"Heads up gang"
So here's the thing. The hotel itself is cool when you first walk in. It was an old bank that has now been converted to a hotel. The rooms were small, the beds are outdated. They feel as though they came from a prison. Old spring mattresses. Not so wonderful. To park your car.... it's 30.00 per night PLUS TAX... yeah, that's right, they Tax you on parking. […] 30.00 + 3.33 = 33.00 per night to park. I was there for 3 days and it cost me 100.00 to park... Crazy! The people that work there are polite. The breakfast downstairs is a bit odd. You can get the buffet, but eggs are not on the buffet. You have to order them separately... The reason was because people are picky about their eggs.... That's what we were told at lease. Whatever. "Stayed for Mardi Gras 2013 Excellent Service"
The hotel was nice a little dated, all the staff were friendly and helpful. I felt accommodated during my stay at the Wyndham. When something went wrong with my reservation the staff fixed away. We came for Mardi Gras weekend and the hotel is situated off the route of the parade. We had to wait for what felt like hours to get across the street to get […] to the main events and we were right there is was extremely annoying, this was not the hotels fought and next time we will definitely make sure we stay closer to bourbon. I gave this a 4 because of the friendliness of staff and I felt safe. The hotel décor was a less modern (TV’s, couches and what not) but was sufficient enough for what we needed. It used to be a bank which was also cool. They also have decent suites available. I do believe the hotel staff mentions some of the new renovations. I would recommend this hotel to those interested in a staying at a decent hotel with great customer services, and anytime of the year except for during Mardi Gras because of the location and if you’re looking for a good price for your money. We stayed the weekend before Mardi Gras...great hotel with excellent location. We were just around the corner from the Uptown parade route on St. Charles. Rooms a little on small side, but very clean and well maintained. Hotel staff recommended that we go around the corner to Lafayette Sq to purchase grandstand tickets to watch parades- very reasonable […] prices for that and safe viewing location. The Whitney Wyndham was a perfectly fine experience. I had been staying the previous week at the Loew's Hotel a few blocks away which was far more updated in terms of room decor and amenities, so in comparison, the Whitney was just a mild disappointment, but being a bit closer to the attractions of the French Quarter was an advantage. For one of the nights of our stay, the guests in the next room were incredibly loud with people arguing and I almost called the front desk out of concern for someone possibly being hurt. The hotel was very cool being the fact it used to be a Whitney Bank. The hotel was updating a lounge area with a restaurant and bar but unfortunately was not open while we were there. The hotel was clean and comfortable, but a little dated. There were not any single rooms so we were able to get two bedrooms, but would have been nice to have a bedroom and a sitting room. We didn't stay in the room other than to clean up and sleep. There was a resturant on the 1st floor, but opted to eat other places. We had a great deal through Hotels.com and the room was very nice, clean, tidy etc. The hotel was close enough for us as we like walking but for some it might be a bit of a hike to French Quarter, River etc. There were NO staff though, we had to find a cart, take our bags to the room, there was one person on duty when we checked in and out. The Whitney Wyndham is a 10 minute walk to Bourbon St, 15 minutes to the French market/flea market, and 20min to Magazine St. We enjoyed the walks especially since we were eating ALL THE TIME!!! This hotel is only a short walk from the French Quarter and the riverside. The St. Charles street car is only a block away and behind the hotel is Lafayette Square and some nice cafes.
