"Location is best of both worlds"
Room was quiet clean and had a more than the regular amenities. Staff was spot on. The location of the hotel permitted us to visit Imperial Beach for a burger and brew and the Coronado shops which were both within 10 minutes of driving.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bring protection- Lysol, bleach, gloves and humor"
Physical plant not kept up well. Many areas on propety and in room showing rust and decay. Building we stayed in was quiet as virtually no one else in it. Garage had long term storage of old and newer vehicles, old bicycles, exercise equipment etc., and looked and felt like we were in a garage sale not a secure parking area. Room service was horrible! […] The young lady was great but the food would have been better if brought in from a local road house and reboxed. Housekeeping seemed over worked or staffed short. Lots of confusion with discussion in front of us. Not professional of supervisor. Staff noticed us standing in hall waiting to pass to get to room but supervisor did not. Room was not cleaned on last night nor resupplied with toiletries the day before. nice people, lousy service and product. I've experienced better in Mexico of all places. Guess they might want to look over that big fence down the road. I won't try to compare to N.Y., Chicago, Montreal, Toronto, let alone overseas, it just wouldn't be fair. "Dissapointed"
I would strongly recommend calling the hotel to see what events they have scheduled before booking your stay! Loews had most of their rooms booked for the soccer tourney that was across the street, a medical business convention, a prom and a wedding. There wasn't one minute of relaxation at this hotel. Kids were screaming, running around the entire […] hotel which included the pool area, the resturants, elevators and the hallways until 11:30PM and as early as 5:45AM; while parents/chaperones’ sat at the large bar which was situated as you entered the hotel. The Stanley Cup also drew the crowds in the bar area. It was the noisiest place I’ve ever stay at. There was no relief from the noise. UNBELIVEABLE!!! "Think twice about staying here"
Our first night staying there was not a good experience at all. We had booked for a king size bed and when we got there, all they had left were 2 full size beds. Needless to say, our first night was pretty uncomfortable. My boyfriend and I were looking forward to a romantic weekend and sleeping in separate beds was not what we signed up for. The following […] day I called the front desk to let them know we needed to be switched. They were able to switch our rooms but we ended up paying the same price. They offered no discount for this huge inconvenience. If you stay here, make sure you are getting what you pay for. This hotel is way overpriced for what they offer. "Read this before considering a stay..."
We found our stay uncomfortable and loaded with hidden costs. The hotel is remote from any entertainment and dining. There is no way to get there or stay without a car. But, they charge everyone a mandatory Per day charge for parking. We also were kept awake by a residents dog (they alow pets). We were Ridley awakened by an unruly wedding party one […] night. "for a good time...stay on the island NOT HERE!"
Not just bad...but useless bell hop and valet parking attendant. They told us it would be better for us to park our own car and carry our bags to our room, all the while holding the door waiting for their tip...are you kidding me. I am an excellent tipper (20-25%), but these people got nothing from me. Everything is an extra charge here...parking, wifi, […] etc. Don't let the pictures fool you, this hotel is not on the pacific beach. The beach is down a long drive and across a four lane highway. From the pictures I thought we would be right on the beach. Also the hotel is far away from all the resturaunts so you are stuck with the hotels food which is very pricey and charges a $4.00 delivery charge and a 24% gratuity charge whether you like the service and food or not. "Worst Loews Ever"
The Beach was dirty and full of sea weed. The beach looked as if it had not been cleaned in months. The Loews sets up limited chairs and umbrellas by a trailer park camping ground. The pool and surronding area was also dirty. The outside of the hotel is very run down. It was by no means a good experience. We even tried to check out as soon as we checked […] in and saw the beach condition, but could not do so. We ended up going down the road to another hotel/beach each day and had a much better experience. For start you will see sign in the parking garage floor saying (this hotel contain a chemical material could cause cancer and birth defect) I could not believe my eyes, they should disclose before you book the room. "No more Loews"
They put us right next to the Childrens Play Room. Starting at 6 am in the morning, there were kids/parents talking and screaming non-stop in the Children's play room and in the hallway. They should never have a guest room that close. I complained to the front desk and housekeeping and they didn't seem to care. The other time we've stayed at a Loew's […] (in Santa Monica), they gave us a note when we checked in telling us that they were going to be turning off the power in the middle of the night. "Worste experience I have ever had ad a hotel especially one rated 5 stars."
Firstly when we arrived at 5:45 pm only one room was ready. We had to wait for the other two rooms to be completed when we were assured that the check in time was 4:00 pm. When we got into the rooms we noticed, firstly in one room that the carpet was severely stained and the pet urine smell was horrific. We brought it to the attention on the maid service […] twice and they assured us that it would be taken care of. My wife had to go to the gift shop and buy a candle to help with the smell. The girl at the shop said she too would call housekeeping and they would take care of it. There were stains in the other two rooms as well. My daughters little boy was in a walker and when he was done walking on the floor his feet were black! My granddaughter who is two wanted to play on the floor and we had to constantly get her up off the floor as we knew it was grossly dirty. The second day we were there we were gone all day and when we returned to dress for dinner the maids had JUST got there. This is 5:00 pm On the last day of our vacation they woke us up at 7:00 am with the noise of cutting palm trees and no less than 15 people out there screaming and making all kinds of noise! The pool was not able to be used until after 10:30 am. Even at that time they were still fishing the junk out of the pool and being disruptive. When we went to go to the jacuzzi after dinner there was no seating or no place to put our items all the lounges had been removed. They will do nothing to fix this! "Room was broken into/left unsecured"
There are many positive aspects to this hotel, but unfortunately, a few things overshadowed the good parts! On our first day, the housekeeping staff accidentally removed my child's beloved stuffed animal. Luckily, it was found, but no apologies were ever made. On our last day, we came back at 7:30 p.m. to find our room door left wide open. We called […] the Manager, and Security ran various checks on the door. They later confirmed that the door had been entered at 6:20. The checks took over one hour to run however, and during that time, our room keys were not changed, the Manager on Duty was unavailable. No one did anything to check on our security, safety, valuables, let alone comfort. No real explanation was ever offered, but thankfully, nothing was missing. After a few hours, the MOD came up to our room to offer us new rooms keys. She offered us a free breakfast the next morning, but when we followed-up, no arrangements had been made. Housekeeping was an issue as well. A light in the bathroom was burned out during our stay, and it was never fixed. In addition, there were cob-webs in the bathroom that were also not removed. It's too bad - I think that the hotel could potentially be great. I would suggest that the major problem is a young and inexperienced staff.
