The Hotel del Coronado occupies 28 acres of Pacific coastline property in San Diego, Calif. This famous hotel stands adjacent to Coronado Village and is five miles from downtown San Diego.
Hotel Features.
The hotel's refurbished interior includes an original birdcage elevator operated by a uniformed attendant. Dining options include 1500 Ocean which serves coastal cuisine, features the ENO Wine Room and hosts nightly live entertainment. The oceanfront Sheerwater features an exhibition kitchen and California fare. The Crown Room's focal point is an arched, 30-foot Sugar-pine ceiling constructed without a single nail. Babcock & Story serves tropical drinks and fine wines, and features a carved bar that dates from 1888. Function space comprises 65,000 square feet and offers popular sites for hosting nuptials. A business center houses computers equipped with high-speed Internet access. Recently refurbished Spa at the Del offers 14 treatment rooms, hydrotherapy, steam rooms and relaxation areas for men and women. A fitness center contains cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, and offers the services of personal trainers. Recreational amenities include boat rentals, two outdoor pools with cabanas and spa tubs, bicycle rentals, and beach equipment. Hotel staff members host children's and teen programs.

Guestrooms display period décor in a Victorian building and modern décor in a second structure. Furnishings vary but include carved wooden headboards and wicker-and-cane furniture. Select accommodations feature patios or balconies, and shuttered windows that open to Pacific breezes. Rooms include complimentary high-speed wired and wireless Internet access, Bose surround sound systems and flat panel televisions.

ENO - Wine room with 500 wine varietals, 35 cheeses from around the world, and local chocolates to sample.
The Hotel del Coronado is hosting a free family beach party on July 1 from 7 PM to 10 PM for hotel guests to kick off the Fourth of July festivities early. All resort guests staying at The Del on July 1 are invited to celebrate right on the sand with a live band, recreational activities, s'mores, games for children and a spectacular fireworks show.
On July 3, Coronado Island starts the celebration with the annual parade along Orange Avenue, featuring more than 150 bands, floats and groups. Then on July 4, the celebration continues with a fun run/walk, rough water swim, Art-in-the-Park and a concert in Spreckels Park. The day concludes with a spectacular fireworks finale over San Diego Bay.
Hotel del Coronado - A KSL Luxury Resort is situated on 28 oceanfront acres, and offers a boathouse and boat rentals. A new fitness center and two pools (both with cabanas and spa tubs) are on site. The resort also rents bikes, and offers beach equipment and children's and teen programs. Tennis, volleyball, and yoga lessons are also available.

