and oj. I would stay there again but only to sleep and shower.

It's a little further away from the big San Deigo attractions, but it's right of the 5 so it was still easy to get anywhere. Hotel was clean and comfortable and they have a fridge and microwave in every room.

For a 'bargain' hotel, I didn't expect much. However, this hotel exceeded my expectations and then some. I checked in for a two night-stay. The staff was very nice and check-in was quick. The beds were very comfortable. Room had a refrigerator and microwave. TV had over 50 channels to choose from. Pool was clean and refreshing. And the wi-fi was fast […] and stable. Hotel is close to many amenities. Everything from steak houses, to movie theaters, to fast-food to convenience stores was within a 3-minute drive. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel. Hotellet var valgt fordi der var mulighed for morgenmad. Morgenmaden bestod af en bakke med diverse kager. Når bakken var tom blev den ikke fyldt op igen, så stod du i receptionen efter kl. 8.45 var det bare bad-luck. Skulle hver eneste dag bede om ekstra håndklæder, der blev kun leveret 2 stk. på trods af at vi var registreret med 4 personer. Fjernbetjeningen […] til fjernsynet virkede ikke og på trods af påtale af dette skete der intet. Filtret i kaffemaskinen på værelset var stoppet med det resultat af hele badeværelset sejlede i kaffe.
