Le Richelieu in the French Quarter

While it has all the obvious stuff like it's within walking distance to Bourbon Street and other tourist attractions and it was clean and nicely priced. But what I liked was how at any time of the day, you could go down to the pool side bar and find locals eating lunch, or having a quick drink and chatting up the bartenders or just stopping by to say […] hi to the near 89 year old owner, Brian...who happened to greet us and pull out our chairs for us at breakfast one morning. The hotel is located in a great area. You can access Bourbon St and Jackson Square and the Frenchmen Street area easily. Rooms are small but very clean. Our bed needed a new mattress and only had a ceiling fan. Probably would be a little too warm in the summer months.

We really enjoyed our one-night's stay at Le Richelieu. The staff couldn't have been nicer, and we were very satisfied with the location, security and rates. The styling and building at La Richelieu is definitely a bit dated (particularly in the bathrooms), but this hotel was very clean and comfortable for my 3-night stay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, including *very* early check-in (07:00) and check-out (03:45) and questions about places to go for food, clothing, etc. in the French Quarter. […] I was in town to visit the Convention Center (~1.75mi) daily and made the walk comfortably every day. When was the last time you had a walk-in closet and a linen closet in your hotel room? Quaint, cozy but not at all small king size room overlooking the pool and courtyard. Every one of the staff that we encountered treated us as if we had come to visit their home and they were glad that we were there.

This is the second time I have stayed at the hotel. Always clean and convenient. They now have a gated lot, which is nice for safety of the car. Only downside to the hotel is VERY slow internet

When it is cold outside the heaters do not turn off and the A/C will not go on. I had to change rooms because the Ac wouldnot go on and the temp. in the room went from 93 to 98 before they came and turned off the heat. But ac would not come on. They gave me a room where I could open the windo which solved the problem

This genteel hotel is conveniently located a close commute to the convention center and in comfortable shoes, all the highlights of the French Quarter. It was nice to be able to walk to the French Market as well as Bourban Street, and to have on site parking. While we did not swim, we did enjoy danging our feet in the pool while we read or books or […] conversed with other guests. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, and housekeeping very understanding when we put out the Do Not Disturb if we wanted to sleep in our walk to the local cafe for breakfast and not worry about having to wait for them to finish. I travel often. I look for local hotels, to get into the local spirit. This place is DATED. The rooms need a facelift, at least. I found the hotel depressing to spend time in.. The hotel decor was 'cheap and nasty' in it's prime, and now it's just 'wilted'. I found it overpriced compared to other options in the area. For the visiting native, the Richelieu is an excellent and reasonably priced choice. The location in the French Quarter is easily accessible if you know your way around town. Reasonably priced and safe on-site parking. Hotel is a bit worn around the edges, but this adds to the charm and authenticity of the place. We loved everything about the hotel. It's within walking distance to Jackson Square and any place you want to go to in the French Quarter. Being able to park was a big plus. We had a corner room with a balcony and great views. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Hotel was in a great location to get to most of the attractions of New Orleans, nice for walking around the French Quarter for all the amazing food and music. All I would say is the room I had was a little old fashioned, bathroom could do with modernisation.