We had a beautiful ocean view room with a comfortable king size bed. I was celebrating by birthday and they delivered champagne to our room! "Nice but expensive"
I have wanted to stay at this hotel for a long time because of the history of it and the location but I wouldn't stay at it again. The hotel was nice but you can tell just by the smell that its old. I wouldn't stay here again because they charge you a $25 resort fee and $40....yes thats right $40 per day for valet. "Old World Hotel"
Old world hotel and huge campus. A classic like the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. Hotel was very busy with a poultry convention. Aside from the numerous business guests it felt very touristy. Lots of dark wood paneling in the lobby and many areas were closed for private parties. Room in original victorian building was just large enough to contain the bed. […] Certainly tight quarters. Great location right on the beach, many pools including an adults only pool. Wonderful jogging trail passes the Naval base and runs along California 75. Way too expensive for what you get: hard bed, no counter space in bathroom, small rooms, very expensive food ($76.50 for one adult for a Sunday brunch), they charge a $25 dollar resort fee per day, $25 parking fee per day, our in- room movie rental was $20. "Very Satisfied"
We were upgraded to a gorgeous suite overlooking the ocean because there was a conference in the hotel and we had to be shifted from our original room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Just a couple of suggestions: 1- It would be great if the hotel staff would carry the beach chairs to the beach for you 2- It would be great if the hotel staff would […] take orders (drinks/eats) from patrons at the beach, instead of having to order from the sun deck and carry over to the beach 3- The adult pool is only open during summer season, so we had to share the pool w/ children and it was somewhat noisy. "Grand Dame Still Great"
Have wanted to stay here for years and finally got around to the visit. It was great; wonderful atmosphere and grounds. Beach views are fine. "Bad customer service"
The Hotel is spectacular but the service was horrible. Not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel at all. My bad service experience was primarily in the restaurant. I found a hair in my hamburger, I call the manager over. He was apologetic and offered to get me something else. However, the waiter took it very personal and never returned to our table […] for the rest of the meal. We actually had to ask someone else for our bill. "Great place, even without the night life"
Our flight arrived 4 hours late and our luggage was lost, so we didn't arrive until 11:00pm. We were shocked to find that EVERYTHING in the area but the hotel bar was closed. The streets were empty. Even so, the stress of the day was wiped away by the friendly staff and gorgeous room. The concierge listened to our ideas and then helped us plan two […] perfect days at the resort and in the surrounding areas. The staff in the restaurants and bars went a step above expectations with friendly service and more, ie. suggesting where to snap the best photos and then producing a flower for the lady and taking the pictures for us with a perfectly framed background. One of the breakfast servers insisted on taking pictures from 3 different angles, and they turned out to be some of my favorites of the weekend. Highly recommended with or without children in tow. "Beautiful Hotel to tour, not to stay"
I've been to this hotel many times just to tour the hotel or walk the beach and it is a gorgeous hotel. To see it decorated for Christmas was even more amazing. This was the first of my visits that I actually stayed at the hotel, and possibly my last. When I got into the room, the bed was barely past the opening door. The room was tiny. The bathroom […] was what you would find in a 2-3 star hotel, not bad, but not good. The floors are old and very thin and there is no insulation in the walls, so all night I could hear everyone walking in the halls and walking overhead. That being said, the bed was fine and the restaurant downstairs was very good. "Do youself a Favor STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!"
Worst hotel experience of my life. A beautilful beach and area but this hotel is a nightmare. The first room I was given had paper thin walls and I slept about 1 hour in between kids crying and cars screaming by. The next day I demanded a different room. This room was even worse. Could hear every noise from every kid or drunk Dad in the hotel. Coffee […] Maker was broken- AC didn't work- Had almost no shower pressure- Clock kept resetting- Front Desk basically laughed at my face when I went to talk to them and said they had no other rooms and didn't offer anything for my nightmare of a stay. So basically- For over three days I averaged 1-3 hours of sleep because of the noise. Just couldn't believe such a beautiful expensive hotel could be this bad. The food was good but very expensive. Look this is a TWO star hotel at best. Go and enjoy this area but DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! YOU WILL THANK ME LATER!!! I still can't believe my expericence just horrible. If you have to stay here bring some earplugs some lysol and a vacum you will need them all. "Compacent Staff"
This hotel is beautifully located and beautiful to look at but I think that is something that the staff are relying on as they are not very good at their jobs!! Our room was small, smelt funky and the internet did not work. The staff could not be trusted to do anything they were asked to do. An example of this was were a pull out cot had been left on […] our balcony. I asked for it to be moved when we got to our room. I was still there when we came back from dinner later that evening. They were asked again twice and eventually it was moved the next day. They told us the internet would be fixed within an hour or so of check in but when I spoke to the teck support company they said a fault had not even been reported by the hotel. There is also a resort fee charged per day payable at the hotel which is not mentioned until you check in. For $25.00 per day you get internet that does not work, two small bottles of water and two coffee pods for the coffee machine.. My advice is to check in to the cheaper hotel across the street and use the beach at the Hotel Del. Most of the people we met there were not staying! They just came to see a bit of over priced history and stayed elsewhere! On the upside McP's Irish bar down Orange Avenue a couple of hundred yards serve great food and is everything good in an Irish American bar and the Island itself is worth seeing!!
